That’s fantastic,

Do you do these conversions often? Where at, in Utah?

Maybe I can come along too, I would like to observe. I might learn something.

They aren’t very good liars though, they can’t look you in the face and say it..

- - —
Hogwash! They are great liars. If you are talking about the young missionaries the ones that don’t look you in the face are the new ones. The older ones have mroe practice.

I was taught to lie (no joke) while training for my LDS mission. LOL, look away with a tear??? Yea we were taught that too, it was a way to get invited back - look interested and ‘seeking’. eyeroll.

I usually have the missionaries over for dinner - 2 hour captive audience and the poor boys need feeding. I never let them pray though, we do all the prayers as I will not agree in prayer with a non-believer.

They have said much more about lds but not fit for mixed company, lets just say: two decided they are homosexual, one decided they were a witch, one an atheist and one took their own life - all as a result of lds and what they went through. My aunt and uncle dutifully fulfill what is a required alienated from their children, once the kids left mormonISM they were shunned by their own parents. Not a very happy place.

Yes, I have heard they keep a file on us in Utah and write down everything we say...

They are really good salesmen.

I notice after I talk to them, they don’t come around for 2-3 years, they must put me on a bad list.

lol

I made one these guys tear up, I just speak to the love of God, I don’t have to know their stuff, just knowing that this.

I had them pinned down and asked them to pray to God to shine truth into their soul and let the holy spirit take and hold them....their leader was shaking like I was casting a spell over them.

I didn’t attack them, I just asked them to pray with me. Very devastating for at least one of them.

That might be true, but even the supervisor of those guys couldn’t lie to save his life.

You have got to be kidding. I mean really. That really is humorous. Again I will not speak for yourself but not one single time while training for my mission did I ever even hear of anything like that.

Look away with a tear to be invited back? Yeah right!

“I dont need any of your unsaved friends”

Now, is this a personal attack? Probably not, I must be dreaming.

Dila you really don’t know much about mormon doctrine do you?

Polygamy is a key doctrine, whether they practice it in this life or not. They still practice spiritual polygamy, men (no women) can be married for eternity more than once in Mormon temples even in cases of divorce and they are promised that ALL their wives will be theirs to have celestial sex with in the afterlife.

Many also believe (and the leaders have taught) that when Christ returns polygamy will be re-instituted. And if polygamy is legalized - like SS ‘marriage’ is, they WILL have a ‘revelation’ bringing it back for this life like the FLDS.

I know absolutely nothing about Mormonism other than it is a false cult of made up books someone dreamed up. Only know about that because it is such a colorful story.

I really don’t have interest in knowing about Mormonism.

Why do you think I need to know the particulars of sacrilegious practices in order to condemn it?

It is good enough for me to know it doesn’t come from God.

So the reality is that the flds are living the true mormon faith. The SLC lds are the off shoot.

The statement refers to your friends not you. For something to be "making it personal" it must be speaking of another Freeper personally.

"Jim Jones is crazy" is not making it personal. "You are crazy" is making it personal.

The basic forms of "making it personal" are mind reading, attributing motives and making the thread "about" an individual Freeper.

The guideline on the Religion Forum is: Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

"Personal attacks" are not allowed anywhere on Free Republic. They are much worse than "making it personal" and include such things as insults and threats. "You're a slack jawed drunk" is a "personal attack."

Just understand, these concepts are core beliefs of my faith, it has nothing to do with the topic.

These core beliefs and principles can be applied to any type of sin.

For instance, the kid that stole out of the offering tray, we know he did it, but we don’t accuse him.

We can talk to him and he will just break down and confess. He can’t help himself.

The Sisters were the absolute pros at this.

After which, the sisters would crack you on the butt and have them go to the priest to get penance assigned but after all that, they would hug us and profess their love for us.

The Sisters never flashed hate on their face, no it was more pain at the need to discipline us.

She attacked Baptists and others. She isn’t a one trick hater.

Why does to disagree = attack, hostility & hate to you? Did you grow up in a conflicted home where that was the case?

Can't somebody disagree with somebody else without you pulling out your Magic 8 ball and judging inner motives upon someone? (Posts #65 & this one, #312)

I'm struggling over the question: "What if we have a great conservative politician who is a Mormon?"

A real conservative, say suppose if, hypothetically, Palin was Mormon. What is the right option?

I've thought a bit about it but have no answers. It's so much easier that we have just the RINO loon Romney who we can reject without talking about his religion, but what if we get that ideal tea-party candidate who is Mormon? What are your thoughts?

Before anyone flames me, I want to acknowledge that “fluff” is not the word to use to describe the common focus of Christianity, that is, Christ as a personal savior. You don’t need to defend that.
