Pray for our American Heroes

Blessed Father, we come to You, for it is out of Your riches alone that all our needs are met.

Father, we pray that You would keep our military men and women in Your grace. Even when our earthly leaders fail them, let Your providence keep them.

Lord, Tuesday's verdict has left us disappointed and apprehensive about what the future holds. But we commit ourselves to You, trusting that You are always working Your good purposes.

LORD, Your glorious throne, exalted from the beginning, is the place of our sanctuary. Beneath Your wings we find refuge, a shade from the heat and a shelter from the storm. You are the one who makes a way in the wilderness, and You are the one who makes streams in the desert; those who hope in You will not be disappointed. But everyone who forsakes You will be put to shame; those who turn away from You will be written in the dust, for they have forsaken the LORD, the spring of living water. O LORD, the hope of Israel, You are the well that won't run dry, the spring that never fails, and we come to You to drink, in the Name and through the work of Jesus our Savior, Amen.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence.
