Parts of a 2008 speech by Rick Santorum have surfaced online, in which he says Satan is subverting great American institutions. Its appearance comes at a time in the campaign when Santorum's rivals are trying to make voters think twice about supporting him.
Does Rick Santorum have a Satan problem? Specifically, is it a political negative for him that the Drudge Report all day Tuesday has highlighted a story about a 2008 speech he gave at Ave Maria University in Florida in which he said America is under assault by Satan?
Satan is attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity, and sensuality as the root to attack all of the strong plants that [have] so deeply rooted in the American tradition, Mr. Santorum said in that 2008 speech.
Audio excerpts from the speech indicate that Santorum said Satan had successfully subverted academia first, followed by mainline Protestantism, which he said is in shambles, and then the culture. Politics came last.
The body politic held up pretty well until the last couple of decades, he said in the speech.

Amen!
Amen. I get the same thing in the “real world” as well. Almost everyone is embarrassed to talk about it.
I kinda made a “big stink” at work not too long ago. When the powerball reaches a high amount, we each put in money and play.
We have one lady in the office (who I call a witch). She’s into spells, chants and all that crap. One day she came into work, reached into her blouse and shoved her new pentagram necklace in my face.
Any who, one powerball play she mentioned she was going to do a chant so we would win. I refused to participate. My boss asked me why (we really just do it for fun) and I told him.
He called her in and told her no way in heck can she do any spells or chants or any such things when it comes to us as a group. Whatever she does on her time is her business...DON’T get the office involved.
She went ahead and told a few people she was upset that I wasn’t playing because of her “devil crap” and what our boss told her. She told me I could play because she wasn’t going to do any of her evil stuff and I told her “no, I’m not playing because I don’t believe you”.
My boss and I never discussed God, the Bible, evil, any such thing before this...although I’ve tried. He is so much more open to discussing it now.
He even tells me he prays and that we MUST keep praying for what is best!! THAT’S a new thing!!
So the MSM attack machine ground up Palin and spit [sic] her out. Their spittin’ distance must be pretty short considering the influence she wielded in ‘06 and what she will wield this year. Heck, why bother with HBO movies if she’s no longer a threat?
LOL - not!
Most truthful statement on earth.
Christians, that is members of Christian churches that still adhere to what’s written in the Bible, know they have no quarrel with Santorum. It’s the ChrINOs who have trouble—those who believe in abortion, in gay marriage, sexual promiscuity at any level, married or openly gay “priests,” and SOCIAL JUSTICE as determined and administered by the state.
You think Newt would answer any differently? Only at his peril—politically and otherwise.
I would guess he was referring to Mr. Rogers the childrens TV show host.
Tar and feathers are what is used after you’ve lost an election.
I’m proposing winning the election and making the necessary, sweeping changes, once inside.
At the time BG was a decent man, at least what we knew of him.
But LBJ only continued what the RINOs started. Even after he got the nomination, he received less support from the GOP than any other nominee before or since. Nixon was the very rare exception (Reagan hadn’t yet held office), and Nixon won the following election.
And what did she do to deserve that? Nothing. The MSM took her out with wave after wave of hate-filled, mocking attacks.
I think the CSM protesteth too much. Wonder why.
It seems every abortionist, secularist and leftist out there is trying to make an issue of this speech from 2008. I listed to the whole thing, and it is an excellent speech!

“Rick stated just four years ago that mainline Protestants have been subverted by Satan.”
Wow... he really said that? And to an audience of people whose churches are full of graven images, pray to Mary, chant vain repetitions while fondling plastic beads, light candles and pray for souls of already-dead people... hmmm. I would’ve supported Santorum, but he may have crossed a line here.
He is partially right; Satan is infiltrating and subverting Protestant denominations — as well as every other denomination and every facet of life. It’s what Satan does.
He was not a Navy Seal, but thanks for playing.

Many Christian denominations either give short mention of Satan or pretend he does not exist. What I heard from Santorum is absolutely true. Every Bible-believing Christian knows that Satan exists. If he exists, he exists to defeat good and prevent the good from acting in godly ways. Therefore, it only makes sense that Satan would focus his efforts on those institutions that reach the most people and do the most good.
There was a time when most American universities existed for the deeper study of the world around us in the context of our spiritual faiths. Today, much of that faith has been scrubbed from academia so much so that professions of faith can be enough to deny you tenure.
Santorum is absolutely correct that this is the work of Satan who wants, as much as anything, to convince you that believe in God is wrong and we should not live our lives according to God’s desires. Is that not what most of our public schooling today is doing?
The whole world has had a “Satan problem” since Eden.
There is also a “Jesus solution”...
Santorum may well have lost the devil-worshipper demographic. How are we supposed to win an election without them?
