About 200 priests were present at the first meeting of the Association of Catholic Priests (ACP) in Port Laoise on September 15. The group is calling for a re-evaluation of Catholic sexual teaching and practice that recognizes the profound mystery of human sexuality and the experience and wisdom of Gods people.
The associations goals include pressuring the Church for a re-designing of the ministry to incorporate the gifts, wisdom and expertise of the entire faith community, male and female likely a thinly veiled call for the ordination of women. The rest of the list includes the full roster of demands of the far left progressive wing of the Catholic Church, including demands for a democratising re-structuring of the governing system of the Church, and the abolition the Churchs hierarchical organisation, particularly in the appointment of Church leaders.
The group also wants full implementation of the vision and teaching of the Second Vatican Council, with special emphasis on: the primacy of the individual conscience, language that has been used for decades in other countries to absolve Catholics of the need to obey Church teaching on contraception and even abortion.
Ecumenism and the promotion of peace, justice and the protection of God's creation are also included in the ACP manifesto....
Although the Irish Catholic reports that interest in the new reform group is low among priests, an indicator of the general doctrinal orthodoxy and health of the Catholic clergy and episcopate in Ireland may be judged by a recent interview with the outgoing bishop of Killaloe, Willie Walsh.
Walsh, who retired in May....told the Irish Times last week that throughout his priestly life, he had barely maintained his faith in the existence of God, the divinity of Christ and the existence of the afterlife, never mind the Catholic teaching on homosexuality...

Catholic ping!
Then we can elect the Bishops!
I heard that one a while ago.
The battle continues...
That looks like about 200 priests whose faculties should be suspended.
“Shortage” or no, we’re better off without them.
Waitaminnit---
There's already a Church of Ireland?
Well, why don't you just join them, then? They still have lots of old church buildings they swiped from the Catholics way back when. Heck, there's probably enough that each of you could have one of your own...
And you could have lesbian bishops and sterile marriages and do like the Euro and shrink right down to total irrelevance!

Sorry for double post. I was just so excited.
It is currently hosting several apostolic visitations which are focusing on various aspects of Catholic life including its seminaries, religious orders and its response to clerical sex abuse.
Bishop Silly Willie Walsh has been one of the ringleaders of the current insanity.
The problem with the 200 Irish priests (aka,pagan/atheists)
is Pope B. He has no courage from his knowledge of Yahuweh’s Scriptures. If Pope B was a valid leader he would IMMEDIATELY purge these heretics from the Church for their avowed and demonstrated false (Satanic) teachings/advocacy.
But he does none of this which makes him suspect as well.
That really was worth saying at least twice. These people always seem to think they’ve got Exciting New Thoughts, when it’s been done over and over, with the results there for all to see.
Great! Good thing I’m inculating kids against this bullshit in my catechesis class.
Won’t shed a tear when the 60’s generation finally leaves.
I agree.
What this may do is start a schism.
Those who believe women should be priests and those who do not.
Somewhere there will remain a true Catholic faith and that is the Church I will belong to.
Still, Cardinal Sons'o'Collins, your remarks about the Pope strike me as just Monday-morning quarterbacking from somebody who has but a weak grasp of how the Church is run internally.
We have a sort of subsidiariy in the Church: that is, it is not a monolithic autocracy. These priests have bishops. These bishops are in Ireland, not Italy. Their bishops are responsible for them.
It sounds like these judas-priests are too mealy-mouthed to actually come out and say what they're up to using subjects, verbs, and direct objects ("Let's ordain women," "Let's approve contraception and other sex perversions," ) etc. so they's still using the familiar circumlocutions like "the wisdom and experience of the whole church," "primacy of conscience" and the rest. In other words, they're still at the smoke-and-mirrors stage.
I'm betting they're mostly greying boyos with bad knees, and I'm betting that when they die out, they won't be replaced by younger lads of the same type. I understand Ireland has only one Catholic seminary left, and it's almost empty. So they'll be replaced by Poles. Filipinos. Nigerians. Or God will raise up a new Columcille: Oremus.
To sum up. They don’t like the Church telling them they just can’t put their private parts wherever they damn well please.
I'll stick with God's wisdom, thank you very much.
Wont shed a tear when the 60s generation finally leaves...
...wait a minute, now, I’m from that generation, graduated HS in 1967...I can’t stand what my sidekicks have created...if no tears for me, at least a Hail Mary or two...
at least a Hail Mary or two...
...in Latin, if you please...
Thanks. You’ll get your credit when all is said and done. “Wise and faithful servant”.
So sad to see how the land of my ancestors has fallen. Ireland once gave the world so many good priests and religious, and now the Emeral Isle’s vomitus contains the likes of these apostates.
