In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

1200 years of bonus time to roast evil catholics! It would be completely laffable that these people have the nerve to associate themselves with Christ if it weren't so ugly.

This is why my skin crawls when the folks refer to the Bahble Cults as 'Christians'. Could there be a bigger lie? Just slap the Koran on the end of the Bible, and these folks all have mindset of Muslims.

Ignorance is one thing, everyone is until informed, but deliberate obtuseness is quite another. When someone calls God’s inspired word “nonsense” because they don’t know or don’t want to know what a word means then to my mind the saying of Jesus about casting pearls before swine seems particularly appropriate.

After a point I see no reason to engage such persons and won’t.

If Jesus didn’t rise from the dead, what do you believe in?

The Catholic church, Rome and Orthodox, say he did. Are you telling me that they’re wrong?

You know, that you folks would endow your god with the attributes of the “gods” my distant ancestors worshiped is an irony beyond compare.

Is that so? Let me tell you a story:

1 Samuel 5
"1 After the Philistines had captured the ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. 2 Then they carried the ark into Dagon’s temple and set it beside Dagon. 3 When the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the LORD! They took Dagon and put him back in his place. 4 But the following morning when they rose, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the LORD! His head and hands had been broken off and were lying on the threshold; only his body remained. 5 That is why to this day neither the priests of Dagon nor any others who enter Dagon’s temple at Ashdod step on the threshold. 6 The LORD’s hand was heavy on the people of Ashdod and its vicinity; he brought devastation on them and afflicted them with tumors. 7 When the people of Ashdod saw what was happening, they said, “The ark of the god of Israel must not stay here with us, because his hand is heavy on us and on Dagon our god.” 8 So they called together all the rulers of the Philistines and asked them, “What shall we do with the ark of the god of Israel?” They answered, “Have the ark of the god of Israel moved to Gath.” So they moved the ark of the God of Israel. 9 But after they had moved it, the LORD’s hand was against that city, throwing it into a great panic. He afflicted the people of the city, both young and old, with an outbreak of tumors. 10 So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. As the ark of God was entering Ekron, the people of Ekron cried out, “They have brought the ark of the god of Israel around to us to kill us and our people.” 11 So they called together all the rulers of the Philistines and said, “Send the ark of the god of Israel away; let it go back to its own place, or it will kill us and our people.” For death had filled the city with panic; God’s hand was very heavy on it. 12 Those who did not die were afflicted with tumors, and the outcry of the city went up to heaven."

Just in case you didn't know this, my God is the one represented by the ark.

kosta50:”They talk? Really? What language do they speak?”

Probably whatever one they hear.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talking_bird

“Talking birds are birds that can mimic human speech. Talking birds have varying degrees of intelligence and communication capabilities: some, like the crow, a highly intelligent bird, are only able to mimic a few words and phrases, whilst some budgerigars have been observed to have a vocabulary of almost two thousand words. The Hill Myna is a commonly kept pet, well known for its talking ability – whilst its relative, the European Starling, is also adept at mimicry.[1]”

So, God is not in charge or control?

I thought you said you didn't believe in God. Or was it that you didn't believe God was knowable? I forget, which is it? The point is I understand that no matter what my answer is to your question, you will probably find something with which to disagree and we will carry on with more post after post. I'd rather not spend my time being a virtual cat toy.

I am among the countless millions who found it necessary to leave the corrupted Catholic Church because of the attention and love of Scripture.

My husband, also an ex-RC who fled the papacy at 18, says anyone who remains under the thumb of Rome reveals a lack of grace.

Seems about right. From darkness to light.

When someone calls God’s inspired word “nonsense” because they don’t know or don’t want to know what a word means.

Inspired word of God? How obtuse does one have to be to make such a statement and have exactly zero, zilch evidence that it is the true? But, hey, you are not alone; there are 1.2 billion Muslims in this world who will tell you that their little green book is (also) inspred word of God...not to mention the LDS and their Book of Mormon...

The only "proof" (LOL) is to say it's in the Bible. So the Bible says it's true and it must be true because it's in the Bible! Gee...and your tag line says what?

