Know Mormons' beliefs before voting for them
WyomingTribuneEagle ^ | July 9, 2011 | Dion Clark

In response to whether the public should vote for a Mormon for president, one should know what beliefs a candidate had.

Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman have Mormon roots and they have been vague about their beliefs and loyalty to the LDS church.

Mormon theology includes ideas like their priesthood brethren will become the government leaders, or future kings of the world, in a globalized theocracy, and that their male leaders will take over when a second coming of Christ occurs. They believe they are the pre-ordained leaders to rule over a coming theocratic kingdom.

Worthy Mormon males are temple attending, dressing in white with special learned handshakes, altar rituals, Masonic rites and gestures and do secretive activities different from normal society.

They believe they are the future gods of new worlds in a life after this one. They follow prophets with ever-changing doctrine and change their fictional "Book of Mormon" every time it is found to be un-politically correct.

Their women are taught they are good for breeding, to have large families.

A member of this cult is loyal to its church leaders and to whatever their modern prophets tell them is gospel, which changes at their will.

They claim to be Christian, but Mormon polytheism of many gods/goddesses in a hereafter, rituals that must be performed in their temples, garment wearing and works (not grace) that saves a person is different ideology.

It is debatable whether Mormons are Christians, and they have other scriptures special to Mormonism written by their leaders, not just the New Testament, like their Doctrine and Covenants and Book of Mormon.

To learn about them and their practices, beliefs and personal character will help us determine whether they are the future leaders of Americans. Or are they really stuck in their controversial past?

Where did I attack you? Where have I denied your freedom of speech and thought? All I did was restate what the OWNER of this site has already said, if you support Romeny you are not welcome here.

I didn’t call YOU a pimp, I said you were pimping Romney. Behavior not personal attack.

AFA, Romney and Obama not being the same, you have to be kidding. Look at their records, Romeny IS Obama, just paler.

Romney Obama
Pro-abortion? Yep Yep
Gun control? Yep Yep
Gay Marriage? Yep Yep
Higher taxes? Yep Yep
bigger Government? Yep Yep
Socialism? Yep Yep

And that isn’t including the religion factor (which someone suggested if we consider it for Romney we must also consider it for Obama...

Christian? Nope Nope
Feelings over facts? Yep Yep
Belonged to a racist church? Yep and Yep

If you can’t see the obvious, there really is little hope for this country.

They have taken it upon themselves to REDEFINE a LOT of religious terms so that you can barely communicate with them.

MORMONs are geologically challenged.

Most of us normal folks know them as geodes.

Oh knock it off. I made no mistake, I backed up my claim with links to the threads. There were so many posts where you supported casey and the jury that it would be spam to post them all here (not to mention off topic).

Quit calling me a liar. I have done nothing that merits forgiveness from you or anyone else. You are the one that has been bearing false witness against me. If you are a Christian you are violating one of the 10 commandments.

It is also trouble-making or stalking to follow a poster around from thread to thread waving the same post at him.

Something that a Catholic should ponder when enabling Mormonism and fighting for it to have an unchallenged voice in the town square, if they are still Catholic.

Note that my score in reading comprehension was 97%tile.

If I knew there was going to be a test; I would have studied harder!

So again, how do you know I am a cradle Catholic?

- - - - -
Because converts would be more familiar with their churches teaching and views and more likely to follow them.

One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how lazy many people who are born into a church (any church) are about learning their faith and following it.

There are exceptions, of course, but converts tend to be much more zealous.

Opposing Romney because he's a Mormon is ridiculous....when there are so many better reasons to oppose him. Like Romneycare, Globalwarmingism, abortion flipflops, homofriendliness, and a zillion other RINO tendencies.

I'd vote for a Mormon who was a solid conservative. Hell I'd vote for a Satanist if I thought he would uphold the Constitution, keep his hands off my wallet, repeal Obamacare, dismantle the EPA, drill for oil and keep the military strong.

I agree many here don't have reading comprehension.

That would include me at times.

I go TOO fast and miss stuff or my eyes puts letters together wrong. (Wait! I'm sounding like Resty! ;^)

But it's my FINGERs that I have the MOST trouble with; as they CANNOT keep up with what I'm thinking at all!

Simple question you are afraid to answer.

We could say the same about you. All we have gotten from you is name calling and obfuscation.

One wonders why.....

All I asked for was something - anything - to support your assertion thst I defended Casey Anthony.

You posted links to threads to which I posted - but this did not support your baseless assertion.

So again, I accept your apology for lying and wish you the best. I truly forgive you.

And if they are Israel how come they don't speak Hebrew, or Yiddish for that fact.

The "Caractors" are the only tangible evidence in existence related to Smith's story. No gold plates, no brass plates, no peep stones, no Urim and Thummim... only these "Caractors," not a single one of which is in the purported languages.

Smith's translation of the Caractors. According to Martin Harris (Joseph Smith - History, 1:64), "I went to the city of New York, and presented the characters which had been translated, with the translation thereof, to Professor Charles Anthon, a gentleman celebrated for his literary attainments. Professor Anthon stated that the translation was correct, more so than any he had before seen translated from the Egyptian. I then showed him those which were not yet translated,* and he said they were Egyptian, Chaldaic, Assyriac, and Arabic; and he said they were true characters."

Speak right up now in all truthfulness. Isn't it revealing how Smith started out making a stab at creating believable "caractors" but quckly gave up and produced nothing but squiggles, ending up wih a series of nothing more than crude little scribbles? Yet Professor Anthon supposedly translated them!

*Harris must have had two or three pieces of paper with him—one with characters and a translation of them (on the same paper or a separate one) and one with untranslated characters—quite likely the "Caractors." Some Mormon "scholars" have gone out on a limb, sawed it off, and knocked themselves out trying to translate from these true Egyptian, Chaldaic, Assyriac, and Arabic characters a segment that would correspond with a verse from 1 Nephi.

Modern-day experts in Egyptian, Chaldaic, Assyriac, and Arabic. In 1829, any knowledge of these languages possessed by U.S. scholars would have been rudimentary at best. Expertise in them has vastly improved since then. So go ahead, do it. Get any modern expert in these languages to identify which of these "Caractors" are Egyptian, Chaldaic, Assyriac and Arabic. Better still, accept the claim of Mormon apologists that Anthon did indeed so testify and that his appraisal of the Caractors was correct. (Op. cit, pp. 73-75)

Save your money! Samples of Assyriac/Aramaic and Arabic writing:

What say you? Which of Smith's "Caractors" resemble the Assyriac and Arabic ones? No need to pay experts for their analysis. A child could accurately check this out. These writing systems have remained constant for well over 3000 years.
