Show a little gratitude to those who you want to bash. You see the ancestors of those you attack allowed your ancestors to enter this great land. Instead, like a member of CAIR, you attack the religion of the founders of this great land. You can denigrate Protestants all you want, but our greatest accomplishment is the establishment of this great country under the Constitution of 1789, that is enough for me.

Martin Luther was the L. Ron Hubbard of your science-fiction religion.

Of course he was wrong sometimes — he was human. Doesn’t change his status as a leader at all.

I guess the pedophile priests are merely WRONG sometimes, too.

It shouldn't change THEIR

STATUS

as leaders; either...

Ex opere operato

“is a Latin phrase meaning “from the work done” referring to the efficacy of the Sacraments deriving from the action of the Sacrament as opposed to the merits or holiness of the priest, minister, or participant.

In modern usage, the phrase often refers to the idea that sacraments are efficacious in and of themselves rather than depending on the attitude either of the minister or the recipient. For example, Confirmation might be held to bestow the Holy Spirit regardless of the attitude of both the bishop and the person being confirmed.”

Jesus operates through imperfect people too. We all are.
David for example.

Martin Luther was a racist who hated Jews.

I'm not sure what that has to do with me but thanks for that information.

Serving up an extra helping of pickled red herring, eh?

I suppose from the protestant perspective of moral relativism with regards to different sins, that comment might make sense.

It makes as much sense as some of the arguments from the other side. Catholics twist everything to their perspective of the THE CHURCH as the ONE and ONLY TRUE CHURCH despite evidence their leaders are faulty and human, their doctrines change and past actions are abhorrent. They don't seem any different from many other churches other than their boastful claim and rituals.

Luther was a man with no temporal power. On the other hand:...

Not so. We have ancient Greek and Hebrew manuscripts to use for translation purposes.

Word of mouth is inherently and notoriously unreliable.

There is no valid comparison between using almost 2,000 year old manuscripts and claiming that something has been passed down faithfully by word of mouth for almost 2,000 years.

Now it's 30,000 different versions of the Bible?

And what version would he, or rather Rome, recommend?

Well, that’s fewer than 30,000, or even several hundred, depending on Catholic Culture or Kansas58, seems Catholicism is an unbiblical recipe for confusion. For sure the majority demonstrated here. I’d have you reference James, but apparently it was excised by Luther. He never got to my Bibles.

Actually, the RC's take credit for this country as well. That is why you will not see any gratitude for anything non-Catholic.

That would entail admitting that a non-Catholic was right about something.

In their revisionist history, they are claiming hat the US was founded by Catholics.

I will try looking for the threads. Maybe someone else pinged here remembers it and can help.

Now right there, that's FUNNY coming from a Catholic.

Mortal sin anyone?

Venial sin anyone?

Last I heard, he never excised it from HIS translation either. Seems that that is just an urban legend circulating around at that website you referenced in post 107.

Could be, perhaps the Pope could settle this when he isn't being mistranslated on homosexuals and Muslims. He does seem flexible re: dogma nowadays.

I remember that thread. They claimed to land in Florida (I think)somewhere and about the first thing they did was burn some people alive for heresy. I'm not sure that's one they ought to be pointing at and beating their chest over. But that's just me.
