You'll never make angelhood. Angels are God created beings, regardless of what Hollywood says.
I agree that tagging threads about Mormonism as anti-Christian is justifiable. When I as a devout Christian read words of Mormon founders and hierarchs such as:
"Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom," (Journal of Discourses, vol. 10, 1863, p. 127).
"And when the day cometh that the wrath of God is poured out upon the mother of harlots, which is the great and abominable church of all the earth, whose foundation is the devil, then, at that day, the work of the Father shall commence. . ." (1 Nephi. 14:17).
I see no other option than to conclude that Mormonism IS anti-Christian.
While I am aware of back peddling Mormon apologetics such as:
I see only typical dissembling by F.A.R.M.S. in transparent attempts to market Mormonism in the internet age.
Furthermore, Mormon doctrine is so antithetical to Christian doctrine that it is irreconcilably anti-Christian. The polytheism that they want to soft peddle as henotheism is just the tip of the iceberg.
If you have a burning desire to hold forth your views on the heresies of Christianity maybe you should start your own thread.
Your attempt to arbitrate disagreements about the finer points of essential Christian doctrine arising from sound exegesis of holy scripture is without value.
Sticking your nose in is rather troll like IMO.
re: “Wouldnt a mind that did not consider beliefs that contradict Scriptures, be the closed one?”
Who says I didn’t? The problem is I found the other beliefs to be false. On the other hand, isn’t it possible that a mind that refuses to be open to the idea that the Bible could, in fact, be God’s unique written Word, and that it is the absolute AUTHORITY on truth - couldn’t that mind also be closed?
If the Bible truly is God’s Word, then, unless He’s schizophrenic, it would not be contradicted by further revelation from Him. The Book of Mormon is contradicted by later writings from Joseph Smith, so he isn’t even consistent with himself, let alone the Bible.
For example:
“...God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and in him there is no variableness neither shadow of changing.” (Morm 9:9)
“...there is a God in heaven, who is infinite and eternal, from everlasting to everlasting the same unchangeable God...” (Doctrine and Covenant 20:17)
But, Joseph Smith taught that God was once a human being like us, and became God:
“God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted Man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens. That is the great secret... It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the character of God and to know...that he was once a man like us...” (from the “King Follett Discourse” TJS 342-343, also JoD 6:3-4)
Brigham Young said the same thing:
“He [God] is our Father - the Father of our spirits, and was once a man in mortal flesh as we are, and is now an exalted being.” (JoD 7:333):
If men can become gods, then, by definition Mormon doctrine is polytheistic, because there would have to be many gods in existence. Yet it says in
Book of Mormon, Alma 11:26-29
26 And Zeezrom said unto him: Thou sayest there is a true and living God? And Amulek said: Yea, there is a true and living God. Now Zeezrom said: Is there more than one God? And he answered, No.
So, there is a problem. These beliefs are not consistent even within Joseph’s own writings.
As a devout and well educated Catholic, doesn't coming to the defense of Mormonism over an anti-Christian descriptor leave a little bit of a bad taste in your mouth? I mean statements from Mormon hierarchs like Bruce McConlie like, "The Roman Catholic Church specifically -- singled out, set apart, described and designated as being 'most abominable above all other churches' ( Ne. 13:5)" are poignantly anti-Christian.
Heresies do not cease to be heresies because they claim over 12,000,000 members; either. -- ELSIE
Indeed.
So NOW you know!
Hie thee to a Stake House: NOW!
How DARE you actually post words of our past Leaders!
—MormonDude(It’s ok if WE post them though...)
Are you MOCKING what our Leader has written?
What was revealed from GOD in D&C 132??
--Mormon Dude(I know; I know; there's stuff in 132 that WE don't follow any more, either.)
Of COURSE!
--MormonDude(We'd have hardly any BoM at all if all the BIBLE was removed from it!)
Just in case anyone missed the previous 180+ YEARS of Mormonism-bashing true CHRIASTIANITY.
True Chriastianity? This should be good. Are you the spokesperson for true Christianity? Hopefully, you can explain to me the reason that you tithe.
But it's right there in the BIBLE; too!
Genesis 3:1-4
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, Did God really say, You must not eat from any tree in the garden?
The woman said to the serpent, We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.
You will not certainly die, the serpent said to the woman. For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.
--MormonDude(Why don't you 'christians' know your BIBLE like we MORMONs do?)
Do creatures grow up to be like their CREATOR?
When is the Holy Spirit going to 'grow up' and get a FLESHLY body like Jesus and the FATHER?
--MormonDude(Another question we've not had answered yet.)
There are 51,998 MORE of us where WE came from!
We can be on YOUR doorstep TOMORROW!
Hi Stu!
Glad to see you back!
Can you explain how THIS would work?
