The Not So Secret Rapture
reformed.org ^ | W. Fred Rice

Evangelical book catalogs promote books such as Planet Earth: The Final Chapter, The Great Escape, and the Left Behind series. Bumper stickers warn us that the vehicle’s occupants may disappear at any moment. It is clear that there is a preoccupation with the idea of a secret rapture. Perhaps this has become more pronounced recently due to the expectation of a new millennium and the fears regarding potential Y2K problems. Perhaps psychologically people are especially receptive to the idea of an imminent, secret rapture at the present time. Additionally, many Christians are not aware that any other position relative to the second coming of Jesus Christ exists. Even in Reformed circles there are numerous people reading these books. Many of these people are unaware that this viewpoint conflicts with Scripture and Reformed Theology.

Thanks for being terminally wrong yet again.

It helps tremendously reveal the farce that such a perspective spewed so chronically from the

Vatican Alice In Wonderland School Of Theology And Reality Mangling

tends so wholesale to be.

Unlike Catholics we can choose the church we attend

Wonderful. What do you call yourself instead of Christian? Silverlingian?

“Vatican Alice In Wonderland School Of Theology And Reality Mangling”

I’d get that hiccup checked if I were you. Sounds like GERD.

to have their crumbly cake and pretend it’s pure as Mary’s white hanky and eat it or flush it or play evil games with it all at the same time—and with a straight and usually unreasonably INDIGNANT face.

Reminds me of the scams that Kenneth Hagin has run. Wasn't he prone to indignant faces?

Neither do we.

“writing and posting personally assaultive text

is

DIFFERENT

from

TAKING things personally as assaultive”

I’m an RC. I have no problem with the term as some others do. That is their choice and their perogative as some Protestant’s view Protty or Proddy as offensive.

So every time you use the term RC HEREON with a descriptive phrase - I WILL take it personally because you are referring to me.

Why don't you come clean on the real reason knowing this is so important to you that you risk being banned for calling everyone who won't answer you a coward, evil, filthy, etc.?

To the best of my knowledge, I am not risking being banned. If I am, I depend on the RM to tell me, not some hotheaded proddie living in May 2010.

THE QUEST FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2660549/posts

Romans 14
Do Not Pass Judgment on One Another
1As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. 8For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

10Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11for it is written,

“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall confess to God.”

12So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

any Proddy would be brain dead to share such private info publicly on FR.

Look, we take a lot of flak because we are public with our Christianity and are not ashamed to be Catholic. You are public (although not nearly so) with your Pentecostalism. There are others here who have self identified with a denomination or belief system.

But there are many who skirt the issues, slip the particulars, issue general platitudes, and feel free to sway with whatever wind is blowing through their world. "I believe in the Bible" is often used as an excuse not to really believe anything, but to hang onto a generalized comfortable non-demanding effortless false cloak of Christianity.

I am not on genteel terms with the good Dr., for instance, and feel very strongly about her beliefs, but she is clear as to her belief system and posts from the documents that support it.

And I actually think more highly of her because of that than of those who hide behind a marshmallow (sorry marshmallow) insipid and meaningless claim of Christianity with no substance at all. She stands for something. I believe it is dead wrong, but she is not a bowl of tapioca.

I can turn off the computer any time and escape the harassment I encounter here any time I wish. Can’t do that if someone knows who I am, where I live, and who my family is.

Copout. People know what I believe, but who here knows personal information about me other than I am an orthodox Catholic?

INDEED!

The Rabid-ness of the Rabid Clique types seems to have escalated a standard deviation or two.

In typical RC fashion, they continually

!!!!!DEMAND!!!!!

Private information

IN SPITE OF THE RM'S EXHORTATIONS NOT TO!

I guess they figure that Mother Mary will out rank and cool the RM's jets.

Some are particularly intense about doing everything they can to grab someo Proddys by the throat and thrash them rather vengefully. Hideous.

You’d better read it then.

“10Why do you pass judgment on your brother”

Not one Catholic will tell you what the disposition is of a soul. That is God’s domain.

But we have been told on these theads that Catholics are going to damnation.

TAKE THE PLANK OUT OF YOUR OWN EYE BEFORE DEALING WITH YOUR BROTHERS

Differences which have caused wars don’t have to be major.

Anyone who fights over what Scripture says are disputable matters is wrong, according to Scripture.

There are Protestants here who are predestinationists of varying degrees, and some who aren’t. We accept those differences as they are not critical to one’s salvation. Faith in Christ is. That is the unifying factor.

Protestants are far more willing to let the HS do the convicting of error in another person’s life than to demand the legalistic adherence to church dogma, doctrine, and theology that the Catholic church requires. If we feel someone is wrong, we point it out and move on, letting God do the convicting, since we believe that every man answers to God, not us.

We don’t pronounce anathemas on people who disagree with our church doctrine.
