In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

"Is the American public school educational system really that bad?

Luke 6:43 - Jesus said to his disciples: "A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. [and nuts]

Then that means that the approval for that book on Mary that Quix posted IS official Church position and doctrine.

How many times have we seen some Catholic official go off half cocked and the FRoman Catholics shriek that that does NOT represent official Church doctrine cause it’s not from the Vatican? Yet here we have another FRoman Catholic saying that it is and not only that, but it’s infallible.

A religion of expediency. Whatever works, say. Whatever feels right, do.

"And that supposition is shown to be invalid by the many anti-Scriptural beliefs and practices taught by Rome."

How about a recap of the anti-Scriptural utterings by you and your coven in recent threads? There have been dozens of OMGs and TFFs.

Mark I do not think Catholics understand the parable of the Prodigal... what does it say to you? How does that parable affirm the necessity of works?

Mark instead of throwing around insults at God .why not address the issues.. What tells me I am saved? Several things.. The word of God (God does not lie ), Jesus paid for all my sin, past present AND FUTURE , the witness of the Holy Spirit, a changed life.. a clear conscience, perseverance ..a desire to seek God in all things, a hatred of sin ... I desire only to please God and not men, a love of Gods word

1Jo 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

1Jo 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

1Jo 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

1Jo 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

1Jo 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Don't make the thread about me, NL. That's against the rules.

"A religion of expediency. Whatever works, say. Whatever feels right, do."

Thank you for recognizing the need for a Magisterium and a Communion of the Saints in which all believers are of a like mind, as opposed to the chaos within the Protestant world.

That being said, all men (and women) fall short of the Glory of God and no organization comprised of over a billion will ever be in perfect harmony and Communion. If you see or experience a lack of unity among Catholics it is a testament of our humanity, not our ungodliness. The deficiency is within us, not the Church.

Fortunately, we have a Sacraments for confession, contrition, indulgence, the forgiveness of sins and Communion to aid us on our never ending quest for Salvation.

I don't need to, you are doing a fine job of trying to do that it all by yourself. Besides, it doesn't matter what I do, you are going to lean on the abuse button anyway.

This is the same thing as saying that the Church is infallible in the matters of faith...The entire body of the faithful, anointed as they are by the Holy One,(111) cannot err in matters of belief.

Show us their infallibility, where they cannot err, by posting Scripture as Mary the co-redeemer.

Fortunately, we have a Sacraments for confession, contrition, indulgence, the forgiveness of sins and Communion to aid us on our never ending quest for Salvation.

ROTFLOL! "Never ending quest."

Wow, is that ever a revealing statement.

"And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin." -- Hebrews 10:11-18

Rome's daily ministrations are clearly anti-Scriptural; they presume to remove the sin which has already been accounted for by Christ.

Rome keeps its members fearful when Christ has already freed His flock from the penalty of sin. Apparently some men prefer the chains of the law to the liberty of conscience Christ provides.

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." -- John 8:36

Clearly, if Roman Catholics believe their salvation is a "never ending quest" they have not received the grace of God and the freedom by Christ to know the truth.

"All of which are useless in our salvation..."

Yes, because you do not avail yourself of them. However, they figure prominently in mine.

Now stop pretending like my salvation is important to you and insisting that yours is the only path to Salvation. I represent nothing more than another potential shrunken head for your Calvinist bragging belt and a further dilution of your guilt for abandoning your Church.

I don't "lean on the abuse button." It's foolish to blame others when your posts are the ones being deleted.

Please don't make this thread about me. It's against the rules. Discuss the issues, not individual FReepers.

Clearly, you will never understand that Catholics have all of that and more. Faith is not a written exercise testing rote memorization of Scripture. It is a practical exam testing whether you have understood and willingly complied with the Revealed Word. And for that I pity you.

lol, I put a sling hammock in the woods to watch the deer-— got the idea from avatar — hung it in the trees, got a mosquito screen, bring refreshments and voila! saw a wolf too

Watch for the Deer Ticks. I got Deer Tick Fever a few years ago and all I was doing was mowing my lawn.

I thought they were part of your QUEST for salvation .. works , works, works, works... Tts 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

I see lots of Catholics showing off their convert trophies here... when a man is saved it is a work of God, not men ... Zep 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee [is] mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing..

I don't recall ever hearing of the Catholic church renouncing the Inquisition. Did it ever do that?

Did it ever make restitution?

I don't think any of that is owed summarily, although there were some who were possibly condemned without good cause. I can think of Savonarola, for example.

Jan Hus and many thousands of others.

The Catechism however does condemn torture, and suggests praying both for the victims and the tormentors, as I quoted in 523.

The quote from the current Catechism is worthless insofar as the Inquisition and its' sorry record is concerned.

The Catholic Church is no longer a secular power. In fact it lost all pretense to secular power when the Papal Army was defeated in 1870.

Both faith and works are necessary.

If you insist on citing only St. Paul please save yourself the trouble of posting out of context Scriptural quotes. They are meaningless unless they accompany the Gospel citations they are intended to explain and teach.

Did you learn that Mormons were Protestant in that marvelous school you went to?

The one that didn't admit idiots? It'd be slim pickings here for them.

Are Mormons not Protestant? How are they less Protestant than, for example, the Churches / Disciples of Christ? How about the Salvation Army? Pentecostals? Jehovah's Witnesses? What makes any of them more Protestant than the Mormons? Or the Mormons less Protestant than say, Benny Hinn? Give us the benefit of your wisdom, oh Solomon.

Some idiot has stolen your screen name.

You have no idea what a Protestant is and I'm not about to educate you.

"Some idiot has stolen your screen name."

Can we consider that a voluntary confession?

"You have no idea" is an act of attempted mind reading. Why hasn't Dr. E chimed in with an unofficial reprimand and warning? She has no hesitation and compunction with respect to warning Catholics. Do you think this proves she really doesn't care about the rules after all?
