Gay Episcopal Bishop to Preach at San Francisco Catholic Parish
Catholic Culture ^ | 11/22/11

Posted on 11/23/2011 11:11:08 AM PST by marshmallow

A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.

Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.

“Israel is of the flesh”

you can’t be more wrong.

read Romans 2:29 to see who the real Jew is ( flesh has nothing to do with it )

LOL Do you not understand what “grafted in” means? When a branch is grafted onto a tree it does not replace the tree. The original tree is still as it was.

And now here you are going off into ‘other’ scriptures....and taking my post and twisting it to satisfy your need to prove me wrong in what I stated...you cannot.....the discussion is on John chapter One.....I said in a nut shell that with all that John was testifying to about Christ In John I ..and all those present and a part of his magnificent account...there is not a single mention of Mary there...and there's not. Not a word.

The point being made, had you been paying attention, is....wouldn't you think that if God intended Mary to have the co-equality with Christ that the catholic church preaches then you'd also expect of course she'd be at the very least mentioned or included throughout the scriptures as Jesus is...she's not....

...and or that during some of the most momentous moments for the apostles...she would be mentioned....she's not...in fact very little of the scriptures reference Mary....she has her roll...and her place...catholics take her way out there where God has never intended you should have her...by doing so you dethrone Christ by your practices and worship of her...and frankly she would be appalled.

Now you can popcorn all the scripture accounts you want to justify to yourself your belief that Mary is coequal with Christ...and in some cases even superior to.....but as I also mentioned prior...that is where catholics hang themselves....

....anyone can pull scriptures to justify any belief they want...(otherwise cults would not be successful at bait and switch using the scriptures)....but the written word has a rhythm and rhyme throughout so when you popcorn it you've “taken away” from what is written when you do so to support a false teaching....and the worship and adoration of Mary is just that..a false teaching and an affront to God.

But to comment on the passages you gave....and the most we hear from Mary , for this was her time before God the Father....Take note that she lifted Gods name up not her own....She addresses God as HER SAVIOR, just so you recognize she acknowledges her need of one...so the catholic teaching she's sinless is baloney... It's all about Him.....with a humble mention of what he has done for her. That's pretty much the it of it.

In Israel, there is neither Jew nor Greek ( Galatians 3:23-29 )

faith grafts the Gentile in, unbelief “ungrafts” the physical Jew.

only those in Christ will be saved = all Israel shall be saved.

what to show me where the Church teaches Mary is equal to Jesus Christ?

one is a created being, the other is God Almighty.

So you have a need then to distinguish authority over yourself?.... Well the word of God clearly teaches that Christ is the head of the body of believers..so we’re accountable to Him......and the bible is clear the scriptures are the ultimate authority. That’s pretty simple to understand...and that’s also why we learn what it has to say to us...and that’s as personal as it is collective for the body of believers.

The AUTHORITY IS THE CHURCH.

READ MATTHEW 28.

JESUS GAVE HIS AUTHORITY TO THE CHURCH TO TEACH AND BAPTIZE.

THE CHURCH, BY IT’S AUTHORITY DETERMINED THE CANON OF SCRIPTURE.

NO ONE IS TOLD TO READ THE SCRIPTURES AND DETERMINE DOCTRINE BASED ON WHAT THEY READ.

ACTS 8 TELLS US HOW CAN WE UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURES UNLESS SOMEONE EXPLAINS IT TO US?

I’m guessing ahead here, but I’m betting before long we end up somewhere near:

Because “co” is from the Latin word “cum” which means “with” but in protestant speak, i.e. modern english type speak, it means ‘equal to’

at least Catholics know the creeds and what the words refer to.

the question is...do you know Christ? not just about Him but on a up close and personal level. Beause if you have that why dilly dally before idols and conform to rituals He never established for us?

.... And furter has He given you 'assurance' of the salvation He's given you ...that you will surely be with Him when the time comes to go home with Him. Because He said we can KNOW that with certainty.

what matters is whether you are “in Christ” or not.

in Christ = salvation
outside of Christ = no salvation

bonus question for caww -

must i accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior or is just believing Jesus Christ is the Son of God enough to be saved?

They think we are having a seance when we ask the saints to pray for us.

Well I hadn't thought of that...but I do know many cults pray to the departed..and New agers think they're flying thru the heavens with entities from the heavenlies.

Further there are no guarantess or assurances that those who you are speaking with or too are not from the dark side who are known to present themselves as departed Saints...when in reality they are not.

So it IS a dangerous practice to call on any other than Christ...and that's why he told us HE is the mediater between God and man..and He alone.

When you have worked with those who have been tricked and fooled to believe it's OK to pray to others besides Christ....you would understand the warning and why Christ gave it.

the question is...do you know Christ?

For those paying attention, that is what my posts have been all about. The Christian Faith of who Christ truly is. This is how we can teach about the Faith. It is one way, the other is praxis, which is a whole 'nuther subject. We can discuss this in theological terms to confirm whether or not our basic beliefs are the same or not. This is the primary way Christianity has been preserved long enough for new folks to have the same Faith as the Apostles and their successors.

on a up close and personal level.

You know I can have no possible idea of what images, concepts or notions are in your head except as you are able to describe them. However, in this discussion I think is not only off topic but more than a tad presumptuous.

Explaining to you is pointless because you will not listen. The saints are in heaven.

If I went for the interpretation that gave me the most assurance, I'd pick Universal Unitarianism; but then I wouldn't feel as special, so maybe yours is better.

I should tell you that when I hear OSAS expressed as you do, I think: "Oh look, he has God in a box in his pocket."

Personally, I think looking at Love in terms of what's in it for me is really a bad idea. As others have said: It's like marrying for money. I try really hard to not even go there. So this will be it for me on the topic, I sincerely hope.

Why must you always resort to condesending remarks and statements D-Fender.....does it make you feel significant or something more that you have the need for that?

I realiz this is also taught within the catholic church..and the tactics of, but some catholics here I have thought higher of than that...you have slipped into that mode so I’m going to withdraw from further conversation.

Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise you,
we bless you,
we adore you,
we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King,
O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,
you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world,
receive our prayer.
you are seated at the right hand of the Father,
have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father.
Amen

this is the Gloria, prayed by Catholics at every Mass.

READ IT AND EDUCATE YOURSELF.

LET ME CALL TO YOUR ATTENTION:

for YOU ALONE are the Holy One
YOU ALONE are the Lord
YOU ALONE are the Most High, Jesus Christ.

GOT IT????

Catholics do not now and have not EVER taught Mary is equal to Jesus Christ.

We await your apology for this “untruth”

cue the crickets..............
