In Christ Alone lyrics
Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;
In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save
?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live
There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ
Why am I not surprised?
It continually amazes me what entertains Catholics.

I don’t want to intrude on your debate with metmom. However, I would like to elicit a point of information from you. Regarding the “certificate of authenticity,” of which you speak, who/what would be the certifier?
There are objective standards, and something called Bible scholarship. Just because you believe something is true is not an objective standard.
Therefore, if you claim that you know error when you see it...
And you know the absolute truth?
Now from someone who says that they don't even know if God exists, there is no way to make that determination ...
Apparently you think just because you believe something it must be true. It doesn't work that way. If you claim you know the absolute truth then prove it. BTW, I am still waiting for you to tell me what God is.
So which is it? Is there truth? Is there God? Is there truth without God? How do you know?
How do you know?
Do not pride yourself too much on your intellectual or philosophical prowess. It fails miserably. It's got holes in it a second grader can see through.
Oh, sure, that's very convincing/s.
You are displaying faith in your facts, that your facts are indeed facts, and faith in your philosophical abilities that they yield an accurate, objective, correct conclusion.
Sophism will get you nowhere.
The question still remains.... How can you call yourself a Christian or a Catholic or whatever it is you claim to be, when you aren't even sure that the object of that faith even exists?
I called myself a Christian? Where? How can I be a Christian and an agnostic?
Are you saying that you have faith in something (God) when you don't even know if He IS?
When did I say I have faith? I asked a simple question what is God and you have not answered me. is there a problem?
On the second thought, don't bother. If you can't keep the discussion on a theological level but must make it about me, then please stop posting to me. I am not interested in shooting the breeze. I have serious questions and I expect serious answers, not 2nd grade sophism.
Okay, then if you admit you don't know what God is, how can you say you don't believe in "our" God? How do you even know that "god" isn't the right one? On what do you base this? You said:
Not knowing if something exists is not the same as saying it doesn't exist, because saying it doens't exit means you know what it is and are denying its existence.
Yet you state you know "our" God is not the true one. Who is running circles? You are not being consistent or honest.
Care to point out any of my posts where I made "fire-breathing personal attacks"? No, really, I want to see what I said that made you think I was personally attacking someone in a fire-breathing way. I am not adverse to apologizing for stepping over the line, so tell where I have.
You are welcome to join in, if we can keep it theological/biblical and not let it drift into personal attacks because we may disagree.
I used the "certificate" to call attention to the fact that no one has it! Yet many seem to pretend they do.
When I speak of errors I speak of material errors, errors of translaioton, historical errors, geographical Eros, scientific errors, logical errors, Eros of language, tense, copyist errors, and other objective errors.
Sure, I can also disagree with someone's interpretation as a matter of opinion but not as a matter of fact, because neither I nor the other guy has the certificate of absolute truth, no matter how much seem to believe they do, unless they can produce it.
I think you were offended by getoffmylawn’s posts reviling Protestants, but I never saw you get offended when some of your coreligionsists used inflammatory language because I or soemoen else disagreed with them, and that seems very common here among the Portestants. Even on this page, third from the top, I am being told to get lost for. Come on. Let’s not have selective vision, boatbums.
So, where’s YOUR certificate of absolute truth that you used to discern error?
So, as you see it, are we all simply left with opinion ... of one or another flavor? Is there no such thing as truth? Which, if answered in the negative, would seem to lead to the corollary that Pontius Pilatus was the wisest of men.
Because what I hear about that God is no different than what I hear form the Jews, and the Muslims, and the Hindus, etc. tell about theirs. It's sounds like a fairytale, okay. It appeals to magic and things not encountered in the real world.
Besides, there is enough material evidence, lots of theological arguments, historical and philosophical arguments, as well as the existence of simile religions to cast doubt in the veracity of that God in my mind.
Try again.
For the record, you've been getting serious answers to the second grade questions you've been asking.
"I called myself a Christian? Where? How can I be a Christian and an agnostic? When did I say I have faith?
OK, so if you make no claim to being a Christian or having faith, then why do you get all bent out of shape when anyone else says it about you?
I asked a simple question what is God and you have not answered me.
God is. Ask a simple question, get a simple answer, which you've been given many times. It's not our fault you keep rejecting it.
is there a problem?"
Not on my end. You got your answer. If that's not good enough, the problem is on your end.
Open forums do not require agreement with the topic.
Then open your eyes.
Even on this page, third from the top, I am being told to get lost for.
That's funny coming from someone who said in post 3,612 "This is an open forum, not a caucus, and if you can't handle the heat in the kitchen, leave. "
Lets not have selective vision, boatbums kosta50.
I aksed what. DO you know the difference? But since you mades the statement of fact, now prove it.
Another ‘right on’ post!
So....
What is the god of your creation?
On what basis?
What is it going to do for you?
What makes it a better choice than any other god?
Why should any of us accept it?
It's like watching little children: get offended real easy; can be real nasty; lack good manners; have comprehension problems; throw insults and act as if the world ended if they didn't get their way; persistently taunt and pick on people; and believe in magic.
My God is a *who* not a *what*. He's a being, not a thing.
Is your god a thing?
However, I'll let God do the talking. I'll ask Him to prove Himself to you. He can present His case better than I.
BTW, still waiting for responses to my other questions.
