My neighbors could use a lot of prayers for comfort and strength today and this coming week. Their son, a 23 years old Army Ranger, died this past week. The body was supposed to arrive today but has been delayed for some reason. The CO of his Ranger unit and about a hundred guys from his unit are here today and there's a question of how many can stay around until the funeral which is now going to happen on Monday or Tuesday rather than on Sunday as originally planned.
The family is in pretty bad shape over this, as they had just recently spent some time with their son working out how he could move back here. He wasn't going to be able to reenlist because wounds he had received in both Iraq and Afghanistan were causing lingering problems. It had taken them a good while to get used to the idea that he loved the Army and was planning to make a career of it, then when he couldn't reenlist, they were very excited about his coming home. They'd even managed to get him somewhat comfortable with the idea of leaving the Army and moving back here with his wife and son.
This past week he died in his sleep for no apparent reason. The toxicology report was clean and the autopsy didn't show anything obvious so the cause of death is still a unknown. They could use the aid and comfort of prayer help along with the dispatch of a few extra angels to get them through this. Understandably, is father and little brother are having a really tough time of it. His mother and sister seem to be doing OK for now, but knowing them its going to all hit them like a ton of bricks once the funeral is over. His wife and three year old son are going to arrive today and I gather they're not holding up very well even though Ranger families have stayed with her constantly since he died. Rangers look after one another like family, so thats helping a lot. Losing your husband and daddy are still tough, even with the strong Ranger family around you.
Any prayers of comfort and strength for these folks would be greatly appreciated.
Jesus Christ marveled at the faith of the Centurion for good reason because those who serve know what it means to put your life in the hands of your brothers in arms.
Prayers for all concerned.
Prayers up.
