In response to whether the public should vote for a Mormon for president, one should know what beliefs a candidate had.
Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman have Mormon roots and they have been vague about their beliefs and loyalty to the LDS church.
Mormon theology includes ideas like their priesthood brethren will become the government leaders, or future kings of the world, in a globalized theocracy, and that their male leaders will take over when a second coming of Christ occurs. They believe they are the pre-ordained leaders to rule over a coming theocratic kingdom.
Worthy Mormon males are temple attending, dressing in white with special learned handshakes, altar rituals, Masonic rites and gestures and do secretive activities different from normal society.
They believe they are the future gods of new worlds in a life after this one. They follow prophets with ever-changing doctrine and change their fictional "Book of Mormon" every time it is found to be un-politically correct.
Their women are taught they are good for breeding, to have large families.
A member of this cult is loyal to its church leaders and to whatever their modern prophets tell them is gospel, which changes at their will.
They claim to be Christian, but Mormon polytheism of many gods/goddesses in a hereafter, rituals that must be performed in their temples, garment wearing and works (not grace) that saves a person is different ideology.
It is debatable whether Mormons are Christians, and they have other scriptures special to Mormonism written by their leaders, not just the New Testament, like their Doctrine and Covenants and Book of Mormon.
To learn about them and their practices, beliefs and personal character will help us determine whether they are the future leaders of Americans. Or are they really stuck in their controversial past?
those professors were ALL corrupt;
_______________________________________
I’m a professor of the belief that the LORD Jesus Christ is God, God come in the flesh, Salvation, the Word of God, the Lamb of God, the Lion of Judah, the ONLY Begotten Son of the Father, the Second Person of the Trinity, the only Way to God the Father, through whom all things were created because He was there at In the beginning (Gen 1:1) Let US make man in OUR own image...
That God the Father had no father...”There is no god before me”...
That the Holy Ghost is the Third Person of the Trinity and just as much God as God the Father and Jesus, that He tabernacles, dwells in us, is our Comforter and Guide, and reveals to us the things we need to know of God,..also there In the beginning...
That Mary was a virgin who had never had sex with man or mormon god when she conceived a baby who was to be named Jesus (Salvation) by the Holy Ghost...
That Jesus grew up and became a carpenter and started his Earthly ministry at age 30 after He was baptized by his cousin John the Baptised, and anointed by the Holy Ghost...
That He chose 12 ordinary uneducated Jewish men to be his disciples, fishermen, tax collectors, farmers etc...
That he was never married nor had children but went around doing good ...teaching, preaching, healing the sick, casting out devils, for 3 1/2 years...
When they Sanhedrin anbd the Pharasees wanted to know where He got His authority to speak so boldly, He told them He was around before Abraham...
During Passover on in the fourth year He soloemized the anniversary of the angel of death passing over the Jewish houses in Goshen that had the blood of a lamb on the doorposts and lentels with His 12 disciples...after they all had eaten He served the first communion to them to show them how they were to do it later...He took the middle loaf of 3 unleaven loafs of bread (Isaac) and broke it in peices and gave the peices to them and said “This is my Body. Eat it in Rememberance of Me” Then He took the cup of Wine and gave it to them to drink and said “This is my BLOOD Drink this in rememberance of Me”...The Blood of the Lamb of God...
Later they all went to the Garden of Gethsemanee where Jesus struggled to overcome the temptation to call it quits...as a man He now knew what He would physically suffer and He was prepared to go through with that part... but as God who had dwelled with God the Father in Heaven forever in the past He knew what agony He would suffer being cut of from God the Father when He took the sins of the world upon Himself and God the Father could no longer look at Him and He could no longer communicate with the Father...all He could do was trust that He would get back to God after the time of being lost in sin...
He was arrested and did not resist although He could have called 10,000 angels to rescue Him ...”Nobody takes my life from Me. I lay it down for my friends” He was never a victim...Peter and the others began to fight off the soldiers but Jesus told them to let the soldiers arrest Him...
He never spoke in His own defense at His trial...He didnt have too...He had dont no wrong...Even Pilate was impressed and declared he could find no crime that Jesus had committed...He told them to whip Jesus washed his hands of the case...
Jesus was beaten the 39 times that was required by Roman law for our benefit...stones and peices of bone on the ends of the cat tails tore chucks of flesh from His body and laid his bones bare...he was so wounded He could hardly walk let alone carry a big Cross...Simon was ordered to drag it for Him... By His stripes are you healed (Isaiah 53:5)
Then they placed a crown of thorns on His head and a robe on His bruised and bleeding back spat on Him and mocked Him...
They made Him walk to Calvary, His enemies cheering openly and His friends and disciples weeping secretly...some brave souls like His mother Mary walking close and reaching out to touch Him tenderly as He went by...
They took Him to the city dump, Calvary also called Golgotha, the place of the skull...They nailed Him at His wrists and at His crossed feet to a Cross, a tree like a thief..
