Ive always thought well of Carrie Underwood, the season four winner of American Idol. I even have her praise and worship song, Jesus Take the Wheel, on my Ipod.
Alas, the country Christian gal from Oklahoma, as E!Online described her, has gone Hollywood on us.
In an interview with The Independent, a British tabloid, Underwood declared her support for same-sex marriage.
As I married person myself, she said, I dont know what its like to be told I cant marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I cant imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.
Well, Carrie, does that apply to Erin Sayer, the 35-year-old Brooklyn high school teacher who had a love jones for a 16-year-old student she tutored?
Or how about Valerie Darger, who fell in love with husband Joe, who already happened to be married to her twin sister Vicki and yet another wife, Alina?
And what of the 24-year-old daughter of former Columbia University professor David Epstein who loved to make love to daddy?
Do they have the right to love, and love publicly, the people they want to love?
I think not.
What I find most disturbing about Underwoods comment is that, like President Obama last month, she attributes her twisted thinking on same-sex marriage to her professed Christian faith.
Above all, she said, God wanted us to love others. Its not about setting rules, or [saying] everyone has to be like me. No. Were all different. Thats what makes us special. We have to love each other get on with each other. Its not up to me to judge anybody.
That doesnt sound to me like the Gospel, but like some new age Hollywood mumbo-jumbo.
Sure, were to love others. But were also to hate sin. And the Bible clearly states that carnal love between persons of the same sex is a sin.
Carrie Underwood and her ungodly friends in Hollywood Babylon can muster whatever dubious arguments they want in support of same-sex marriage.
But that will never make it right in the eyes of God.
Ah! Yes, precisely. I don’t use the term gay - it’s all homosexuality. Funny how the entire meme of sex-selective abortion came up, it went away just as quickly.
No wurries ... we’re all friends here ....
Anyone in show business who needs their hair fixed and their wardrobe selected is probably pressured to do just what she’s done.....OR ELSE.
Yep
You noticed that too? I didn’t see her supporting gay marriage in her answer. I don’t support the gay agenda at all or gay marriage. I do support individual rights of all people as given by God. I can also understand that it is upsetting to people to be told they cannot have something they feel they are entitled to. Doesn’t mean I support giving it to them just because they want it.
This sounds like an artful non-answer to me. She just vaguely talked about how we’re all different and how love is great. Hardly a “betrayal” or endorsement of anything.
I'm sure if we took a bunch of public-school trained "multi-culturalists" and conservative relativists and put them in a room, they could all find things that they disagree with in regards to each others worldviews. Do we really have to spend our lives running around and chastising people who arent tolerant enough like me?
There.
With the proper bold-faced insertions, fixed it!
So, which do you qualify as, turn_to? The relativist or the public-school trained "Multi-culturalist" who perhaps leans post-modernist?
Well...if the subject was polygamy...and Carrie Underwood said in regard to a polygamist: As I married person myself, she said, I dont know what its like to be told I cant marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I cant imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love. ...Above all, she said, God wanted us to love others. Its not about setting rules, or [saying] everyone has to be like me. No. Were all different. Thats what makes us special. We have to love each other get on with each other. Its not up to me to judge anybody.
I think that would be quite clear that Carrie was promoting polygamy.
And, as a matter of fact, her statements were sooooo open-ended, that they actually DO wind up embracing ALL kinds of illicit relationships: Polygamy, polyandry, bigamy, affairs, etc.
Eric Cartman Christian
(for those in rio linda, the southpark character, eric, decides to become a christian singer rock star for profit. He says whatever it takes to simulate faith in order to make money)
Carrie Underwood is categorically NOT a Christian artist. She is an artist, who, like many others, professes to be a Christian.
Her music is almost entirely secular.
She is a pop star of the country persuasion.
So glad I don’t depend on Underwood as my moral compass. :-)
"Carrie Underwood is categorically NOT a Christian artist. She is an artist, who, like many others, professes to be a Christian."
Oh, well, then your entertainment dollars aren't going to a hypocrite, they're going to a hypocrite. That makes all the difference in the world. Like going to Disney World, just not going to Disney World during 'gay pride' week.
Well let the games begin, and hope they have a good stand-up comic to be the MC who tells jokes while they drag out the corpses after the executions and between matches.
Like I've said before, when people are taught that each individual should interpret Scripture for themselves you can be sure they won't interpret it in any way that comes between them and making a buck.
It is depressing to see how easy it has been to brainwash young people into believing that disgusting practices should be sanctioned by society. In my mind, there are few things more disgusting than homosexual practices.
As Mark Levin asks, how does society satisfy the BIsexuals? I thought that Utah had to disavow polygamy to become a state. Bob
Not a fan of pop music or Carrie Underwood but this is a disappointment. If Underwood hadn’t used her alleged ‘Christianity’ to justify her approval of same-sex marriage it wouldn’t be so frustrating. Either she is incredibly uninformed on what the bible teaches (quite likely) or a fraud using her ‘Christianity’ as a ploy to gain fans. I assume it’s the former. Still, a disappointment.
Does she know that few homosexuals even want marriage? And the few that do, will get divorced at a faster clip than ordinary couples.
She is a naif who knows only what passes in front of her gaze. Gay couples do not SEEM to be different than others, she thinks, and therefore, what they do is OK.
If you believe in Gay Marriage and Polygamy, you have to believe in Incestuous Marriage.
It's an all or nothing proposition. As the Mare Sarah Jessica Parker recently said, “Obama is the guy who says you should be able to Marry anyone you want”.
Liberals have no sense of commitment. A prime example is Chaz Bono. She wants to be Man, but she still hasn't turned her “inny” into an “outie”. Until she does, she is just a blind Pirates Dream on Hormones.
You mean like the Chicks, Carrie might have to resign herself to only earning 200 times what the average American earns, instead of 700 times as much? Somehow, I think poor Carrie will survive even if she goes the way of the Dixie Chicks. The so-called ruination of which is a pet peeve of mine since it's completely fabricated. While idiots celebrated a victory of principal, the chicks just continued to get richer and richer.
Really, it's amazing how stupid we can be when it comes to these topics. There is psychology that I honestly can't name at work, where some poor working stiff who earns a median wage feels qualified to call a man failure because he went from being the CEO from the #1 ranked Fortune 500 company to the 499th, even though both positions are light years ahead of what he himself will ever achieve.
