Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez wiped tears from his face as he pleaded for life in his fight against an undisclosed cancer at a Catholic mass in his home state of Barinas.
... "If this was necessary, may it be welcome," Chavez said, who wore a white T-shirt under a blue and white track suit. "But I ask God to give me life, however painful. I can carry 100 crosses, your crown of thorns, but don't take me yet. I still have things to do."

I guess he is smelling the sulfur.
All that said, even at the last moment he will be forgiven if he has true repentence. But I’m not sure he’s capable of it.
I hope he repents. Jesus died for his sins as well.
Right now would be a good time for the Church to excommunicate him...That's public politics and has nothing to do with Chavez' private personal relationship with God... or lack of one.
But Im not sure hes capable of it.Everyone is capable of it. That doesn't mean he will actually do it, but everyone is capable of it.
Correct although I hadn't thought of the woman praying NOT to get AIDS while fornicating. Horrible, though accurate, picture in my brain.
The others won't take notice. That's the irony of sin--NEVER "MY" fault. For some reason sin fogs the brains and leads people to think that THEY can get away with it. It's not all Satan's fault; we walk into sin with EYES OPEN, heart fully closed and locked.
I’m in tears myself...
......from laughter.
VENGENCE IS MINE SAYETH THE LORD!
Rot in Hell with the rest of your dirty Communist F*** Buddies!
Amen.
I wish cancer and its terrors on no one.
Chavez must, like the rest of us, work to cede our own will, away from our thoughts of self importance and our opinion about “all the things we have left to do”, and trust our God and His will.
Speaking to self, here, btw. :(
D@mn, now I have to get out my hypocrisy shovel and irony hose to clean up this mess.
In the face of a mans death, a Christian never rejoices.
Genuine prayers that Mr Chavez repents and finds salvation.
It would be wise for him to make straight the paths that he made crooked during his period of ruling, while he still has the time. The “work that I(he) needs to do”, is to undo what he has done.
Again, may God grant him true repentance and a saving faith in Christ. Jesus came to seek the lost and the sinner. Who are we to act in any manner other than His example.
I rejoice that this man has apparently remembered his Savior.
this reminds me of the “obsolete man” episode of twilight zone, and hugo is fritz weaver.
Why cry? You'll be with Marx in hell and you two can be buddies
Let’s say he kicks the bucket before the fall election.
Any ideas what happens to Venezuela?
Who is next in chain of command, etc.?
Praying he is truly repentent.
An Anglican priest once said that we are going to be surprised at some of the people we see in heaven. I understand that humans cannot know what has transpired between a man and God in the years or seconds before death. On this Good Friday, I pray that all men will choose everlasting life in the presence of God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit.....even Hugo Chavez....even me.
“I still have things to do.”
things to do?
That is the best he can come up with?
Amen and in agreement!!
Sure, everyone remembers that line. How many people remember the line just before it?
"He's bread Jim."
