According to Scripture (Sola Scriptura)

"If a teaching isn’t explicit in the Bible, then we don’t accept it as doctrine!" That belief, commonly known as sola scriptura, was a central component of all I believed as a Protestant. This bedrock Protestant teaching claims that Scripture alone is the sole rule of faith and morals for Christians. Diving deeper into its meaning to defend my Protestant faith against Catholicism about twenty years ago, I found that there was no uniform understanding of this teaching among Protestant pastors and no book I could read to get a better understanding of it.

What role does tradition play? How explicit does something have to be in Scripture before it can be called doctrine? Does Scripture tell us what is absolutely essential for us to believe as Christians? How can we determine the canon using sola scriptura? All these questions and more pointed to the central question: Where is sola scriptura itself taught in the Bible?

Show me where it say that in the Standards works of the LDS?

Read more thoroughly.

I said TEACHES.

I mentioned NOTHING about your precious scriptures.

But; since you've asked; just where, in the Quad, do we find the rationale for all of your temple rituals?

>>>If the chapter and verse is not listed in my King James Version, I won’t read it.<<<

Don’t interpret that too narrowly. I have about a dozen versions of the bible, including two Catholic versions, in my Bible research software. I also have built into the software, the 1909 Scofield, Youngs Literal Translation, and Strong’s and Youngs concordances. What I was implying is, if you want me to read something from a book that is touted to be divinely inspired, the book, chapter and verse must be listed in my bible. Otherwise I simply cannot afford the time. I have a mile-long honey-do list that I have to tend in between posts. LOL!

Mark Twain

“All men have heard of the Mormon Bible, but few except the "elect" have seen it, or, at least, taken the trouble to read it. I brought away a copy from Salt Lake. The book is a curiosity to me, it is such a pretentious affair, and yet so "slow," so sleepy; such an insipid mess of inspiration. It is chloroform in print. If Joseph Smith composed this book, the act was a miracle — keeping awake while he did it was, at any rate.”

>>LOL! When will it be heaven on earth on earth under dispensationalism?<<

I doubt you would understand Philip. You have said most everything in the scripture is not real or literal. Your sect allegorizes and symbolizes at will and makes up what they want it to say. If something fits your meme its literal if it doesn’t fit your meme it gets allegorized. Not much more sense in discussing this with you.

Don’t interpret that too narrowly.

Then don't write things that will be accepted for EXACTLY what they state.

One thing is for certain: I will never understand why any christian would cling to dispensationalism for very long. Many are getting the message, and are leaving the doctrine.

restornu,

I have no faith in Mormon doctrine, nor do I anticipate I will in my lifetime. I am a born-again Christian, and have been for about 40 years. Once you receive the Holy Spirit, you will not be able to shake it, nor would you desire to. Try it sometimes.

Philip

I have receive witness by the power of the Holy Ghost in 1982 when you know the Truth nothing else in the world matters. The King James Bible was my benchmark when I Knew the Book of Mormon was true for the voice of the Lord was the same when I read it how sweet were the tears of Joy to at last no longer a stranger for Word of the Lord was complete!

I always knew when reading the Bible there was more to the Word of the Lord and I also know there is more to come when His people are ready to receive.

Thanks for sharing of all here I knew you had something the others only talk about!

I felt it in your post even if I disagreed with some of your views, but you have explain many of those thing with more clarification.

I was hoping with sharing with you, you were ready to receive more but I see you are not interested and I respect that when I received more I was so filled with joy.

Be of Good Cheer!

We were told there would come a falling away so we may be right on track.

Was Adam flesh and blood prior to sinning?

NO

Genesis 2
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
