Jews do not accept Jesus as the messiah because: Jesus did not fulfill the messianic prophecies. Jesus did not embody the personal qualifications of the Messiah. Biblical verses "referring" to Jesus are mistranslations. Jewish belief is based on national revelation.

Scattered Israel was lost and among the rest of the family of mankind. Remember the blessing of the "multitudes" of descendents of Abraham (the stars of the sky and the sand of the seas) went to Joseph's son Ephraim and not to Jacob's son Judah.
Later at the time of Solomon's great sin of taking foreign wives(he was so wise?) and the splitting of the kingdom Judah and Benjamin were given into the hand of Rehoboam in Jerusalem and continued the family line that was the Jews. The rest of Jacob's tribe (all Israel) were not Jews but were the lost sheep.
Jesus was from both Houses. Mary, his mother, was cousin to Elizabeth (mother of John the Baptist) who is described as being a descendant of Aaron (Luke 1:5), thus making Mary a descendant of Aaron as well as from David's lineage.
According to Ben Sirach, the descent in the Davidic line works differently from the descent of the children of Aaron. Descent in the Davidic line is only from father to son, while descent from Aaron passes through all children, male and female. Jesus can only be an heir to David through his father Joseph, but he could be an heir to Aaron through his mother’s family.
What we know about Mary’s family and ancestry is that she is a blood relative of Elizabeth, wife of the priest Zechariah. Elizabeth herself is described as a daughter of Aaron, carrying the inheritance of the children of Aaron. As her blood relative, Mary can also be expected to be a daughter of the house of Aaron and Jesus to receive from his mother the right of descent that would make it possible for him to be the priestly messiah, the Messiah of Aaron.

There are four things that are important about Miriam:

We believe that Jesus is the Messiah because the New Testament books were the records of EYEWITNESSES to the events surrounding him. Most of the early Christians were Jewish and they were looking for the coming of the Messiah, much like devout Jews to this day STILL do. They knew the signs that would prove the Messiah was legitimate and I do not doubt for one moment that had Jesus failed to fulfill them, he would have been rejected by these very people.
John the Baptist's father was a priest of the Jewish temple, Zechariah. He had a visitation from an angel of the Lord:

In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly. But they were childless because Elizabeth was not able to conceive, and they were both very old.
Once when Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God, he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to go into the temple of the Lord and burn incense. And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled worshipers were praying outside.
Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
Zechariah asked the angel, “How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.” The angel said to him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time.”
Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering why he stayed so long in the temple. When he came out, he could not speak to them. They realized he had seen a vision in the temple, for he kept making signs to them but remained unable to speak.
When his time of service was completed, he returned home. After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”
Luke 1:57-66
When it was time for Elizabeth to have her baby, she gave birth to a son. Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they shared her joy.
On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah, but his mother spoke up and said, “No! He is to be called John.” They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who has that name.”
Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God. All the neighbors were filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judea people were talking about all these things. Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, “What then is this child going to be?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.
That was the story of just one of the devout Jewish people who were looking for the coming of the Messiah. There was another man who was also very devout. His name was Simeon. Also, a woman, named Anna, a Prophetess. Here is their story:
Luke 2:22-40
When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”) and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.”
Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”
The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him. Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.”
There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.
When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.
Every person ever born must make a choice whether or not to believe that Jesus is the savior of the world - their OWN savior. Wise men STILL seek him. The criteria each needs to make that decision, is available to them if they diligently and sincerely seek to know it. Like the Lord God said in Deuteronomy 4:29 -"But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul." And to Jeremiah, the prophet in Jeremiah 29:13 -"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
The Lord keeps ALL His promises.
Jesus Christ and His disciples were all Jewish.
Judas though, wasn’t saved.
Study the mystery of the blindness of Israel in the New Testament.
It is to glorify Him even more.

Who could blame them? It seems the Jewish people have a long history of persecution. Pharaoh tried to murder them. The Romans and King Herod certainly did their best. Before the coming of the Messiah, Jesus, the devil was working overtime to stop his birth by annihilating the people he was to be born through and/or trying to kill him as a baby before he could set up his kingdom. When that didn't work, the devil deceived weak and fallible men to think they were doing God a favor by killing those who they blamed for killing Jesus. NONE of it was what God wanted. Those people who committed such atrocities WILL answer to God for them. They were NOT doing the work Jesus commanded.
You can't force someone to believe any more than you can force him to fall in love. The devil is STILL attacking the "chosen people" because he thinks he can thwart God's plans to fulfill ALL his promises to them as a nation and a people. The devil will NOT succeed. God will do as HE wills. Part of His plan is that he will bring his people back to their land and establish them again as a nation. That was fulfilled in 1948. One day, soon I believe, he will open the eyes and ears of his people:
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. (Zechariah 12:9,10)
In my opinion, no one is more responsible fir genocide against Jews than Martin Luther. If you read his writings on the subject it is impossible to not understand his negative impact upon Jews.
Considering that his views helped launch a major faction of Christianity in Europe, it is inarguable that he planted the seeds that took root.
As a Jew, to me, Luther can take a seat next to Hitler for the extermination of my people. I have zero against today’s Lutherans. Heck, I married one, but after reading Luther, I wish he had been murdered before attaining popularity.

Truthfully I do not know that much about Martin Luther’s ideas, and I do feel sincerely terrible that you would have this opinion of him and thereby Christians.
I agree with you that many horrible things have been done in the name of Christianity- but we can expect that from reading the Bible.
Many horrible things are done in the name of “God”.
I agree with you that many lazy people do not understand God, but that is not exclusive to any group or denomination.
People are lazy against God.
I do promise you that I will look up Martin Luther and study this, that you say, and pray about.
I love Jewish people and Judaism and Israel, and I would never kill of them. The violence against Jews , by Nazis has always been a heavy pain in my heart since I was a small child. I can understand that passion that you feel, and I am honestly sorry that you have this pain over Martin Luther.
I do believe God has a purpose for all things under the sun, even the most horrific and painful and seemingly insensible of things.

As I have stated earlier, my problem is not with Christianity or any other religion. People sometimes do evil things and cloak themselves in their religion.
There are some Jews who do the same thing. I feel no more compassion for them than I do for the others.
The reason this is such a hot button for me is that both my parents went through the Holocaust. My father was in seven concentration camps. His parents were murdered. My mother escaped Many on the Kindertransport. All of her siblings and her parents were murdered.

I completely understand your justified angst. My spirit is stirred and ill at ease at these stories. My heart swells with sadness at your stories. It is horrific.
If it means anything to you, my family served in WW2 proudly, and believed Jewish people to be good people.
It actually cost my Father as well, as he lost his family in upheaval- and grew up without a Father, because of the war. Hitler was a horrible criminal against humankind.
I never learned anything other than that. That is a heavy, heavy pain for you. I am so sorry. I would like to pray for your whole family, that you have a blanket and covering of peace and understanding.
I go to a temple tonight and observe Hanukkah, and I think Jewish people are beautiful. I honor your grandparents and loved ones, and all of your people.

So you admit that John 19 misrepresents the meaning of Zechariah 12?

34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
