Didn’t Christ say something like if you pray, don’t do it in public with alot of fanfare.

Pray in a closet.

Jesus said not to do this with the sole motive of being seen by others to impress them with how pious you are. Several verses earlier Jesus said we are to be the salt and the light and one doesn't hide a light under a basket.

You can pray all the time. Always be thankful, even in public just don’t do it for show. The example given was the Pharisee saying publicly “I’m glad I’m not like him” referring to a sinner. The sinner, on the other hand, did not even raise his head for the weight of his sin was upon him and he was truly sorrowful. The sinner went down justified. If Mr. Tebow does his intimate sorrowful prayer in private, the public thanks to God is a good example for others. Do you pray in public? Give thanks at mealtime in a restaurant? God sees our deeds and knows our motives. Please don’t judge Mr. Tebow.
