Spain Agrees That Children Adopted From Morocco Will Remain Muslim

The Gatestone Institute reported yesterday that the government of Spain has agreed with the government of Morocco that Moroccan children adopted by Spanish families will be required remain culturally and religiously Muslim.  The Spanish government will create a "control mechanism" that will allow Moroccan religious authorities to monitor the children until they reach the age of 18 to see that they have not converted to Christianity. Spain agreed to these conditions so that Spanish families who are in the process of adopting Moroccan children can bring them to Spain.

Morocco has a high rate of child abandonment, and Spain has been an important source of adoptive parents for Moroccan chiidren.  As explained in a Morocco News Board report last year, in Islamic law raising a child that is not one's genetic offspring is encouraged, but the young person does not become the true child of the adoptive parents. Instead, in an arrangement known as kafala the child is monitored to assure that he or she is raised as a Muslim.  Because monitoring of children abroad is difficult, last year Morocco's Ministry of Justice and Freedoms issued Circular No. 40 S/2 providing that kafala would be allowed only for parents who reside permanently in Morocco. Spain's new arrangement allows Spanish parents to avoid the restrictions in Circular 40 S/2.

That should encourage adoption of abandoned children. (/sarc)

Spain probably agreed to it so that the adopting parents will look elsewhere to adopt, like eastern Europe.

Spain saved Europe from the Muslin invasion and is now surrendering to them.

Morocco has a high rate of child abandonment, and Spain has . . .

Morocco has a high rate of child abandonment, and Spain has agreed to raise adopted children with the failed Moroccan culture? I'm sure that makes sense to liberals.

there are ways to surreptitiously raise a child in the beliefs of his parents, it has been done for thousands of years under oppressive regimes

there also is the rite of Baptism which no imam patrol can undo

“Spain saved Europe from the Muslin invasion and is now surrendering to them.”

I was thinking the same thing. Don’t they remember it took 500 years to get rid of them the last time?

In at least a dozen other cases, Spaniards have converted to Islam in order to obtain custody over "their" children, especially if they are girls.

Apparently the Muslim law makes it somewhat easier if it's a girl, -- or are Moroccan girls a prized commodity for someone? It is indicative, anyway, of a shocking loss of Christian and national identity in Spain.

So the children are to be deprived of religious freedom. And what is the controlling mechanism if the child opts out of the death cult?

Muslim parents abandon children in droves. Christians take in the children and care for them. But the Muslims won’t let the child they abandoned leave the faith that abandoned them.
Feeding, educating and clothing a child that isn’t “yours” but a foreign child subject to foreign laws - that’s just a long term hoteling arrangement at Christian expense, like the Shariah laws that said Christians had to give any Muslim visitor free food and shelter for three days.

It is ironic that no human being can convert a Muslim to Christianity. It is completely the work of God and only God can convert any human after birth to a Christian believer.

Likewise, no human institution can prevent another from having faith in Christ. Distract, counterfeit, substitute, interfere, obfuscate,...yes, but never does such an effort have more power or authority than the hand of God.

Spain has a birthrate hovering around 1.0, and that includes the Moslem birthrate. They don’t want to have their own children, so why would they adopt Moroccans?

Oh, I wonder if it’s to feed the homosexual adoption market ... that could have some colorful outcomes vis-a-vis the Moroccan religious enforcers!

“Oh, I wonder if it’s to feed the homosexual adoption market”

If this is true then they are just dividing by zero.

This is nuts. Nobody is going to pour their heart and soul into adopting a child, in order to indoctrinate him in a religio-cultural system which the adoptive parents do not believe in.

But then American parents give their own children over to public schools, K-12 and on to the University --- so the kids can be indoctrinated in a religio-cultural system the parents do not believe in.

Unless you really do believe in the leftism, moral relativism, and hostility to religious practice and belief found in the public schools.

Hmm...
