Great little tidbit there. It speaks volumes. Prayer is sometimes all that someone who is ill has at their disposal.
Should be made mandatory in all public appearance for nuns and priests and bishops.

If you actually read it, what the Pope is evidently talking about is ensuring that the habit is appropriate to circumstances. Garb suitable for Sweden is not likely to be suitable for humid tropical climates. Garb for hospital work should be suitable for the environment so the nun or priest do not carry disease from ward to ward, etc.
I wish I could post this picture on my facebook, but I don’t know how.
I’m originally from Nebraska and the nuns there had winter habits of black wool, and summer habits of white something, maybe gabardine — do I have that spelled right?
OMG. Helen Thomas. Coulda been a Nun.
I went to Catholic elementary school. We didn't have much money, and my mom was a dressmaker, so she handled part of the tuition by making the nuns new habits.

When they did away with habits, the Good Sisters became like everyone else and lost the respected and differential treatment they had received as Habit wearing nuns. Many left the orders.
I would like to see them return to the habits and once again be the Brides of Christ and follow Church teaching,
Get rid of the feminist Dykes now posing as Nuns and go back to serving God, and not their homosexual urges.
Yes, indeed.
I read a book, published in the 1990s, which was in French and about regional folklore. They had a exhibit from a museum, which included a manniquin dressed in the traditional Daughters of Charity habit.
The caption noted that when this was made - in the early 1970s - they had asked the order to donate a "cornette" (headcover) to the museum. But in all France, not one existed. The sisters kindly agreed to make one up - at that time, many sisers still had lived in, and remembered, the traditional style.
The folklore museum commented that the cornette had once been one of the most familiar and characteristic sights in France, yet had vanished so suddenly.
Yikes!
