Man will become like God, say Mormons and transhumanists in Salt Lake City

Man becoming godlike: belief or heresy?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS), aka Mormon Church, has a concept of boundless elevation and exaltation of Man, through all means including science and technology, until he becomes like God.

Conversely, God was once like Man before attaining an exalted status. “[Mormonism] allows for humans to ascend to a higher, more godlike level,” writes Max More in his introduction to The Transhumanist Reader, “rather than sharply dividing God from Man.”

Saving souls through Christianity and saving conservatism are two different arenas.

Not to a conservative, but when a pro-abortion/pro-homosexual, Mormon Bishop cult leader becomes the presidential nominee of the republican party then I would say that Mormons are winning, besides, if you feel as you do, then why are you making that argument here in the religion section and trying to shut us up?

How about Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, nonreligious Americans, Anglicans? Are they okay, or should we shun them also?

That is the first that I heard about shunning, are you making things up? For instance by asking that question although you read my post 53 ""Mormonism is a different religion than Christianity, yet it was designed to appear and sound like Christianity because it was designed to corrupt and deceive Christians.""

Wouldn't it be a shame to lose our freedom of religion because we excluded others who wanted the same right? We don't have to agree with them on religious beliefs, only on everyone's freedom to practice their faith in peace.

Since you are making up this bizarre attack that has nothing to do with this thread, I think you are revealing that you have a very hostile agenda against Christianity and conservatives speaking out in it's defense.

Your entire post seems to be a body of untruths and misdirection and a revelation that you have been concealing something that you really want to talk about and that you aren't out to defend Mormonism, but to attack Christianity and conservatism.

“There is no shared truths with Mormons and Christians because the Christians believe in the Bible while Mormons believe in another gospel.”

Just because you make such a comment, that doesn’t make it true. Jesus is my Savior, too, and I’m a Mormon. It is very sad that you feel the need to start down that crooked road again.

So...are you going to support a Muslim...that says they are "Conservative"? How about a Conservative Satanist?

I mean...come on..."What difference does it make??" ( Your words...and Hillary's, not mine...)

FWIW...I sent money to Mia Love.

But I'd never ever support RAT lover Orin Hatch....He's just another POSTER BOY for "TERM LIMITS"!! And why do "good mormon's" of Utah keep sending him to Washington...is interesting. And may be more about him being a mormon...than a Republican. But who knows!!??

“Spoken like a person who never read the Bible.”

I have read the Holy Bible from cover to cover more than once. John 3:16 is for Mormons, too.

Genesis 2:7

- And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

(The Bible does not say that God was once man and married a women and made celestial babies.....)

1 Timothy 2:5 - For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

( No need for Joseph Smith, the false prophet. )

.

( A good warning, you might want to read...)

No Other Gospel-- Galatians1:6-9

False Prophets and Teachers-- 2 Peter 2:1

1 John 4:1

- Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Matthew 22:30

How can you be saved if your Jesus is different from the Jesus of the Bible?

I don’t think that anyone disagrees that Joseph Smith included a Jesus when he created the religion of Mormonism.

“I don’t think that anyone disagrees that Joseph Smith included a Jesus when he created the religion of Mormonism.”

My Jesus is my Lord and Savior, the Son of God. You are free to degrade my faith, my Church, Joseph Smith, me and my beliefs all you want. You are a free agent.

But know this - my testimony: “ . . . for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”

God bless you.

Thank you, and all Christian denominations agree that mormonism is a different religion from Christianity, one created by Mr. Smith.

“all Christian denominations agree that mormonism is a different religion from Christianity, one created by Mr. Smith.”

Are you a parrot? I told you Jesus Christ is my Savior and I am a Mormon. I believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Sorry that’s not good enough for you. Luckily, you are not my judge; that job is reserved for Jesus Christ, my Advocate and Best Friend.

By the way, according to you, “all” Christian denominations believe the same way - namely, that Mormons are not Christians. Not sure if that’s true but I do know that many Christian denominations do not want to give up any of their power and money and prestige.

