Prayer Request: Deployed Husband "sick" in Iraq
Posted on 01/18/2011 12:19:31 PM PST by PERKY2004
PRAYER REQUEST:
My wonderful Dear Husband (Ron) is currently deployed to Iraq as a pilot with the USAF. I just received an email from his Commanding Officer, alerting me to the fact that my husband is "sick", is unable to fly or get to a phone or email, and that he wanted to let me know.
Please pray for Ron's health, safety, and protection. And please pray for my peace of mind back here in California as I strive to NOT freak out and worry over this.
My wonderful DH is in his 28th year of military service and this is his 7th deployment to Iraq with the USAF.

Best wishes for your husband and thank you for his service to our nation. I hope he has the best medical care our military can provide him and that he is better soon.

I would recommend that you communicate with your husband's CO and ask how you can send a few photos or other things to cheer up your husband. Also, as for the Chaplin's contact information so you can have the Chaplin check in on your husband from time to time. Most CO’s are not very forthcoming with medical details. The Chaplin might be a better avenue.
Just a thought.

You need to get in touch with the Red Cross.

“I just received an email from his Commanding Officer, alerting me to the fact that my husband is “sick”, is unable to fly or get to a phone or email, and that he wanted to let me know.”
Is there no way for you to get additional info, or at least updated info?

Prayers begun! Please keep us informed.

Fortunately, my wonderful DH’s Commanding Officer is from his unit and they are friends (and the same rank) ~ so I’ve send back an email asking for more details.... and I’m sure he’ll respond.

UPDATE ~ They are suspecting a nasty case of the flu or possibly food poisoning ... which actually makes me feel better than just “he’s sick and can’t contact you!”

THANKS FOR THE PRAYERS, EVERYONE. One of the hardest things about being a military wife with a deployed husband is that I worry (a lot) about my wonderful DH ... and I think this just caught me at a fragile/anxious moment. I am relieved it's "just the flu" and I appreciate all the words of encouragement and the prayers.
I feel a bit like a noodle for overreacting. :(
