HINDUS HAVE applauded Pope Benedict for including verse from ancient Hindu scripture Upanishads in the Good Friday Meditations and Prayers led by him at Roman Colosseum.
Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was a remarkable gesture from Pope and invited him to study more ancient Hindu scriptures, which were very rich in philosophical thought. He or other Hindu scholars would gladly provide the help and resources in this regard, if asked, Zed added.
Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, also commended His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI for inclusion of a verse from Indias Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagores Gitanjali and reference to peace icon Mahatma Gandhi in these prayers.
This years 'Way of the Cross at the Colesseum' Meditations and Prayers on Good Friday, led by Pope, included well-known verse from Brahadaranyakopanishad (Lead me from the unreal to the real, from darkness to light, from death to immortality), line from Tagores Gitanjali (Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service) and reference to Mahatma Gandhi.
Rajan Zed stressed that all religions should work together for a just and peaceful world. Dialogue would bring us mutual enrichment, he added.
Pope Benedict heads the Roman Catholic Church, which is the largest of the Christian denominations. Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksha (liberation) is its ultimate goal.
Another case of CG using personal abuse as standard “form of debate” — it’s against Forum rules. This is the nth time the poster has done it despite having multiple posts pulled on this and other threads.
Pretty sad when a ‘certain poster’ keeps pinging the moderator for imagined insults rather than sticking with the debates in question.
Not only is this a reprehensible unchristlike tactic, this poster may as well wave a white flag of surrender as that is a sign of losing the debate when attempts to disrupt the thread or remove other posters so as to silence opposition is engaged. Perhaps this poster feels threatened in some capacity?
(Must be a Jesuit).
State what that was please. And please be specific.
I have done no such thing. But I do see other posters intentionally flame baiting. I'll take it as a complement.
The latter, back to the ghetto with you!
"Jesus and the Pharisees both accused each other of being Satanic. Its common in theological disputes."
"You need to take a break from the open Religion Forum threads to grow some skin."
Does this only apply to me or to Catholics in general?
That should be expected on "open" Religion Forum threads.
But to make that charge to another Freeper, personally, is flame baiting, trouble making - it is "making it personal."
If you say "Protestants are heretics." that is not making it personal. But if you say "You are a heretic." that IS making it personal.
If you post photos or make claims that Buddhists are Satanic that is not making it personal. But if you make that claim or narrowly post that photo to another Freeper, personally, it is flame baiting, trouble-making - it IS making it personal.
Do you two understand the difference?
Now, concerning when to leave the thread due to thin skin - if you are internalizing all the condemnations, ridicule and disputes about your particular religion, deity, religious leader, etc. - then you should leave the "open" Religion Forum thread.
If that is a continuing problem for you, not thread specific, then you should IGNORE "open" Religion Forum threads altogether and instead post to RF threads labeled "caucus" "ecumenical" "prayer" or "devotional."
I can and do intervene to keep posters from "making it personal."
There is nothing I can do to keep a poster from "taking it personally."
Have a good one.
your group is satanic. Leave them and accept Christ as Lord.
Yes? Are you an Animal Planet fan?
That is not correct. See Here on Post #363
Statement made was: "WHy do you worship Satan?"
Anti-Catholics would be so funny if they weren’t so ridiculous.
Just so you know I pinged the moderator and hit the abuse button on that one. Forum violations you know.
My Master Is Christ....who's yours?
“There is no proof that Peter was even in Rome”
There is a clear record of Peter being in Rome. St. Clement of Rome alludes to it in 90-95 AD in his letter to the Church at Corinth. St. Ignatius writings in circa 107 AD clearly indicates that Peter and Paul were both in Rome. St. Irenaeus of Lyon writing circa 170-175 AD also attests that St. Peter and Paul were in Rome. Tertullian, writing while still an orthodox Catholic mentions it.
I repeat again, anti-Catholics would be so funny if they weren't so ridiculous. The above is just another example.
