Whether scarlet or wool, they are still sins.

Catholicism is not true Christianity, therefore those that remain in her.....

Here goes...the Spirit gives me the authority to say that Catholicism is not true Christianity.

It takes the Holy Spirit living in one to discern Scripture correctly otherwise man can easily fall into error.

All Catholics can be born again and filled with the Spirit but they won’t remain in the Catholic church once they are. The two are opposed...biblical salvation and Catholic salvation.

I’d urge you to listen to some testimonies of born again Christians who’ve come out of Catholicism if you are interested.

It is very hard for someone who is a good person to see their need for Christ and being born again...but us sinners (me) saved by grace know what a precious gift it is and have to shout it to everyone.

So who made you arbiter of where Christ lives?

Scripture.....

Acts 17:24-25 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Ephesians 3:14-19 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Colossians 1:27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Here goes...the Spirit gives me the authority to say that Catholicism is not true Christianity.

And I could say that the Spirit gives me the authority to say that it is. Kind of silly, isn't it? But I choose to leave that decision up to God. Yet you think you know better.

It takes the Holy Spirit living in one to discern Scripture correctly

Discern scripture correctly? So what evidence do you have that the Holy Spirit lives in you? And if He does, then why do you take it upon yourself to decide who is Christian and who is not?

All Catholics can be born again and filled with the Spirit but they won’t remain in the Catholic church once they are.

Nonsense.

..but us sinners (me) saved by grace know what a precious gift it is and have to shout it to everyone.

You don't seem to be aware of the purpose behind it. Salvation is the starting line - not the finish line.

Hello, Metmom. None of those scriptures you provided appoints Jodyel as the arbiter of where Christ lives. The Bible says that Christ lives in us - we being members of the church body. Yet Jodyel has declared that those members of the church body who happen to be Catholic do not have Christ living in them. I tend to disagree with this assessment, which is why I questioned Jodyel’s authority to decide.

Many moons ago, we asked a relative, an RC priest, if we could have the Blessed Sacrament in our home (for a period of time), and truth be told, I can't remember his full explanation (other than it would not be in a continual peace-filled environment; we had four little kids and various pets), but he said, no that can't be done.

As far as bringing home the Eucharist, it can only be given once a day, under usual circumstances. If you are a Eucharistic minister, you can place the host in a Pyx; "a box for Communion wafers: a container in which the consecrated wafers for Communion are placed so that they can be taken to those who cannot leave home." But again, this is for distribution to one person per day. You cannot keep a stockpile of Consecrated Hosts.

Do you find these following verses also to be merely symbolic?

Mt 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask , it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

John 17: 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

John 14: 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive , because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

I happen to know Catholics who prophesy and pray in tongues. I’m pretty much convinced that the Holy Spirit dwells in them regardless of what Jodyel says.

Thanks for those links.

All that contemplative prayer stuff sounds too much like transcendental meditation and yoga for my taste.

I’ve also been checking out the emergence church movement and find it rife with heresy. I’ve actually heard the teaching that we are God from acquaintances of mine. In addition to the name it and claim it theology, the prosperity gospel, the *ask whatever you will and you’ll have it* mentality, the *your words have power* and *you can speak things into existence* kind of stuff. The idea that all you have to do is say the positive things and they will become your reality.

A friend keeps telling me, (and I somewhat agree with him to an extent) that we are so willing to accept the negative and reluctant to accept the positive. But telling someone that you think you are coming down with a cold, doesn’t make it reality for you because of your words. It just means you are aware of the symptoms your body is displaying.

The Pentecostal movement is weird and poorly grounded in Scripture. there doctrines of theirs have little or no Scriptural support without taking verses out of context. They are too focused on the here and now and using God as a sugar daddy to make their lives comfortable and problem free.

They seem to forget the words of Jesus who says that in this world we WILL have tribulation, but to be of good cheer because HE has overcome the world.

I think anyone who claims to be filled with the Spirit and therefore able to stand in judgement over the souls of others had better be blatantly and even painfully displaying that the same Spirit is a full time resident and not merely a part time occupant who flits out from time to time whenever the person in question decides to go for blood on an internet message board.

I often get the impression that many RCs here wish the Inquisitions with all their carnal means were yet in force.

So I'm NOT the only one who has noticed this.

Maybe next time...

I won’t buy into any Christianity that is so cessationist that it turns God into a distant, uninvolved deistic style God.

The very incarnation of Jesus argues in favor of a God who will be involved with His creation, and of a God who will involve His people.

God is Spirit, so the greater realm of reality is spirit. His primary involvement with us will be spiritual, but that is no where near the same thing as metaphorical or allegorical.

It is an IN REALITY involvement with us. He is really involved in baptism, and He is really involved in communion, and He is really involved in prayer. I do NOT accept hyper-cessationism as Christian.

There are some who have accepted Christ who do stay in the Catholic church. Some do it out of desire to share with their fellow Catholics who are friends or relatives.

Some, especially older people, do it out of just not wanting to change at that point in their lives. Catholicism is all they’ve ever known and they are comfortable there.

I don’t doubt that there are genuine believers within Catholicism, just as there are genuine believers in ANY denomination. Likewise, there are unbelievers in any denomination. The only thing that would change between denominations is the percentages, the ratio between believer and unbeliever (those just playing church).

How we approach salvation should be our own choice and I believe that no matter how passionately someone feels about the correct path, condemnation and ridicule are useless as tools to help others.

Matthew 15:16
"Are you still so dull?" Jesus asked them.

Matthew 23

  1.  Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
  2.  "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.
  3.  So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
  4.  They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
  5.  "Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries  wide and the tassels on their garments long;
  6.  they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;
  7.  they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them `Rabbi.'
  8.  "But you are not to be called `Rabbi,' for you have only one Master and you are all brothers.
  9.  And do not call anyone on earth `father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
 10.  Nor are you to be called `teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ.
 11.  The greatest among you will be your servant.
 12.  For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
 13.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.
 14.  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
 15.   "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.
 16.  "Woe to you, blind guides! You say, `If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.'
 17.  You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?
 18.  You also say, `If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.'
 19.  You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?
 20.  Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.
 21.  And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it.
 22.  And he who swears by heaven swears by God's throne and by the one who sits on it.
 23.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
 24.  You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
 25.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
 26.  Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
 27.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!  You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean.
 28.  In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
 29.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.
 30.  And you say, `If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.'
 31.  So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.
 32.  Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!
 33.  "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?
 34.  Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.
 35.  And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.
 36.  I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.
 37.  "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.
 38.  Look, your house is left to you desolate.
 39.  For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, `Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.' "

Mark 7:26-27
 26.  The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.
 27.  "First let the children eat all they want," he told her, "for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs."

And St. Paul chimes in...

Galatians 5:12
As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!
