Are social conservatives so unhappy with the current flock of 2012 GOP contenders that they might turn to Donald Trump?
That's what some top evangelical leaders, including former Christian Coalition head Ralph Reed, tell the Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody.
Trump, who has made headlines in recent days for his sudden embrace of birther conspiracies about President Obama, has been almost equally vocal about his surprisingly conservative views. Among other things, Trump has come out against same sex marriage and said he's against abortion--two stances that have evangelicals "intrigued," according to Brody....

Yes, he point blank stated this last night on BOR.
Pro-choice, but ban partial birth abortion I support a womans right to choose, but I am uncomfortable with the procedures. When Tim Russert asked me on Meet the Press if I would ban partial-birth abortion, my pro-choice instincts led me to say no. After the show, I consulted two doctors I respect and, upon learning more about this procedure, I have concluded that I would support a ban. I believe it is a personal decision that should be left to the women and their doctors, he said. Source: Pat Eaton-Robb, Associated Press Dec 2, 1999
I personally don't trust him.
Sorry, formatting failed.
I’m a fundamentalist Christian but at this point, for President, the only issues that matter are National Security without nation building or wild military adventures and securing the border and deporting illegals and shutting down all immigration. That’s what is and will destroy America completely, not gay guys or any of those second-tier issues. Where does Mr. Trump stand on immigration?
Perhaps, in some aspects, it did. However, Trump made this over-the-top statement - G.W. Bush was "the worst president in the history of the United States" - on CNN and was lamenting the fact that John Kerry, "a good friend', lost the 2004 election to Bush. Trump was against the war in Iraq and this seemed to be the basis for his dislike of Bush. However, he sounded exactly like any leftist spewing out anti-Bush rhetoric to a receptive interviewer that shared his view of Bush. Now, he's a conservative? I doubt it. That Christian evangelicals may be 'interested' in Donald Trump simply demonstrates the paucity of solid conservatives being considered as potential candidates for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. I'm a Christian evangelical and I admit that Trump is fun to watch, to a point, but I'm not really interested in Donald Trump becoming the GOP presidential candidate in 2012 - and I do not believe he shares my political or cultural values. Sarah Palin does - and if she runs for the GOP presidential nomination, she'll have my vote.
Given that Trump is a known Hillary Clinton supporter in the past and given that Ron Paul is completely wrong on most foreign policy issues, I’ll pass on both.
I am looking into Trumps previous activities and statements on positions. When I get it together, I am going to put it all together to post on FR. I personally think he is a flipflopping, showboating media hog that enjoys the spotlight, but who knows. I have been wrong many times before.
I'm intrigued how any evangelical could consider voting for Trump.
You and I share the same cultural values, but here in 2011 America, that’s not the priority.
The biggest priority NOW is:
A) Fix the economy.
B) Stop all immigration and DEPORT!
c) Secure Borders and US Security.
Gay guys aren’t standing on street corners to assualt anyone, nor are they breeding like rabbits, draining gov budgets, nor are they conducting home invasions or stealing jobs from Americans.

I’m an evangelical Christian and I’m seriously considering voting for Donald Trump.
Why?
Because I think most of the GOP people being fielded as potential pres candidates are posers. They talk a good game but won’t deliver. Just like the current GOP congress.
Right now, we need someone who’s not necessarily beholden to the RNC or DNC elite cabals. I believe Trump loves America probably more than those guys do. We must prioritize fixing the economy, stopping ALL immigration, and making smart national security decisions. I don’t know entirely how he stands on those issues, but I like that he’s independent though running on the GOP ticket. He’s not the type of guy to be pushed around. We don’t need some GOP lackey who’s beholden to GOP elites.
The way I heard it was that those donations had to be made as a sort of protection money. Makes sense.
I contend Ron Paul is 100% correct on policy...if you believe the Constitution should be followed. Otherwise vote however you want.
I agree with your priorities for America’s restoration, I just don’t think the right person has come along yet. We have a year or so, who knows who else will throw their hat into the ring.
I had hopes for Marc Rubio until the other day I heard this guy was enthusiastically supporting the Libya bombings. And apparently he’s pro-illegal. Seriously, I’m thinking of going country shopping. Immigration and diversity is the poison pill and most of the GOP, including those tough talking Texas r’s are allowing illegals to overpopulate Texas. But going country shopping isn’t so easy. I just found out the EU is busy importing 55 million Africans and now even so-called nationalist Putin is declaring Russia needs to import millions of the same. I don’t want my kids to grow up in something that resembles Brazil or Rawanda. The world has gone mad, selling more iPads has become more important than saving our nations.
I know what you mean about Texas, I live north of Houston.
The biggest priority NOW is:
A) Fix the economy. B) Stop all immigration and DEPORT! c) Secure Borders and US Security.
All of the above should be the paramount issues in a conservative candidate's campaign, as I assume they would be. However, I will not ignore my cultural values when choosing whom to support and vote for in the GOP primary in my state. That is how we end up with RINOs that eventually vote to continue to allow taxpayer money to help fund Planned Parenthood and, quite often, quietly endorse same-sex 'marriage', which is unacceptable to most dedicated Christians.
Gay guys arent standing on street corners to assault anyone, nor are they breeding like rabbits, draining gov budgets, nor are they conducting home invasions or stealing jobs from Americans.
My animus is not directed toward individuals but toward the continuing push by advocates of homosexual behavior to force it into public school curricula and, as far as possible, to make that behavior socially acceptable. I oppose that and although I agree it isn't a priority, it isn't an issue I'm willing to ignore if a candidate is 'right' on other, larger issues. Been there, done that. No more.
She was on his ticket at the time, genius! I take it you have zero experience in politics.