Jesus uttered several things from the Cross... among them “Father do not forsake Me” because He had taken on by them all the sins of the world back to the sins in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve had caused all the evil to commence and had gotten themselves thrown out of Eden..Now those sins were placed on Jesus and God the Father had been forced to desert Him...His heart was broken..Lastly He cried out “Father into your hands I commend my spirit” How triumphant how releived he must have felt at that moment before He died...He was going to be reunited with the Father...
Then He died...at that very moment throughout Jerusalem the butchers were slaughtering the Passover Lambs
Jesus went down into Hell and walked up to Lucifer/Satan wh had been a created beinbg an angel of music and had rebelled against God enticing 1/3 of the angels to follow Him...Jesus as the Word had picked Lucifer up by the leg and tossed him out of Heaven and his 1/3 of the ange3ls had fled before the Word (as they still do now) Lucifer became Satan the devil and all thoise angels became demons...However theres still twice as many angels left in Heaven...
Jesus commanded SDatan to give Him the keys to Hell, death and the grave and he quickly handed them over “Yes Jesus whatever you say” Lucifer and the Word had played marbles in heaven for a few eons and Satan knew just WHO Jesus was ...his boss, his creator, the master, the LORD God...
Jesus arose from death on the 3rd day and the first person to see Him was Mary Magdalaine to who Jesus said “Go and tell” making her the very first Christian witness, preacher and missionary ...
Now Charles do you really believe that as a professor of Christianity, my beliefs make me corrupt ???
Because the Mormons sure do...
They believe those visions that Joey Smith had...
I’d vote for a Mormon who was a solid conservative. Hell I’d vote for a Satanist if I thought he would uphold the Constitution,
- - - - - -
I wouldn’t. I know too much about Mormonism (see tagline) to ever trust one in office.
And I would never vote for someone who didn’t share my worldview at least on the basics (both Mormons and Satanists).
This country cannot be turned around by non-Christians even if they call themselves conservatives.
also, did you ever stop to think that Romney’s flip-flopiness and other liberal policies in office are a direct result of his Mormonism? Because they are.
Why do Mormons deny they are LDS at times? They think it makes them look more credible.
And have already told you that there were too many posts to put down.
Again, I’m not lying and don’t need or want your apology for something I did not do. Quit calling me a liar because I did not lie.
Now, quit harping on this and answer the questions related to this thread, or go back on the Anthony threads and ping me and we can debate the subject there.
Oh, BTW, typical of Morgbot defenders, you chase us down false rabbit trails in order to change the subject.
Ahh, careful he will call you a liar then ask for proof. And when you provide it, he will still call you a liar.
In the political arena, the Mormons were instrumental in defeating Gay marriage in California.
- - - - -
You know we keep getting told that and the MSM kept reporting it, but I was on the front lines of the fight and there was not a SINGLE Mormon that worked with us (in a high gay population and quite a few LDS as well - 2 stake and at least 8 congregations in the immediate area.).
It was the independent Evangelical churches, the Hispanics, the Catholics, and the Pentecostals who were instrumental in working on Prop 8. The liberal protestants tended to stay out of the fight, but I know of at least 2 Episcopalians, a Methodist and a Presbyterian that I worked with.
And Romney didn’t have a conservative platform. He isn’t a conservative.
It is also incorrect to state that we conservatives will lose by alienating the LDS vote, they aren’t THAT big of a block.
And this site has a RF for a reason. Most Christian conservatives do not throw their faith out the window for politics, if they did they wouldn’t be Christians OR Conservatives.
Sharon Angle understood that, and sought to distance herself from the religious comments of her ex-pastor.
- - - - -
If that was her motivation, then I have no respect for her.
No one should throw their faith under the bus for political gain. If they do, then their faith should be seriously questioned.
Its the Anthon transcript I read about a while back. People have shown it contains nothing but various letters from a modern alphabet and some mathematical and typesetting notations.

A+ for the day, Sky!
Just as we would never reject a democrat voting for a conservative, I won't reject the Mormon vote just because they don't have the right religious beliefs.
I realize that this is part of the big debate here and elsewhere. I'm not talking about the religion of the candidates here, I'm talking about how to treat people you are trying to get to vote for your.
Rather than me characterize what Angle did, I'll give you a link to a story: Angle Disavows Former Pastor's claim:
Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle on Monday disavowed a claim by her former pastor that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a cult.
...
She said she would not take back comments she made recently that suggested she believes that Dearborn, Mich., operates under Islamic, or Sharia, law.
Which goes back to my theory that Mormons will vote for a non-conservative Mormon over a conservative who speaks the truth.
There is only one TRUE faith, Christianity. Denomination doesn’t matter. I would vote for a Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Evangelical, etc candidate. Mormons are not Christians, and they are infact a pseudo-Christian cult. My words don’t make that true, their teachings do.
Speaking the truth doesn’t reject Mormon votes, and Mormon votes don’t make or break elections (except in Utah and parts of other states like ID, CO, UT, and AZ). They aren’t that big of a voting block elsewhere.
Angle is misinformed and throwing her pastor under the bus to get votes makes me have no respect for her.
