Keira Knightley Regrets Being Atheist (Not Really)
Skeptical Science ^ | 5-2-2012 | Dave Gamble

Actor Keira Knightley, a self-confessed atheist, says she is desperate to be Catholic because she would “just get to ask for forgiveness”. “It sounds much better than having to live with guilt. It’s absolutely extraordinary. If only I wasn’t an atheist, I could get away with anything,”

If she wants, she can buy infants and bash their brains out on rocks. She can give boxes of poisoned candies to elderly people living in nursing homes.

Of course, according to orthodox Christianity, she can do all that s**t for fifty years, then come to Jesus, and everything's cool.

As opposed to any of those old folks she poisoned....if any of them lived a polite, law abiding life for eighty years, but to their dying day remained honest doubters about God, well, they be fryin' for all eternity!

listened to believers telling you that they hold the high moral ground and that without belief atheists have no morals and can do whatever they wish.

The King is set on the throne in spite of the opposition from the heathen (Ps. 2:5-6). Where there is no king, everyone makes his for her own rules and standards. Before God gave a king to the Israelites, "everyone did what was right in his own eyes" (Judg. 17:6). Those who are not submitted to the king have their own system of how to live. There are many philosophies of living that are accepted, and many of them are in rebellion to the rule of God. The reign of God is in the hearts of men.God's law is placed in our hearts through the new covenant.God rules us through the establishment of His law in the heart.

This is from Interview magazine. It's not really much of a magazine. I mean, you can buy it if you want, but the "interviews" in it aren't something you can take seriously, are they?

Isn't the whole thing just a vehicle to sell clothing and accessories? I mean more than even those magazines like Vogue and Elle. The "interviews" like this one are just mindless and pointless conversations between nitwits intended to break up the pages of fashion photos.

Cronenberg had Gingrich on his mind for some reason and Kiera follows him there. Then he has something about Christians to air and she comes back with being an atheist. It's not like she went into the conversation gunning for Republicans or evangelicals.

Actor Keira Nightly Theres a guy named Keira Nightly who also acts? What an odd coincidence

I believe that in show biz circles, actor describes either sex and actress is only used if absolutely necessary to differentiate for a purpose.

I know a few born-again Christians who absolutely believe that they can sin as much as they want as long as they ask God for forgiveness (but with intent to sin again).

I know Catholics like that who say they'll just go to confession, blah, blah, blah.

Doesn’t quite work that way. The Orthodox churches would prefer that even after 50 years of monstrosity you stopped, for any reason, but about all they could do would be to praise you for stopping.

They note the ambiguity of heaven deciding to forgive you or not, since they can’t tell if you really mean to repent or not. Plus, you are in no way pardoned from Earthly punishments for your misdeeds.

So the bottom line is that they are glad you stopped, and hope heaven recognizes your true repentance if you have any, and if you’re going to prison followed by death and condemnation, that’s just a darned shame.

No “Get Out Of Hell Free” card, though. At least from them.

Many atheists think they know everything about religious people but this just proves - once again - they have no idea what they are talking about. They believe their intellect is flawless and they’ve got it all figured out. Their assumptions they have about everything can’t possibly be wrong.

Her assumption that because we ask for forgiveness, we have no guilt, is her fatal logic flaw. People can still feel guilt about something even when we know we are forgiven. We retain memory of what we’ve done. It isn’t magic or memory-erasing. that is part of what we still have to live with. We live with it for multiple reasons, namely to help us not do it again, or in the case of inaction, to not let us be inactive again.

It is sad really that some people who have nothing to do with religion think they know more about it than those in it. Nobody says it makes you perfect. Nobody says it vanishes all your daily problems. Nobody says you have to follow everything perfectly. But there’s a difference in trying to instead of actively opposing those trying to.

It’s the typical atheist statements like hers that show just how close-minded and rigid these secular, “open minded”, “free thinking” individuals truly are (not).

Yes, and the current fashion of blurring distinctions between genders irritates me to no end.

All this is an accident, Kiera.

Honest.

She needs to do nothing more than to ask God for forgiveness, to say The Lords Prayer as Christ told the masses on The Sermon on the Mount to do. From there she need only to find the nearest Catholic church in her area, ask the monsignor or a priest there to baptize her in the Name of The Lord and start attending Mass. She should also ask to hear her confession heard as well. It’s no big deal to become one with the True Faith and the true Church. We hate the sin and love the sinner. Our faith is about the love Christ preached, not castigating people because they’ve chosen a false path previously.

In Kids Say the Darndest Things, Art Linkletter tells of a little girl who was asked what she wanted to do when she grew up, who replied, "I want to be an actress like Jack Benny."

I think she’s heard the knock and is busy trying to avoid the door.

Pretty sure her conscience is getting to her. Catholicism is the easiest target, but I think we’ll be seeing Keira come about pretty soon.

Ms. Knightly does not know what her faith is not, or is. Her muddled mind is a product of our educational malaise and cultural depravity. Here, she is parroting prevalent film industry opinion. Some day, I hope, her mind will awaken. For now, however, she would not listen to rubes such as us.

This has been general opinion for a generation. Try bemoaning declining religious faith at a Romney fundraiser.

I had a nun who once imparted a great bit of wisdom to me in the sixth grade. Sister Rita James(r.i.p) of The Sisters of Charity once told me “Young man, never discount the spiritually transforming experience of pain’’. Aside from the feeling of physical pain there is also the spiritual, the ‘’ longing for’’ feeling of pain, an emptiness and maybe this is what Ms. Knight is feeling. Christ is there for us always, for saints and sinners. The parable of The Lost Sheep comes to my mind.

The author is perpetuating a myth. Knightley did not mention Catholicism in her interview.

We live in a world of which Satan is god....

Worse. We live in a world where man is god.
