The prelate's point was further developed when Cardinal Marc Ouellet, archbishop of Quebec, took the floor to affirm that the Word is much more than the Bible. He clarified that Christianity is not a religion of the Book.

He needed to clarify that CATHOLICISM is not a religion of The Book ... it is a religion of mysticism and man made tradition..

"As we begin the work of this synodal assembly, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, let us turn our gaze to Christ, the light of the world and our only teacher," Cardinal Levada encouraged.

I wonder what Christ he wanted them to turn their eyes to?

*It's a mystery*, *We just have to accept it by faith*, *Well, the meaning is just so philosophical and esoteric that it's too subtle to be really explained (to you ignorant, unread morons) adequately for the average person. Only the specially educated clergy has the adequate brainwashing education to understand deep mysteries like this so you just have to take their word for it, even if it contradicts someone else's word for it.*, or some such excuse.

And yet these same people deny Sola Fide ..amazing is it not?

And where does HE say that? God speaks through human messengers, and that did not change when he appeared to men directly.

>> “It’s never been a big priority to me.” <<

.
But is it a priority to God that we ignore his commanded times, and invent phoney celebrations of our own?

Who are we trying to please?

Is there any evidence of the Disciples/Apostles skipping Passover and having a shebang three days later?

Martin Luther put off the garb of a monk and put on that of a college professor, a professor of Holy Scripture. No why do you think he did that? But while we are speaking of the Eucharist, its was over this most holy event that the Reformers divided. So we have a clash between Luther and Zwingli at Marburg. “Where two are gathered...” Well, the two witnesses demanded by the Law did not appear on that occasion.
It is a ngreat irony that among the Reformers the most strongly opposed to Rome was Calvin, who did not quibble over small matters like bishops as he made clear in his contacts with Cranmer and the Poles, who would have celebrated the Eucharist every Sunday if matters had been left to him alone, was also not far in doctrine from Catholics and Orthodox on the Real Presence. Except that he would not have Our Lord tainted by then physical but would have had the faithful raised in spirit to the heavenly court to receive him. Now, of course, the Zwinglians dominate and “remember” the Last Supper more or less as we remember the 2nd of July, 1776, that is, as a long ago then rather than the eternal Now.

I have gone through a Passover celebration.

It’s not been a regular thing.

I don’t know what the Disciples did or didn’t do in that regard.

I don’t know what God’s priority is re the Jewish Feasts in this church era.

I believe a number of the Feasts and celebrations will be in force during the Millenium . . . and will be thrilled to participate.

Honestly?

The Acts and the epistles tell of nothing else. Most of the epistles are about the feasts, as they were the cheif times that large numbers of them got together. Not one of them mentions a gathering on any other occasion.

True. True.

Not sure how many assumptions are to be derived from that, however.

So if we're going to argue about Catholic Eucharistic teaching, we have this strange idea that we FIRST ought to agree what that teaching is and THEN argue about it.

I know, I know, I know the links I am about to present are not "official" Catholic teaching; however, it is not surprising that many Catholics and non-Catholics will be misled to believe they are "authentic" and are to be accepted as Cathoic truth.

Eucharistic Miracle

The Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano, Italy

The Real Presence: Christ's Body

Your technical argument concerning "substance" and "physical" is lost on most people including the majority of Catholics who don't believe in the Real Presence.

Ask any lay Catholic you know if the eucharist becomes the actual body and blood of Christ and you’ll see what Catholics believe.

Frankly, most lay Catholics don't believe in the real presence.

The pablum they eat comes out, too. Their church tells them whatever and they mimic whatever. They don't need proof, because the church said, the church said.

God gave us His Word because He knew heresy teachings would be rampant. And He condemns 'traditions of man' as they nullify His Word. And these pablum eaters - in spite of what God said - push the RCC heresy. And we wouldn't know they were heresy if we didn't have His Word. God equipped us very well with His Word and the Holy Spirit. He didn't leave us orphans. Orphans are led by men and man made teachings/traditions.

What I find laughable is - the RC pablum eaters, want to go to Him when their final day is up but don't believe His Word is the Final Authority. Can we say we are dealing with the clueless? It's the same mentality as liberals, they want money but don't want to work for it and/or take from those who have and give it to others.

Reading 1

Is 52:13—53:12

See, my servant shall prosper,
he shall be raised high and greatly exalted.
Even as many were amazed at himC
so marred was his look beyond human semblance
and his appearance beyond that of the sons of manC
so shall he startle many nations,
because of him kings shall stand speechless;
for those who have not been told shall see,
those who have not heard shall ponder it.

Who would believe what we have heard?
To whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
He grew up like a sapling before him,
like a shoot from the parched earth;
there was in him no stately bearing to make us look at him,
nor appearance that would attract us to him.
He was spurned and avoided by people,
a man of suffering, accustomed to infirmity,
one of those from whom people hide their faces,
spurned, and we held him in no esteem.

Yet it was our infirmities that he bore,
our sufferings that he endured,
while we thought of him as stricken,
as one smitten by God and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our offenses,
crushed for our sins;
upon him was the chastisement that makes us whole,
by his stripes we were healed.
We had all gone astray like sheep,
each following his own way;
but the LORD laid upon him
the guilt of us all.

Though he was harshly treated, he submitted
and opened not his mouth;
like a lamb led to the slaughter
or a sheep before the shearers,
he was silent and opened not his mouth.
Oppressed and condemned, he was taken away,
and who would have thought any more of his destiny?
When he was cut off from the land of the living,
and smitten for the sin of his people,
a grave was assigned him among the wicked
and a burial place with evildoers,
though he had done no wrong
nor spoken any falsehood.
But the LORD was pleased
to crush him in infirmity.

If he gives his life as an offering for sin,
he shall see his descendants in a long life,
and the will of the LORD shall be accomplished through him.

Because of his affliction
he shall see the light in fullness of days;
through his suffering, my servant shall justify many,
and their guilt he shall bear.
Therefore I will give him his portion among the great,
and he shall divide the spoils with the mighty,
because he surrendered himself to death
and was counted among the wicked;
and he shall take away the sins of many,
and win pardon for their offenses.

The Word is Our Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Scriptures are the Word of God, but they are also the words of men who have heard —and in the case of the disciples—seen the Word, the very image of God not in the form of letters on a page but in the form of a man like us in all things but sin. To spread the Good News, he founded a community who largely through preaching and by common worship - continues the mission it began nearly two thoiusdand years ago.
