I thought you said you didn't believe in God

I never said that. I said I didn't know what God is. I can't believe in something unless I know what it is.

Or was it that you didn't believe God was knowable?

If there is God, then he will also be unknowable to a large extent. What can I say, my former Orthodox mindset is still operating. :)

The point is I understand that no matter what my answer is to your question, you will probably find something with which to disagree and we will carry on with more post after post. I'd rather not spend my time being a virtual cat toy.

That's because it sounds like just want to give me a "shut up" answer, rather than defend your position. I asked you a simple question "So, God is not in charge?"

That's no different than saying "how many states are part of the Union?" If you know the answer it is a straight answer, and if you really know what you are talking about rather than just making up things as you go along, then you should rest assured that I won't have a followup question, since 50 states is 50 states, and there is nothing else. End of discussion. I could ask what about Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico, which also has a straight and definitive answer.

But for people who claim to be certain, and know what they believe in, the answers I get paint a different picture.

So, like I thought, you don't believe in God.

That's because it sounds like just want to give me a "shut up" answer, rather than defend your position. I asked you a simple question "So, God is not in charge?"

Ok, I'll give it a try. God is in charge and not one thing happens that he does not already know it and has allowed it to happen. He is able to work all things according to his will and plan. Even the bad stuff, the evil stuff, the gross stuff and the horrible stuff.

Now, the $64k question is why does God allow the evil to exist in the world? No matter what answer I give it will not satisfy everyone but if we don't accept that some things we cannot grasp with our fallible, finite minds then it will end up sounding like a non-answer.

By your own words, you are saying you don't believe in God.

What are you?