For all of the diversity among Christian denominations from Catholic to Southern Baptists from Methodists to the Eastern Orthodox, they do agree that Mormonism is a unique religion of it’s own, created by Mr. Smith of Vermont in the early 1800s and is not a part of the Christian faith.

Jesus died for Mormons, too, and I love Him and put all my trust in Him. If you think I am “not a part of the Christian faith” that does matter to me. What matters is that my Savior Jesus Christ accepts me. Have a good evening.

Yep, Jesus died for all of us, but he wants us to be Christians, not follow the religion of Mormonism.

Fine but we're not on the same side of the spiritual battle. I stand with the Gospel of the real historical Jesus Christ, not the fictional Jesus Christ of Joseph Smith. You claimed to have read the Bible - too bad you didn't read it with understanding or you would have clearly seen that Joseph Smith was a false teacher and fled from his false teaching.

That's a start; but for a good ETERNITY you need...

What Joseph Smith Means to Us  (From: various sources )

"He (Joseph Smith) is the man through whom God has spoken... yet I would not like to call him a savior, though in a certain capacity he was a god to us, and is to the nations of the earth, and will continue to be."
- Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 8:321

"You call us fools; but the day will be, gentlemen and ladies, whether you belong to this Church or not, when you will prize brother Joseph Smith as the Prophet of the Living God, and look upon him as a god..."
- Herber C. Kimball, Journal of Discourses 5:88

"If we get our salvation, we shall have to pass by him [Joseph Smith]; if we enter our glory, it will be through the authority he has received. We cannot get around him [Joseph Smith]"
- (as quoted in 1988 Melchizedek Priesthood Study Guide, p. 142)
There is "no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith. If Joseph Smith was verily a prophet, and if he told the truth...no man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God"
- Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p.190

"I tell you, Joseph holds the keys, and none of us can get into the celestial kingdom without passing by him. We have not got rid of him, but he stands there as the sentinel, holding the keys of the kingdom of God; and there are many of them beside him. I tell you, if we get past those who have mingled with us, and know us best, and have a right to know us best, probably we can pass all other sentinels as far as it is necessary, or as far as we may desire. But I tell you, the pinch will be with those that have mingled with us, stood next to us, weighed our spirits, tried us, and proven us: there will be a pinch, in my view, to get past them. The others, perhaps, will say, If brother Joseph is satisfied with you, you may pass. If it is all right with him, it is all right with me. Then if Joseph shall say to a man, or if brother Brigham say to a man, I forgive you your sins, "Whosoever sins ye remit they are remitted unto them;" if you who have suffered and felt the weight of transgression—if you have generosity enough to forgive the sinner, I will forgive him: you cannot have more generosity than I have. I have given you power to forgive sins, and when the Lord gives a gift, he does not take it back again."
- Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p.154-155

"It is because the Lord called Joseph Smith that salvation is again available to mortal men.... If it had not been for Joseph Smith and the restoration, there would be no salvation,"
- Bruce McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 396, 670

They succeeded in killing Joseph, but he had finished his work.
He was a servant of God, and gave us the Book of Mormon.
He said the Bible was right in the main, but, through the translators and others, many precious portions were suppressed, and several other portions were wrongly translated; and now his testimony is in force, for he has sealed it with his blood.
As I have frequently told them, no man in this dispensation will enter the courts of heaven, without the approbation of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jun.
Who has made this so?
Have I?
Have this people?
Have the world?
No; but the Lord Jehovah has decreed it.
If I ever pass into the heavenly courts, it will be by the consent of the Prophet Joseph.
If you ever pass through the gates into the Holy City, you will do so upon his certificate that you are worthy to pass.
Can you pass without his inspection?
No; neither can any person in this dispensation, which is the dispensation of the fulness of times.
In this generation, and in all the generations that are to come, everyone will have to undergo the scrutiny of this Prophet.
They say that they killed Joseph, and they will yet come with their hats under their arms and bend to him; but what good will it do them, unless they repent?
They can come in a certain way and find favor, but will they?
Brigham Young,

--JOURNAL OF DISCOURSES, vol. 8, p. 224