Really? Here's mine:

Oh, really? Does Jesus have wings now? Regardless, my God is the only, true God. He says his name is "I AM" - YAHWEH or JEHOVAH in the Hebrew. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He is Almighty, all-holy, all-knowing and all-powerful. He does not dwell in temples made by hands nor pretty pictures either. And he humbled himself and became a man (Jesus, just in case you were wondering). He lived a perfectly sinless and holy life and gave that life upon a cruel cross after allowing sinful men to unjustly judge him, strip him, beat him, scourge him, spit on him and mock him. He allowed them to jam a crown made of thorns upon his head and to nail his hands and feet to a rough wooden cross to suffer what was, at the time, the cruelest and most horrible form of execution. He hung there for hours struggling for every breath and, even though at any moment he could call on ten thousand angels to release him and kill every one of his tormentors, he chose instead to hang there and suffer and endure the shame.

When he finally died and they took him down from his torture device, he was wrapped in burial clothes and laid in a tomb hewn out of rock. A great stone was rolled in front of the opening and a legion of Roman guards were stationed before it. On the third day the guards were terrified when a great light shown and the stone rolled away. The big, strong, fearless and mighty soldiers ran in terror like little boys. No tomb could keep him. He rose again as he said he would.

This same man named Jesus, who was Almighty God incarnate did all this so that all our sins would be paid in full. When he said, "It is finished." he meant that payment for sin was complete. He died in our place, for us, so that his righteousness covered us. He paid the penalty for sin that we could not do for ourselves. And he endured it all because of love. " For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.".

I do not enjoy playing games when it comes to who I trust and believe in. He is my savior, my redeemer, my hope, my life, my all and all. I love him and strive every day of my life to serve him and honor him out of gratitude for his amazing grace. No manmade idol or god can ever take his place, I am his alone.

Some people will give their social security number over the phone to a perfect stranger. Not me. Some people require no proof to believe a fantastic tale; but I do.

The Catholic church, Rome and Orthodox, say he did. Are you telling me that they’re wrong?

The whole Catholic Church, indeed Christian faith, is a wonderful sanctuary for the souls, but lacks proof.

Pulling at straws, now, aren't you? :) Too band the Bible authors didn't know that. They imagined talking snakes and donkeys, when in fact they should have been birds...or maybe bats, since they couldn't tell the difference.

And, unlike biblical talking animals, who spoke intelligently, like humans and angels, the birds' "speech" is called mimicry. Hint for nonsense. That means they "talk" without saying anything...like some people I know.

I thought you said you didn't believe in God

I never said that. I said I didn't know what God is. I can't believe in something unless I know what it is.

Or was it that you didn't believe God was knowable?

If there is God, then he will also be unknowable to a large extent. What can I say, my former Orthodox mindset is still operating. :)

The point is I understand that no matter what my answer is to your question, you will probably find something with which to disagree and we will carry on with more post after post. I'd rather not spend my time being a virtual cat toy.

That's because it sounds like just want to give me a "shut up" answer, rather than defend your position. I asked you a simple question "So, God is not in charge?"

That's no different than saying "how many states are part of the Union?" If you know the answer it is a straight answer, and if you really know what you are talking about rather than just making up things as you go along, then you should rest assured that I won't have a followup question, since 50 states is 50 states, and there is nothing else. End of discussion. I could ask what about Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico, which also has a straight and definitive answer.

But for people who claim to be certain, and know what they believe in, the answers I get paint a different picture.

> “Mary worship is not part of our religion”

.
Really? - You don’t pray to her? - You don’t say “Hail Marys?”

.
“We don’t have pagan seances”

.
You mean the transsubstantiation has been abandoned?

.
> “we don’t pray to mortal men”

.
You’ve given up praying to “saints?”

Excuse me, but I don’t believe you.

There is so much more (Old Testament) theology in that icon I can't even begin to tell you.

Well I admit the first part was sorta flippant. The “Angel of the Lord” appearances spoken of in the OT were certainly visitations of Jesus himself. There is a word for it, “theophany”. If the icon was attempting to communicate that then, ok, I see it. But Jesus is NOT a created being like an angel - I think the LDS got some of their screwy doctrine about Jesus and Lucifer being brothers from that idea.
