Romney and the church ['God shall damn them' - threatened Joseph Smith as he ran for POTUS]
Reno News Review ^ | March 22, 2012 | Dennis Myers

Two Nevadans are being heard from on the subject of Mitt Romney and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Salon carried an article by Boulder City native Sally Denton, author of bestsellers like The Blue Grass Conspiracy and The Money and the Power. The article is titled “Romney and the White Horse Prophecy.”

Denton’s article recalls the presidential campaign of Mormon Church founder Joseph Smith in 1844: “Challenging Democrat James Polk and Whig Henry Clay, Smith prophesied that if the U.S. Congress did not accede to his demands that ‘they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them.’ Smith viewed capturing the presidency as part of the mission of the church. He had predicted the emergence of ‘the one Mighty and Strong’—a leader who would ‘set in order the house of God’—and became the first of many prominent Mormon men to claim the mantle. … Romney is the product of this culture. At BYU, he was idolized by fellow students and referred to, only half jokingly, as the ‘One Mighty and Strong.’ He was the ‘alpha male’ in the rarefied Cougar pack, according to Michael D. Moody, a BYU classmate and fellow member of the group.”

Moody himself, now a Las Vegan who ran for Nevada governor in the 1982 Republican primary, has published a book, Mitt, Set Our People Free. A news release says the book “discusses the hypocrisies of Mormonism in an open letter to Mitt Romney in the book. … He delivers an insider’s look at politics, Mitt, and the Mormon Church, contending these hypocrisies relate directly to the manipulative mind of Joseph Smith and to practices like communalism and polygamy that he incorporated into his nineteenth century cult.”

Nevadans..tattling on their Utah neighbors...

Of course, Nevada's given us Harry Reid, the Mormon. And if we apply Mormon doctrine to Harry Reid, who serves as an official home teacher for the Mormon church: “As Harry Reid is now, God once was. As God is now, Harry Reid may become.”

[As way of explanation: Mormons essentially believe the following: "As man is now, God once was. As God is now, man may become." (Lds "prophet" Lorenzo Snow)]

So, just as the Demo'rats have Harry Reid as one of their lineup of gods, the GoP has one, too:

“As Mitt Romney is now, God once was. As God is now, Mitt Romney may become.”

NOW do you understand this religio-political blasphemy a bit better?

But...... We were told by all the LDS cacus and the “moderates” here on FR that Willard “mitt” Romney’s religion would never be in the press... so this article must be fake.

Sorry, but I just can’t see Romney as an alpha male. Must have been a pretty wussy group.

A true alpha male would take the fight directly to Obama. I don’t think he has the stones to do it. Gotta be polite as you are being whipped, ya know.

What is strange and illogical to me is that if a voter seeks to explore the truth about an organization which demands (and gets) a candidate's absolute loyalty (possibly even greater than loyalty to country), that voter is dismissed as bigoted.

(Yes, but you won't hear Mormons describe it that way...I mean that would be the day...talkin' with your Lds neighbor...and he says, "Yeah...old Joe was in jail. Had two loaded weapons. Fired off all the bullets in one of them.")

(Boy...just can't understand why prisoners shooting a loading weapon is shot to death.)

Wait, Bluegrass Conspiracy plus White Horse Prophecy = Romney is going to win the Kentucky Derby?

That seems unlikely.

Speaking of DAMNATION: I'd sure HATE to be an SLC mormon and have THIS future facing me!!!!

"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;

and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,

and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.

Wait, Smith ran for president, also?

God shall damn them

Like Barry's church where Wright exclaims 'God d*mn America'. Both with the same evil message from the two top runners. Can be agree some voters are attracted/drawn to evil.

Yes, in 1844. He is the first presidential candidate who was assassinated, although not for political reason.

WOW! That was a surprise to see that. Did he hold any political office or he was ‘entitled’ to shoot right to the top?

No political office other than Mayor. He was also a general of his own Mormon army. I can give you some sources if you want to read more.

This is not intended as a defense of mormonism, but don't all religions demand the ultimate loyalty? I don't know of a single religion that says it's okay to put loyalty to a human government ahead of its understanding of A-mighty G-d.

G-d comes first. Not family, not country, not civilization, not self, not anything else. Only G-d. Anything other than this is idolatry.
