Lucifer is at present setting the final global stage for the worlds reception and worship of the Lawless One (Eph. 6:12). This man will be the lawless pinnacle of human depravity and will be exalted far above all the lawless ones that have ever existed before him - in the history of man - by Satan (2 Thess. 2:3-12, Rev. 13). Only one event, the Rapture of the Church of Christ prevents his unmasking and manifestation to a godless Christ rejecting world (2 Thess. 2:5-8, Rev. 6:1-2).
This masterpiece of Satan will absolutely despise ALL that is Almighty God; His ETERNAL Person, His ETERNAL sovereignty, His established ETERNAL RIGHTEOUSNESS, His OMNIPOTENT creative design, and His ordained and established laws and absolutes for time and ETERNITY (Dan. 7:25, Rev. 13: 5-6). Most of all, it will be this mans burning passion to tyrannically oppose - lock stock and barrel during this seven year period - Almighty Gods Divine and angelic revelation, His signs and wonders, His godly messengers of the glorious gospel of Jesus Messiah and chiefly - Almighty Gods Christ the Lamb of Almighty God (Dan. 7: 25, 9:27, 11:36-39, Rev.17:12-14; Rev. 6-19).
This seven year period will be the junction station of the last 4300 years of the godless and lawless rebellion of Noahs descendants (Gen. 9:1-19, 10, 11). The horrific devastation and global tribulation at this time will bring to the forefront mans godless rebellion and rejection of Almighty Gods saving grace (2 Thess. 2:10-12). There is nothing like intense tribulation, oppression, and anarchy to bring out that which is in the heart of fallen man (Gen. 6:3, 5, Jer.17:9, Matt. 15:17-20, Gal. 5:19-21).

Agree with your take on some who enjoy nothing more than causing stife and degrading a differing view than theirs. Always showing up but have little to actually say. Thank you for your post...rightly discerning is a good thing.

"Making predictions is hard. Especially about the future," said Yogi Berra, a far wiser man than this poser / poster.
Isn't it funny how these "seers," who are so eager to pronounce with tones of utmost conviction, the inevitable global triumph of evil -- were completely blindsided by the fall of the Soviet Union? Rather than repenting before God, these blind guides immediately scurried around, desperately seeking other antichrist candidates to cower / grovel before.
Fortune-telling is not an innocent pastime -- especially when the fortunes told are always of defeat for the Lord, His anointed, and His people. The evil spies of Numbers 13 undermined the morale of God's people, brought upon themselves their own deaths, and led Israel to waste a generation walking in circles in the desert.
Considering the greatness of our King, why do some become unpaid volunteer cheerleaders for the other team? At least prostitutes get paid for their services.
I didnt say you did. I said, The Bible does not speak of a Laodicean age. Nor does it infer anything remotely like what you pictured.
Trinity is a concept derived directly from the Bible which every real Christian affirms. Saying something like, We are living in an age (Laodicean) like no other, does not rise to the same level. Hardly any Christians agree with your statement.
You tell me that everything Jesus speaks of concerning the church at Laodicea isn't a precise description of not only today's church but also the age we're living in.
Its not. Anyone can take Rev. 3 and allegorize it to make it say what they want, about this age or any other. How old is this age of yours, anyway? 2 years? 200 Years? Hard to tell when the picture youre painting is so fuzzy.
We live in an age unlike no other that has kicked God out (hence the picture of Jesus on the outside knocking on the door).
But this statement has nothing to do with the Laodicean church, that is if you actually read the text of Rev. 3:14-22.
It seems from what you wrote that you scoff at the idea that the end of the age is near and His coming is imminent. As I've pointed out, you don't have to look very far to see that we are building quickly to annihilation such as has never been seen before.
Scoff at futurist nonsense, yes. Scoff at futurist allegorizing, yes.
Every generation of Christian for the last 2000 years has been duped into believing theirs is somehow prophetically unique and the terminal generation. Its a disease called Last Days Madness . The good news is theres a cure.
Perhaps youd like to take my survey of futurist literati. What is your prediction for the futurist rapture event?
Havent we seen some of this already? Most of the sexually and financially promiscuous evangelical leaders have been from the futurist wing. From gay divorcees like Hal Lindsey and Richard Roberts, to Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Bakker, to Ted Haggard and David Hocking. Sadly, the list goes on. Some have lost everything, while some have gone on to dupe a new generation with their huckstering ways.
Dispensationalists can't hope to see the nations submit to the King of kings in this age because:
Numbers-wise, Europe is well on its way to being overrun by Muslims.
Sharia law is beginning to make inroads in America. (Do you know anything about Sharia law?)
Islam believes this 12th Imam who will kill Jews and Christians is the second coming of Christ who will explain the Bible was never correct.
Islam also believes that violence and death will help bring this coming of the 12th Imam.
One of the names in Islamic tradition for this person is the Beast.
Nuclear capabilities are set to fall into the hands of Iran who has shown intention to use this on Israel and America. Nuclear capabilities are becoming easier to come by. Once these Islamic Jihadists have this capability, they think 70 virgins will be waiting for them and the 12th Imam will appear if they blow up the world. A nuclear device can now be hidden in a suitcase
Is this futurism or allegorizing? No, these are just a few documented facts. Maybe you can say none of this matters. Its all been said before youre a victim of Last Day Madness. Well, at some point, your NUH UH starts to sound almost word-for-word like the scoffers in scripture who say all things continue as they always have (II Peter 3:4).
God promised the Church of Philadelphia that they would be "kept from the hour of temptation, which will come upon the all the world to try them that dwell on the earth" (Rev. 3:10). I'm sure the millions of Chinese believers and Koreans and the many Muslim also that are being miraculously saved will be in that number.
