The Cult has started a new ad campaign in New York [Where the Mormon tithe & temple fits in]

How about being straight up and saying that Mormons put on costumes and chant rituals in secret buildings that only 10% of gross earnings paid as "tithes" allow entrance?

Mormonism wants people to think they are normal that they are just Christians like everyone else. Each year they get rid of more and more of their embarrassing doctrines - or doctrines that aren't politically correct anymore. Apologist attack dogs fight any critics on technicalities.

Mormonism has one thing that works for them - and that is the funneling of cash from members to the Cult coffers. This is done through mandatory tithe. And in order to make this tithe work - and make the member believe in the Cult enough to pay - they have to have the secret temple ceremonies. You have to put a ton of make believe in there.

Stephen R. Donaldson is one of my favorite authors. In one of his series of books he explained how a great and noble group of leaders were slowly corrupted through the centuries by simple infiltration of ideas. The ideas changed the group slowly until they went from helping people to human sacrifices. The new leaders of the group knew what was going on - but they surrounded themselves with those who only had faith - not knowledge. Those who had faith were much stronger because they were driven by the new cult. Those who held faith were much easier to control.

Pondering the story Donaldson had written I saw the same manifested in the Cult of Mormonism. If you have members who are so convinced you are the one and only true Cult, they will not hesitate to open their pocketbooks and hand over everything. Mormonism needs this kind of special, secret, garment wearing, new name, pay lay ale - in order to keep the tithes flowing. If the cat is out of the bag, the tithing will stop.

So the reality is there is a certain point where Mormonism must stop moving towards Christianity - it has to because money is ultimately the top priority of the Cult. Money - Power - Control.

Look at all the recovery boards right now - even the NOM boards. What is the #1 topic right now because of upcoming December? Tithing. Tithing. Tithing. Oh and don't forget tithing. Sign up for tithing settlement. And don't forget to sign up for tithing settlement.

“All of our messaging is focused on helping people understand that Mormons are Christian,”

Naw, Mormonism isn't a Christian church. It's a secretive Cult with very cultish practices and it has to stay that way - or go broke.

The Gospel is not the Bible and the Bible is not the Gospel.

The Bible contains the Gospel.

I believe the Book of Mormon also contains the Gospel

Well D.U. that is the best explanation I've received from a mormon since I dunno when....Frankly you sound like Bill Clinton..and "It depends on the meaning of is!" You may as well join the Democrat Party like Harry Reid, and the other mormon Dim's.

A tax isn't a tax...and a tax isn't really a tax.

I've learned to just relax and watch the entertainment as they get wound up.

Yup; stay out of the fray until you get some effective ammo.

Asking for details and specific threads is just foolish and we all know it.

So; THIS is how YOU get out of jury duty?

D “said, stop trying to (mis)interpret me for others. Jesus was Fully God and Fully man,”
G “A ‘god’ DU, not THE God. very distinctive point. Or have you become a trinitarian? Otherwise, you are mistating mormon teaching -”

Not misstating at all and not Trinitarian.

I find it interesting that I keep saying the same thing, have been for years, and you keep misunderstanding the meaning in different ways.

The Godhead is (I'll try again) God the Father, Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit (or spirit of God, Holy Ghost, etc.) are three personages who individually are God, collectively are God for they are one. see http://www.freerepublic.com/~delphiuser/#TheOnenessofGod

G “Smith specifically makes it plural - thus Jesus would be “a” god not THE God, you are misrepresenting mormon doctrine on the subject.”

Let's face it, when discussing God, mere mortal minds cannot easily comprehend even the smallest aspect. Trinitarians got around the oneness of God by claiming he was one substance, but three manifestations at the same time (which breaks the laws of physics), Modalists believe that God shifts from one “mode” (Jesus mode) to God the Father (Jehovah mode?) to Spirit mode... which has some problems with of Jesus standing on(at) God the Father's right hand, etc.

A being with one mind, but three physical manifestations that are separate in substances is polytheism to you? LOL!

It's just not that simple, and we are not polytheists.

G “”Have you truly repented DU?”
D “Not that it's any of your business, yes, I believe I have.”
G “What? You don't know if you have truly repented?”
Do you? Have you ever sinned since then? Or do you believe that a baptized infant who grows up to be a mass murderer is saved in complete unjustness?
G DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS 58:43: “By this ye may know if a man repenteth of his sins—behold, he will confess them and forsake them.”
G “I mean you are either living a completely sin free life or you havn’t repented DU. So have you truly repented?”
Well, you see, I keep sinning, and repenting, it's cyclical, and you seem to be casting yourself as a “Barracks room lawyer” I don't think you'll be there when I am being judged, so I'll stick with Jesus as my advocate, but thanks for the offer.

The hate is in the intent that is conveyed, not the words.

Like the words that lovable MORMONs uttered in #18?

...because it is the cost for being in a community they value.

Their 'valued community' is going to be sorely lacking; as only about 15% of all MORMONs have a Temple Recommend® - which DEMANDS a 'full' tithe.

Charging those who oppose evil with being hateful is a duplicitous liberal tactic...

But that's ALL they've got; as they CANNOT defend MORMONism any other way!

“If this seems incompatible with the Jesus you read about in the new testament, I submit that the prophecies of how Jesus will behave toward the wicked in the last day will also be incompatible with your image of Jesus.”

I believe that Jesus in his first coming came to teach love and understanding, and that 3 Nephi is not consistent with this teaching. I will use your quote of Luke 9:56: “For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”

I interpret “is not come to destroy men’s lives” to mean that Jesus did not come the first time to destroy men’s lives. Including men in the Americas. I welcome your arguments otherwise.

So, I believe Luke and Nephi are inconsistent. As noted before, for that and other reasons I do not think the Book of Mormon is true. Again I welcome your arguments otherwise.

You then appear to assume that I think that Jesus will not pass judgement during his second coming. That assumption would be a false assumption.

Frankly I don’t know when, how, or to what extent judgement will come during His second coming, but my limited mind doesn’t exclude some “Old Testament” type conduct. So don’t worry about me being surprised too much on that account.

Take care
FL

There comes a point in an argument like this when the other side makes you laugh.

And, when the other side REALLY needs to have some EVIDENCE other than laughing and/or name calling.

While mere ACCUSATIONs of hate makes me holler: Where's the BEEF?

Not individually, but when someone makes those sentiments obvious, time after time, I think it does.

I keep posting the EVIDENCE of MORMONism's HATE toward Christianity (see #18) and our illustrious FR MORMONs poo-poo it away, if not ignore it compoletely.

please show me in detail (date, thread #) where I have spouted hate?

There are no details to point out, that’s why. The hate is in the intent that is conveyed, not the words. Asking for details and specific threads is just foolish and we all know it.

During this election cycle, Mormons were routinely barred from this forum, anti-Mormons could and would say whatever they wanted with no rebut from us.

And now you losers have amnesty for your nastiness: so respond all you want.

I'll wait.

I honestly have a lot of trouble with Mormonism, not so much with the theology as with the authoritarian power structure and the minimal archeological evidence for the BoM.

EVERY mormon that is connected to the SLC power structure should have TROUBLE with their religion!!

It appears that they are DAMNED!!!

"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;

and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,

and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.

Brigham Young - JoD 3:266 (July 14, 1855)

Right; DU??
