Evangelical book catalogs promote books such as Planet Earth: The Final Chapter, The Great Escape, and the Left Behind series. Bumper stickers warn us that the vehicles occupants may disappear at any moment. It is clear that there is a preoccupation with the idea of a secret rapture. Perhaps this has become more pronounced recently due to the expectation of a new millennium and the fears regarding potential Y2K problems. Perhaps psychologically people are especially receptive to the idea of an imminent, secret rapture at the present time. Additionally, many Christians are not aware that any other position relative to the second coming of Jesus Christ exists. Even in Reformed circles there are numerous people reading these books. Many of these people are unaware that this viewpoint conflicts with Scripture and Reformed Theology.

I didn’t mean to stump you with that question about Jesus’ wheat and darnel illustration. Go ahead and takes whatever amount of time you need and then get back to me. Until then...it was to the seventy disciple sent out that Jesus said what records at Luke 10:16.
John 1:11-13 “He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husbands will, but born of God.”
Romans 8:14-15 “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, Abba, Father. “
Galations 3:26-27 “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”
I John 3:2 “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.”
i agree with much of what you had to say. The main point is it is the Holy Spirit that protects the Church from teaching error, not man! But the Holy Spirit will not lead someone to believe a different doctrine in the 16th century than the 1st! The Church was given the authority of Jesus to teach in Matthew 28. sola scriptura was not practiced in the Apostolic era and should not be now. The NT example is for the Church to teach, not for everyone to read the Scriptures and come to their own conclusions on the Trinity, baptism, the Eucharist, apostolic succession, sola fide, once save always saved, predestination, the Mass, infant baptism, etc. etc. sola scriptura has led to so much confusion in doctrine, that now we are told doctrine doesn’t really matter, who can know the truth, etc. the cults eat this thinking up!! the churches you mention were local churches, all holding the Catholic Faith received from the Apostles. You can read about this Church in the early Church Fathers, what they taught, how they worshipped. By the grace of God and the protection of the Holy Spirit, you will find that Church is still here 20 centuries later. That is not due to men, but Jesus! you may not think of yourself as your own “pope”, but when it comes to doctrine, you follow what you believe to be true, rather than being taught by the Church. there is no record of anyone doing this in the NT. let me ask you, what power on earth has the authority to absolutely declare what books belong in the Bible and which don’t? anyone? or are we all supposed to decide the canon on our own? you may not like it or accept it, but Jesus decided to use “men” ( we call them the Apostles ) and they have successors, sorry they are “men” too!
Any non-Catholic who accepts Scripture as God’s Word, does so in spite of Catholic teaching, not because of it, just like with everything else.
The Catholic church gets things right once in a while. And just like a blind squirrel finding a nut now and then, it’s sheer coincidence.
i love when you quote the Catholic Scriptures.
INDEED.
The thumb pad has been OK for 3-4 days or so without a bandage. Still quite sensitive but workable.
The nurse at church has been checking the wounds Sundays and Wed nights.
The middle finger has been without a bandage for a day or so. I keep bonking it—no thrill but it’s doing OK with a thick scab of dried blood and a bit of paper tape on top of that. More amzaingly, I’m mostly avoiding picking at it. Praise God for that!
Some folks at the college have gotten infected from very minor stuff and ended up in INTENSIVE CARE! WOW.
THANKS TONS FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND CARING.
why did Saul need to wash away his sins in Acts 22:16?
didn’t stump me, you aren’t making sense for me to respond to. you want to try again?
Not only that, even more damning is they preach a different gospel. They don't believe in the sufficiency of the Cross all kinds of "buts", "ands", "ifs", and "maybes" are added to it.
They stand on the wrong side of the Cross.
Any non-Catholic who has the Word of God, only has it because the Church compiled the books and monks and other scribes faithfully copied them by hand for 16 centuries. Aren’t you glad God used pagan idolaters that way?
Yes Mom... :o)
Getting back to the topic of the thread, there is a body of thought that one of the explanations offered for the disappearance of the millions taken, is UFO abduction.
Yeah, yeah, I've heard that. Those are (some of) the people whose teaching I trust not a whit. "I don't know why the Book of Enoch isn't canon", I heard one of them say.
do you deny the Trinity as well?
Or format html.
olofob: why did Saul need to wash away his sins in Acts 22:16?
Why are you changing the subject? Why not actually address what was said?
This isn't the first time you've done that. Several of us have been on the receiving end of that strategy.
if Romans 10:9 is true, isn’t anyone who believes the Nicene Creed to be true, saved? what say you?
Mea culpa! I just don’t have the ability to make it any more simple.
read the verse, where does it say Saul accepted Christ as Lord?
