We used to take communion at the Methodist church of my youth. Guess I’m just another “Jesus Eater”.
Not really, he’s a big government liberal. His “holier than thou” persona is a big whopper of an act. True believers don’t believe in robbing one person (through taxes), to pay for another (like Social Security, Medicare, etc., etc.).
Nor do they believe in removing the ability of people to govern themselves. Rick Santorum hates freedom, and think he can channel one one of the biggest statists of them all: Abe Lincoln.
Santorum is the only person running for President who falls below Romney, including Obama. If we’re going to be run through, I’d rather it be done quickly, and without the theocratic babble at the same time. I love Godly people in Government, I hate people trying to replace God WITH Government (especially when they pretend to do it in God’s name). “Never” to Santorum, “NEVER.”
who writes this crap?

The say that as if it's a bad thing. He's a lector ... a reader .... not a person on a payroll for anything suspicious. Good grief.
and each Wednesday parishioners take turns praying nonstop for 24 hours before a consecrated communion wafer, a demanding practice known as Eucharistic adoration.
Demanding?! What?
ONZ, anything but that! Next, they'll be telling us he owns a Comfy Chair!
Kind of a shame they didn’t go full metal Klan with the headline and use the word “cracker” - always amusing when people who claim to be Christians demean the Lord so.
Looks to me like the NYT is trying to reassure Cafeteria Catholics that there’s no reason for them to pay attention to or side with the Bishops by painting anyone who actually believes the Dogma and Doctrines of The Church as some sort of radical traditionalist. I especially like the “wafer” and “24 hours of prayer” stuff and expect the NYT to get back to their 1870s standard of slander directed towards the Catholic Church before long.
If Romney’s Mormonism means nothing to the lamestream media, then why should Santorum’s Catholicism mean anything to them?
Besides, it’s not a wafer, it’s the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
Guess the author of this piece never heard of Eucharistic miracles!
I’m a conservative catholic and I don’t think this article was that bad, actually pretty balanced which is rare for the NYT. The “demanding” nature of Eucharistic adoration is funny. I mean, you sit there, and really HAVE to do nothing. It’s perfectly valid to just sit and watch the Lord in the Blessed Eucharist.
Considering that 1 Thessalonians 5 tells us to ‘pray without ceasing’, what is the big deal?
