Does The Orthodox Presbyterian Church use the Crucifix?
The Orthodox Presbyterian Church ^

Posted on 08/05/2013 10:31:02 AM PDT by Gamecock

Question:

Does the OPC use the crucifix in the church? If not, are they opposed to it?

Answer:

Thank you for your question. The answer is, so far as I know, the crucifix is not used in OPC churches, and here is why:

1.The Second Commandment (Ex. 20:4-6 and Deut. 5:8-10) forbids any picture or image of God, and that would include the Son of God, even as man. At any rate we do not know what Jesus looked like as there is no physical description of him.

2.The crucifix will always end up being an object of worship—regarded as holy. History teaches as much. The bronze serpent Moses made became an object of worship and was not destroyed till King Hezekiah did it (Numbers 21:9; 2 Kings 18:1-5). Roman Catholics have worshipped it, kissed it and held it to have mystical powers.

3.Christ did not remain on the Cross. In the Roman Church Christ is said to be resacrificed each time the Mass is celebrated. This is heresy; he died once for all—Hebrews 9:25-28.

We in the OPC have learned not to trust our idolatry prone hearts not to do the same as others have in the past. Hence, no crucifixes are used. So, yes, we are opposed to it.

Correction, it will be ready at Succot, not Shavuot.

I do not know if it will be available through outside retailers at first.

I believe that the first releases will be package deals like this:

Celebrate
Three Dog Night

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXI6CdTVJ-0

Slippin’ away, sittin’ on a pillow
Waitin’ for night to fall
A girl and a dream, sittin’ on a pillow
This is the night to go to the celebrity ball

Satin and lace, isn’t it a pity
Didn’t find time to call
Ready or not, gonna make it to the city
This is the night to go to the celebrity ball

Dress up tonight, why be lonely?
You’ll stay at home and you’ll be alone
So why be lonely?
Sittin’ alone, sittin’ on a pillow
Waitin’ to climb the walls
Maybe tonight, depending how your dream goes
She’ll open her eyes when she goes to the celebrity ball

Dress up tonight, why be lonely?
You’ll stay at home and you’ll be alone
So why be lonely?
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music
Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music

If the barley is not ready, they insert the extra month.

So the intercalary month makes the date come later seaonally? ad this drops back until another 2nd Adar is needed, I suppose?

That is a climatic/agricultural issue. If the barley is not ready, they insert the extra month. They must have Aviv barley for “First Fruits.”

I am confused, I had a (Jewish) instructor in college that was telling us that it had to do with the Jewish calender having 12 months of 29/30 days and that the extra month was inserted every 6 years. And then every 18 years they inserted and extra time period. He said it had to do with the flooding of the Nile. I don't recall all of the details and it has been 20+ years since I had Dr. Waxman.

They are the ones who want to know why YOUR church removed much of the plain and precious things from the original manuscripts.

The province of Saskatchewan is not removed. Take that back.

Something is wrong here. Tiberius took up the throne when his father Augustus died on August 19, 14 AD.

Tiberius was Livia's son, not the son of Augustus. Something is very wrong.

Certainly.

Fresh leg of lamb. Set in cooking pan or cookie sheet (with high sides to contain the fat). Fat side up

Sharp paring knife - cut several thousand pockets into the meat and insert whole garlic cloves (as many as you can). A handful or two of coarse kosher salt sprinkled over top.

Middle rack of the oven. 500F for 45 minutes. 400F for 40 minutes. Let sit for 10 minutes. When the fat starts to collect in the pan, slick up quartered potatoes or carrots or whole garlic heads or whatever you like roasted. Keep it basted.

Slice horizontally - that way every slice is the same level of doneness. Also, when it comes time to reheat the leftovers, you won’t be overdoing the meat.

Don’t be timid. Your taste buds will love you for it.

Christ’s Bema seat Judgment of the constituents of His Bride is some Thousand years plus a few earlier than the GET Judgment.

Oh?

Then WHY is the Book of Life opened?

Sure!

The bitas and pieces that were lifted from Christianity!

Although the ORDER that they are transcribed (plagerized?) would tend to mess with a rational persons mind.
