Beck's Bogus Beliefs
March 2011
by T. A. McMahon
"Glenn Beck, the television and radio talk show host who is best known for his conservative political views, isn't someone whom we would normally address in our newsletter. Our concerns are usually directed at individuals, programs, or organizations that promote spiritual or theological views contrary to the Word of God. Beck, of late, seems to be making himself at home in that realm, and he's attracting many who call themselves Bible-believing Christians. ...
First of all, Glenn Beck is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He may refer to himself as a Christian, but he's certainly not a biblical Christian. The distinction is as wide as hell is from heaven: "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God" (2 John:9). Mormon doctrine is "another gospel" that exalts "another Jesus." Both false beliefs came out of the deceived and deceiving mind of Joseph Smith. Secondly, "our country" doesn't have "Christian roots," even though some are claiming that our founding fathers were true Christians. Many were not biblical Christians but Christians in name only, who followed the faith of Deism, Masonry, and the philosophy of the Enlightenment. Any early influence in America's history of a biblical nature very likely came from the Pilgrims and the Puritans...."
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
On appearances but dig a little deeper and some are cold as an iceberg.
“Ah, the famous ad hominem attack. Pure leftism at work. Congrats.”...not personal?
Factoid #1: AZ is 8% Lds. A certain Larry Schweikart who's a historian @ University Dayton was born in Mesa, AZ & rec'd some of his education from AZ State.
Factoid #2: Between the ages of 29 and 32, this same Mr. Schweikart had a deep enough interest in Mormonism to write the following:
* The Mormon Connection: Lincoln, the Saints, and the Crisis of Equality, Western Humanities Review, XXXIV, Winter 1980, pp. 1-22.
* Mormonism and Modernity: Freedom and Equality in Mormon Doctrine, Encounter, XLIV, Winter 1983, pp. 133-48.
Source: Dr. Larry Schweikart Curriculum Vitae
Factoid #3: And, then Mormon Glenn Beck...when he presents a historian on his show...why, of course...why wouldn't he want to host a fellow Mormon -- or least someone with an Lds background -- on his show?
How 'bout it, LS? Is LS is LDS? (Or was?) Or why the long-term (over 30-year) interest in Mormonism?
I don’t care if Larry is Mormon or not, it doesn’t take away the depth of his writings or their knowledge.

"What a stupid thing to say." is not making it personal. "You are stupid." is making it personal.
Wow! I had never connected the dots.
I dn’t understand the question.
Sorry.
That doesn’t surprise me at all.....
By the way, my college fraternity was started by masons .... the secret rituals between it and the lodge are virtually identical ...
Right after I got saved, I sent a withdrawal letter to the local and national offices....
Having a fraternity brother impersonating Zeus and Hermes in a secret dark-roomed ritual with altars, Greek columns, and sacred lights was a little too much. Before I got saved, I guess it didn’t bug me, but God took the blinders off when He saved me!!!!
Tsk...
We're admonished, instucted, taught, whatever - to be like JESUS and you come up with THIS?
WHAT 'sabbath' rules?
"Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy."
What RULE do you read in here?
Do ANY Mormons?
In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet, for our salvation depends on them.
1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.
2. The living prophet is more vital to us than the standard works.
3. The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet.
4. The prophet will never lead the church astray.
5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time.
6. The prophet does not have to say Thus Saith the Lord, to give us scripture.
7. The prophet tells us what we need to know, not always what we want to know.
8. The prophet is not limited by mens reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may advise on civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidencythe highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidencythe living prophet and the First Presidencyfollow them and be blessedreject them and suffer.
I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captainhow close do our lives harmonize with the Lords anointedthe living ProphetPresident of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.

You poor, deceived 'christian'!
Don't you KNOW that PRESBYTERIANism is UNTRUE?
--MormonDude(At least our Founder and ex-Living Prophet® SAID it was untrue; even though he gave no proof of it.)
Don't feel TOO bad; for TOO long; for the World has indoctrinated us all to just Get Along and not to make waves.
But isn't it a heady feeling to be able to, just like Jeremiah, TELL THE TRUTH and then the OTHER guy has to deal with it!
--MormonDude(At least our Founder and ex-Living Prophet® SAID it was untrue; even though he gave no proof of it.)
SOMEONE else says it UNTRUE! But presents no proof.
I think I might switch the place where I attend worship. The rock band at my present EV Free Church is so loud I can’t even hear myself sing. (On second thought, maybe that is a blessing in disguise!)
Where?
That's what demons do...
A joyful noise?