Nevertheless, "he now withholds until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed..." (II Thess 2:7-8).
Yep. 3 decades ago it was not the muslim boogeyman, it was the Roman empire/ten nation confederacy boogeyman. The antichrist was going to be from the west. Now the antichrist is going to be from the middle east. What changed? The Bible? No. Sound biblical exegesis? No. (Futurism never even gets close to sound exegesis.)
Whats changed is a new set of hucksters with new clientele and new money to be had giving their own brand of newspaper eisegesis. Hal Lindsey gives way to Joel Rosenberg.
Dollars to donuts itll change in another 2-3 decades when a new boogeyman arises. Different Bible texts will be invoked to prove we are in a new phase of the Laodicean age.
Its futurisms version of musical chairs. Whoever is left standing is out. Let the music begin.
This is why we scoff. The System® is as phony as a three dollar bill.
Falsely assign assumptions and then making a judgement IS WRONG!
I recieve those inputs all of the time on this forum, after I’ve presented scripture that posters would rather ignore.
The fortunetelling comes from the futurist misinterpretation of these prophetic books. E.g.,:
God promised the Church of Philadelphia that they would be "kept from the hour of temptation, which will come upon the all the world to try them that dwell on the earth" (Rev. 3:10). I'm sure the millions of Chinese believers and Koreans and the many Muslim also that are being miraculously saved will be in that number.
The reference in Rev. 3:10 was not to the entire surface of the earth. World has a biblical connotation that does not comport with futurist speculation. See here .
Now this is curious:
Nevertheless, "he now withholds until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed..." (II Thess 2:7-8).
Lets get the entire context:
1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you,This is written to believers (aka the Church) and is clearly a reference to the Rapture* (aka the Second Coming). See verse 1. But is also a reference to judgment day. See verse 8. Both verse 1 and verse 8 speka of the same, single, end time event.
2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.
3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?
6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.
7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. (2 Thess. 2)
* not the Pre-Trib Rapture Distinct from the Second Coming (PTRDSC); aka the rapture of futurism.
Yes!
It is futurism or allegorizing when you attempt to correlate your list to Biblical passages.
Maybe that's not all that bad. I mean you're saying (and obviously denouncing) that different ones in different times have said different things about their expectations of Christ's return in the light of their current events. Fair enough. But is that something to scoff at or be contemptuous of? God's Word says the Spirit and the bride say, "Come Lord Jesus." (Rev 22:17). I mean if you're in love with your Savior and Friend who will be with you for evermore, what's wrong with longing for his return and expecting that maybe this setup or that setup may be what indicates His imminent return? Has it occurred to you that this may be exactly God's design to help every generation not fall asleep but make themselves ready for Him?
Among the points that God's Word make that you seem to ignore or strive with are:
1) The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, "will show you things to come" (John 16:13). God's Word makes it clear that God wants his people to be aware of what's coming and be ready for it. What things to come has the Holy Spirit been showing you lately?
2) That one of these setups really will usher His return (II Peter 3:10). Today, the prospect of nuclear weaponry in the hands of Islamic madmen and the specter of nuclear holocaust is not some futurist allegory but a very real threat that the scientific and political communities throughout the world take very seriously. The nonreligious, non-futruistic, non allegorical scientific community has a doomsday clock that is about one minute to midnight when the world turns into pumpkin.
At some point, your NUH UH starts to look like Last Day Madness or at least denial.
This is what futurists dont get. They dont get that their interpretation of the Bible is not the same as the Bible itself.
The Bible indicates that the Second Coming with be an any-moment, thief in the night-type affair when everyone is going about preaching peace and safety. People are eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage. Folks are living normal lives, including Christians. (cf. 1 Thess. 5:2,3, 2 Peter 3:10; Matt. 24:38ff).
Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. (Matt. 24:44)It doesnt get much plainer than that. If you are expecting it, you are probably wrong. Thus, we scoff at those who predict the future and think they are in the know.
But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. (Matt. 25:5)Its not wrong to go about normal human activities while the heavenly Bridegroom is delayed. And He has delayed His coming for 2000 years. It may be another 2000 or 10,000 years for all we know. What matters is that you occupy till He comes, and expect the trumpet sound at any moment.
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,
13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you. (Titus 2)
- "The Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints" (Jude 1:14).
- "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean." (Rev 19:7,8,14)
Why don’t you take the time to read what I posted. Might make your posts a more coherent effort.
My posts are fine. It might be an interpretative issue.
Such as? Quoting verses does not identify a problem since I believe whats written in those verses.
The whole Bible is for us, for our edification, but that does not mean it was all written to us. The instructions you cited were our Lord's prophetic warning to the "this generation" he was addressing. Those who heeding this warning escaped with their lives 40 years later.
Folks who try to make a practical warning to other folks apply to us today find themselves denying foundational elements of the faith. For example, as Protestants, we believe in salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, plus nothing. Folks who attempt to wrest this verse out of context and make it irrelevant for the last 1,940 years also tend to claim that the blood of Jesus Christ isn't good enough, and doesn't get us "saved" enough, to prepare us for the resurrection. We have to do some kind of special spiritual gymnastics to make ourselves more saved than Jesus did, in order to "be ready." The work of Christ was not good enough. We need to add our works to His -- or the rapture will happen and we'll be "left behind."
SO: how "saved" do we need to be? How much more "saved" do we need to make ourselves, than Jesus made us, before we are "rapture-ready?" What do I need to do to outperform Jesus, and improve on His work?
And your answer is? Enquiring minds want to know!
