Folks we should go easy on Dave.

He is not one of legions sent here to lead sheep astray, his religious beliefs were dragged out of him by our questions.

He, like Saundra are free to believe whatever they wish, and are free to accept the eternal consequnces of those decisions.

We have shown them both the truth, but where swedenborgians and mormons differ is in the aggressive recruiting tactics, which we are duty bound to counter.

Dave has not been recruiting here. He is not part of an organization which covets political control over our lives. He has not lied to us or covered up truth or history as far as I can see.

Dave I hope you see the light.

I understand Swedenborgians desire to affiliate with the Mormons, they ARE linked. The mormons #1 recruiting tool is the ripped off "plan of salvation". Problem is the mormons are more successful so swedenborgians want to ride their coattails a bit, in the same way that mormons want to ride the coattails of Christianity.

I certainly agree that they are free to believe whatever they wish, but I am duty bound to counter the errors in the teachings that they purport with the truth of God’s word.

I don’t see them as part of a conspiracy designed to lead others astray. They sincerely believe they are right and are sharing what they believe to be truth.

It’s not their motives I have issues with, but rather the deceptiveness of the teachings they adhere to. It’s those teachings which are designed to lead people astray. And it’s those teachings I will contrast with the truth from Scripture.

I want to reach out to Mormons, not my Church necessarily. I am building my own circles locally and online. I'm far now from Bryn Athyn, where I spent a good part of my life

I picked up my Bible this morning, stuck my thumb near the back and came up with this:

I still do not see any linkage between a Swedish movement of modalism and Mormon's multiple gods. They are as diametrically opposite to me as Islam and Hinduism.