I would never expect to get a single Mormon vote, even if I never said word against them, but simply they would never vote for me because I am an Ex-Mormon, it would be because of THEIR prejudice not anything I said. Of course, where I live it wouldn’t matter in the least because there are less than 100 active LDS in my area.
No, I know the article is in the religion forum; but the particular thread of conversation I’m following is about the political ramifications of faith, not about the religious ramifications. We were discussing whether a political candidate should attack the religious beliefs of people who had conservative political opinions and would be expected to vote for them, simply because the candidate disagreed with the religious beliefs of the voters.
My opinion is that in the political arena, we should not reject the help of those who hold a similer philosophy to ours, even if they have different religious beliefs. When someone shows up at a pro-life demonstration, I don’t ask them if they are Jewish, or Catholic, or Mormon, or agnostic.
And when I was in a local republican committee, I didn’t pick religious fights with people at the meetings. I find that attacking someone’s religious beliefs in a non-religious setting is not conducive to achieving political results.
If a freeper wants to post an attack on the tenets of the Presbyterian belief system, and I happen to see it, I’ll be happy to respond. I’ve participated in multiple threads here about reformed doctrine, the belief in predestination, and other aspects of the reformed faith.
I see no need to respond to an attack by non-Mormons using Mormon writings. I don’t really care what some Mormon wrote about Presbtyerians.
The sad thing is how many Mormon threads there were for me to appear in.
(Yeah, we noticed...and noticed...and noticed...and noticed...and noticed...and...)
I almost get the feeling that if I said...
...your Presbyterianism is wrong...
...your Presbyterian leaders are "corrupt" -- all of them...
...your Presbyterian creeds are putrid -- all of them...
...all you Presbyterians are apostates...
...and then I added, "Oh, by the way, that's not Colofornian talkin'...that's Revelation 23 and I'm quoting a more recent statement 'God' made..."
...I somehow feel that you'd respond at least to that.
But when a Mormon did the EXACT same thing...and their "Revelation 23" is in their "scripture" Pearl of Great Price...it all gets a pass from you.
With you, Charles, it figures.
. . .and used as a self-justification of incivility. What what can expect as a possibility at FR, and what one should hope for at FR (or anywhere else in civilized discourse), are two different things.
Then quit complaining about the opinions of others, Charles. Your lectures grow very tiresome, and have been so for several years.
Try starting your own thread if you see your opinion as so very important. Expound fully on your "Kumbaya" policies for those who just want to "get along".
This Kumbaya stuff is the reason the country is in the shape it's in now.
In the political arena, the Mormons were instrumental in helping Obama by doing busy work in california
The Baqptists had been working on Prop 8 fort a long time withourt ther “help” interst or interference form tyhe Mormons
In may when Willie Mitty dropped out, the Mortmons no longer had any interest in the GOP side of the 2008 POTUS election since they no longer had a horse white or otherwise running...
So since the Mormons would not help the infidel/Gentile/apostate McCain get elected, they looked around for somethging they could be doing that might look like they were busy supporting the GOP and might be construed as Conservative and GOPish in case anybody with any sense actually asked...
AHHHHHHH the apoistate Baptists have a project in CA fighting against the homosexuals thgat we coulde do and do better of course just because we are worthy temple Mormons and they are just ignorant Christians..
Lets go to CA abnd take over errrrr “help”
and so the Mormons not only sat out the 2008 election, they finagled the idea that they and they alone were responsible for Prop 8...
The homosexual community did not respond to the Mormons because they were the authors of Prop 8 and “righteous”
The homosexuals went after the Mormons and left the Baptists alone because of the Mormons own history of deviant sex and the Mormons blantant hypocracy..
The Baptists dont have a history of adultery and underage pedophilia for advancement and laedership and “atonement” in the highest Mormon afterlife shelves...
Only the Mormons have polygamy as their main religious and necessary doctrineg...
The Baptists adhere to the 10 Commandments and the Christian Bible which states polygamy/adultery is SIN...
and now Charles you know the rest of the story...
Words like "false" "wrong" "error" do not attribute motive.
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
Blue Moose, the guideline concerning not bringing arguments from one thread to another applies to the Religion Forum. The links were to News, Chat, etc.
This is an "open" thread in the Religion Forum meaning posters may argue for or against dieties, beliefs, authorities, etc. It is the only thread type on the RF where posters may argue strongly against beliefs, etc.
If that town square style of debate is offensive to you, then IGNORE the open RF threads altogether and instead post to threads labeled "caucus" "ecumenical" "prayer" or "devotional."
Finally, do NOT make this thread about individual Freepers. That is also a for of "making it personal." Discuss the message, not the messenger.
Now we're talking. Even though I quit drinking alcohol (by personal choice, not religious convictions), I still get cravings for beer which I try to satisfy with Labatt's NA. Hard to find around here so if on our annual vacation to the Pacific NW, I usually schedule a trip to BC so I can pick up a few cases of it. You should have seen the look on the crossing guard's face after he ask me if we were bringing in any alcohol and I told him I had 5 cases of Labatt's NA in the canopy of my truck. He said 'you must really like the stuff' and waved me through.
