What really interests me more is this — Is James really the half brother of Jesus? Did Mary have other children after giving birth to Jesus, or did she remain a virgin for the rest of her life?
she had other children, it’s right in the bible.

That issue can’t be proven or disproven from scripture. There is no Hebrew word for cousin or nephew. Abraham called Lot his brother, when indeed he was his cousin. As well, on the cross, Jesus gave his mother to John. If he had younger brothers, it would have been their responds ility to take her under their care...as it is...she was given to John. “ there your mother, there is your son” as well, there is no mention of siblings when they had to return to find Jesus in the temple... As well, there is no evidence that anyone believed that Mary had other children in the early church. It is a newer idea.
Joseph had been married before and then this could be a half brother of Jesus. Also, the legend has it that Joseph was 92 years old when he took Mary as his wife. But don’t ask me to prove it. I Wasn’t there at the time.
Could be Jesus’ legal half-brother via Joseph, a widower when he married Mary.
Mary was a perpetual Virgin.
Even Luther, Calvin and Zwingli said so.

She had other children after giving birth to Jesus.
How would anyone know?
What evidence do we have?
We have an account that she was a virgin, not written by anyone who knew, but rather an account written over 100 years afterwards, that is based not on anything that could be verified, but rather a recounting of a dream.
Well, I sure wouldn’t accept it as evidence of anything else.
Feel free to have it guide your life. Does it make a big difference whether James is the son of Mary born later, or the son of Joseph born before? In what way would it change your life if it was one or if it was the other?
Last week I ran over the Virgin Mary. Quite startling! The car in front of me swerved around something, and I was unable to swerve, and so ran it right over. It got jammed under the engine, and I dragged it along for about a quarter of a mile. Eventually I got off to the side of the road and there she was, a 3 foot plastic likeness of the Virgin Mary, kneeling in prayer. Apparently if fell off a trailer after some large Creche was disassembled. My daughter managed to get a rope around it and we could pull it out from the truck. I left her alongside the road on I-8 eastbound, just before we got to Gila Bend.
