Doug I believe you are what’s called a wet blanket.

Many people prefer not to observe Halloween for any number of reasons. I don’t because I don’t believe Jesus Christ would want me to...others may not have the money in these times of high unemployment. Ergo; here’s a simple rule everyone should be able to understand...porch light on, come get your goodies. Porch light off, move on.

There is a fourth category...people who have other things to do and can't be bothered answering the damn doorbell every two minutes...

No, you're wrong. I actually fall into the first category.

Hey, “the golf gods” ... ever hear that one? I hear it all the time. Oh, just a joke! Uh huh, uh huh. Tell me another one.

Alright, that was funny!

Obedience to G-d and sharing his faith makes him a ‘wet blanket’? That’s a bit harsh...

My purpose is to show others that Jesus Christ had holy days that he asked his followers to observe. They are listed in Leviticus chapter 23. That’s what Christ intended and what he intended for his followers.

Leviticus 23 is also quite specific about how these Holy days are to be celebrated. Are you doing everything as proscribed, say, for the Festival of Weeks?

There's not much proscribed and what is proscribed I agree with and do not engage in. But I'm assuming you meant to use another word besides proscribed.

the article is wrong -- the poster Claud pointed out on another thread
All Saints had nothing to do with Samhain originally. The earliest Irish martyrologies show that the Irish Church celebrated All Saints day in April. It was later moved to November 1st to bring it in line with the Roman All Saints Day. The Roman All Saints Day was chosen to commemorate the dedication of a Church to All the Saints on that day....the Romans didn't give a rat's rear about Samhain or Celtic religion in general.

As I gave candy last night I also advised to, “Brush your teeth.”

Thanks for restating that.

The amount of historical BS that’s passed as settled truth on the Christian holidays is overwhelming at times.

The Encyclopedia of Religion explains: "Halloween is the name for the eve of Samhain.

The Encyclopedia of Religion should be ashamed of itself. Halloween is a contraction for "All Hallows E'en", or "All Hallows (i.e. All Saints) Evening". "Halloween" just means is the evening before All Saints Day. It's not a name for Samhain AT ALL. The name is purely Christian.

Ouch, you are correct, the use of proscribe was incorrect. Wildly incorrect at that. Oh for an edit button. And now it’s really hard to ask a somewhat snarky question after botching my word choice.

Change proscribe to prescribe. You can take it from there (or not).

Assuming you're genuinely curious what's observed is that which can be observed under the new covenant. For example, sacrifices are covered by the shed blood of Christ per the book of Hebrews.

If you're still curious there's more information at this link about these holy days.

Take care...

I believe the same. Jesus Christ wouldn't do it and he would never tell others to do it. There are biblical holy days that were created by him that he asks his followers to observe.
