Pope includes Hindu verses in prayers on Good Friday

HINDUS HAVE applauded Pope Benedict for including verse from ancient Hindu scripture Upanishads in the Good Friday Meditations and Prayers led by him at Roman Colosseum.

Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was a remarkable gesture from Pope and invited him to study more ancient Hindu scriptures, which were very rich in philosophical thought. He or other Hindu scholars would gladly provide the help and resources in this regard, if asked, Zed added.

Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, also commended His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI for inclusion of a verse from India’s Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s Gitanjali and reference to peace icon Mahatma Gandhi in these prayers.

This year’s 'Way of the Cross at the Colesseum' Meditations and Prayers on Good Friday, led by Pope, included well-known verse from Brahadaranyakopanishad (“Lead me from the unreal to the real, from darkness to light, from death to immortality”), line from Tagore’s Gitanjali (“Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service”) and reference to Mahatma Gandhi.

Rajan Zed stressed that all religions should work together for a just and peaceful world. Dialogue would bring us mutual enrichment, he added.

Pope Benedict heads the Roman Catholic Church, which is the largest of the Christian denominations. Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksha (liberation) is its ultimate goal.

You and many others.

It’s sad, but it’s rejoiced over. Winning the battle but losing the war. Because none of this matters to the libs who fight us, the Islamists who hate us or the Devil himself.

I’m outta this one.

Read what was written. That cross is upside down because Peter was crucified upside down. The Pope is in line from Peter

There is no proof that Peter was even in Rome let alone crucified upside down there on an upside down cross...

There is however evidence that an upside down cross is Pagan, or Satanic...

Just because you repeat what you've been told doesn't make it true...

God is always victorious and He has promised that the gates of hell will not prevail against His bride.

Is your church in Hell, behind the gates???

Foxe includes the Albigensians in his list of martyrs. They were Cathars and as such taught and practiced Gnostic heresy.

Besides refusing to bow down to your popes, what Gnostic heresy did the Cathars practice???

They hate us

Violation of forum rules, attributing motive. Plus, you're so very wrong.

If I hated you guys I'd stay SILENT. I'd never say one word and gleefully watch you all descend into the pits of Hell with all your false doctrine and pagan heresies.

But that would be sinful behavior. The Lord tells me to preach the Gospel, to REBUKE, to REFUTE ERROR, and so forth. Its love for you and for your souls which prompts the fight for the faith. You see it as heresy, God sees it as truth, and I see the RCC as the real heretics. And the more you guys fall all over yourselves trying to defend the reprehensible false doctrines, unbiblical decrees, sacraments, et. al. of the Vatican the more you're convincing me you don't have the truth and reaffirms my faith! Case in point: THIS THREAD! Its amazing to watch the entire bunch of you falling all over yourselves trying to defend Hinduism in a Catholic mass!! If it weren't so sad it would be hysterically funny.

Imagine if half the effort that went into the mocking of fellow Christians went into witnessing outside abortion mills. Imagine if all the time that every poster had spent on this thread had been spent on their knees praying for those Christians who face death because they proclaim Christ Jesus. Imagine the force for God’s glory that could have been.

And look at all the people who died yesterday who thought they were Christians and likely went to hell because they were taught and believed false, hell damning doctrine...

You have your ministry; I have mine...

AMEN!

I've always thought based on this verse:

"For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it." - Matthew 7:14

...that if what you believe in matters of faith is popular, or if there is a huge following, or a huge hierarchy behind it, then you're probably on the wrong road.

Seems the scriptures are pretty clear on that...

Note -- another case of "making it personal" on this thread "Just because you repeat what you've..."

This is picking the scab over and over again.

Another case of ‘making it personal’ by the same poster “to bow down to your...” —> you have pointed out the same in the past not to say this.

you mean the errors like the post containing all the lies or the false post that criticized the NIV as a Catholic translation?

Quix you never fail to make me scratch my head and wonder how people reconcile paranoid conspiracy theory with a professed faith in a sovereign God.

Can't serve two masters.

Stop spreading falsehood. I TOLD you already I DON’T USE the NIV. Therefore, I ASSUMED you were using a Catholic version since I don’t use that one either!

I made a mistake which I later corrected.

I agree — RM, we had been told that “Jesus and the Pharisees both accused each other of being Satanic. It’s common in theological disputes.”, so the above posts should be hence fine.
