What Mormon Missionaries WON'T Tell You
Contender Ministries [False Religions] ^ | unknown | anonymous

Posted on 10/15/2010 5:39:02 PM PDT by delacoert

Most of us have had a Mormon Missionary knock at our door.  If you have ever invited them in and listened to a presentation of their beliefs, you probably found most but not all of what they said very similar to those beliefs held by Christians.  However, while trying to convince you that your Church is wrong and the Mormon Church is right, there are several points they intentionally leave out.  Below is a list of Mormon beliefs the missionaries will be reluctant to tell you about:

They will be reluctant to tell you that the God they worship was not always God.

"We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity.  I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see."  (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 345)

They will be reluctant to tell you that they believe Jesus Christ is the spirit brother of Satan:

"The appointment of Jesus to be the Savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God.  He was called Lucifer, son of the morning.  Haughty, ambitious, and covetous of power and glory, this spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Savior of mankind."  (Milton R. Hunter, Gospel Through the Ages, pg.15)

They will be reluctant to tell you that, according to Mormonism, Jesus Christ was a polygamist.

"I discover that some of the Eastern papers represent me as a great blasphemer, because I said, in my lecture on Marriage, at our last Conference, that Jesus Christ was married at Cana of Galilee, that Mary, Martha, and others were his wives, and that he begat children."  (Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses 2:210)

The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age.  A belief in the doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers.  We might almost think they were 'Mormons'" (Jedediah M. Grant, Journal of Discourses, 1:346)

They will be reluctant to tell you that for at least half a century church leaders were teaching that Adam was really God and the only God with whom we have to do.

"Now hear it, O inhabitants of the earth, Jew and Gentile, Saint and sinner!  When our father Adam came into the garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him.  He helped to make and organize this world.  He is Michael, the Archangel, the Ancient of Days! about whom holy men have written and spoken--He is our Father, and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do."  (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 1:50)

"I have learned by experience that there is but one God that pertains to this people and he is the god that pertains to this earth--The first man.  That first man sent his own son to redeem the world..."(Heber C. Kimball, Journal of Discourses 4:1)

They will be reluctant to tell you that Brigham Young, who held the office of President of the Mormon church longer than any other man, taught that men must practice polygamy in order to become Gods.

"The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy."  (Journal of Discourses 11:269)

They will be reluctant to tell you that the book of Mormon fails to contain any Mormon doctrine

Many portions of this Mormon Scripture even contradicts Mormon theology.

They will be reluctant to tell you about their secret temple ceremonies which, until April 1990, portrayed Christian ministers as hirelings of Satan.  Nor will they tell you about the sacred underwear they are wearing which, they believe, actually protects them.

They will be reluctant to tell you that Mormon leaders have taught that Jesus was conceived by way of a sexual relationship between God and Mary.

"..how are children begotten?  I answer just as Jesus Christ was begotten of his father.  The difference between Jesus Christ and other men is this:  Our fathers in the flesh are mortal men, who are subject unto death: but the Father of Jesus Christ in the flesh is the god of Heaven" (Joseph F. Smith, Family Home Evening Manual, 1972, pg. 125)

They will be reluctant to tell you that they believe the bible has been corrupted throughout the centuries and cannot be trusted fully by itself.

"I believe the Bible as it read when it came from the pen of the original writers.  Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph smith, pg.327)

"But the Bible has been robbed of its plainness; many sacred books having been lost, others rejected by the Romish Church, and what few we have left, were copied and recopied so many times, that it is admitted that almost every verse has been corrupted and mutilated to that degree that any two of them read alike." (Orson Pratt, The Seer, pg.213)

They will be reluctant to tell you that the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants, which they claim to be both sacred and without error, contradict each other many times.

For example, in the Book of Mormon, God called David and Solomon's act of polygamy an abomination, whereas in the Doctrine and Covenants He claims to justify it.  Jacob 2:24 in the Book of Mormon says, "Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord."  Section 132:1 in the Doctrine and Covenants, however, states: "Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you my servant Joseph, that inasmuch as you have inquired of my hand to know and understand wherein I, the Lord, justified my servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as also Moses, David and Solomon, my servants, as touching the principle and doctrine of their having many wives and concubines."

They will be reluctant to tell you that they use Christian terms with Mormon meanings.

For example, a Mormon would probably agree with you that a person must be born again.  To the Mormon, however, "born again" is a process which begins with water baptism.  Another example are the words "salvation" and exaltation," which are synonymous in the Christian's mind.  However, general salvation to the Mormon merely means the resurrection which everyone in the world will receive at death.  Exaltation, or individual salvation, is the reward earned by the Mormon by following the laws of the Moron church.  "Eternal Life" to the Mormon means Godhood.  Regarding the word "scriptures," the Christian thinks of the Holy Bible while the Mormon could be thinking of not only the Bible but the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price as well.

They won't want to tell you that in order to gain entrance into the highest form of Mormon heaven, the Celestial kingdom, you must accept Joseph Smith, Jr. as a prophet of god.  Faith in Jesus alone, Mormonism teaches, will force you to spend eternity in a lower form of heaven.

Tenth LDS President Joseph Fielding Smith stated in his book, doctrines of Salvation, that there is "No salvation without accepting Joseph Smith.  The word "salvation," used in this context, must really mean "exaltation" because former Mormon apostle Bruce R. McConkie stated in his book Mormon Doctrine that general salvation is given to everyone regardless of belief.  Personal salvation or exaltation to the highest form of Mormon heaven comes only by accepting Joseph Smith as a prophet of god and by following the laws of the LDS church.

They will be reluctant to tell you that their founder, Joseph Smith, Jr., made many false prophecies which, according to the Bible, would classify him as a false prophet rather than a true prophet of God.

For instance, in 1835 Smith claimed that the Lord would again come in just 56 years.  We would gather from this "prophecy" that Jesus Christ would again come to earth on or before 1891; no doubt Joseph Smith was incorrect (History of the church 2:182).  In 1832 Joseph Smith claimed he had a revelation concerning the building of a temple in Independence, Missouri.  According to section 84, verses 4 and 5, of the Doctrine and Covenants, he stated this "temple shall be reared in this generation.  For verily this generation shall not pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord, and a cloud shall rest upon it..."  to this day the spot consecrated by Smith fails to be the sight of a great temple, but instead is covered with a well-kept lawn.  In fact, the Mormon church does not even own the land.

The fruit of false doctrine is spiritual death. Mormons have a false jesus, a 'doctrines of men' jesus, fashioned by Mormon leadership to support the heresy of polygamy, as shown in post #743. The following is what a Christian is instructed, by Jesus The Christ, not the jesus of Mormonism:

Matthew 24:23&24 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Mark 13:21&22 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:
For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

When a Mormon seeks to share the jesus exposed in post #743, refer to the scripture teaching of The Jesus of the Bible. Salvation cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God; Not the lying word of a false peepstone predator of married women; Not the false teachers such as quoted above teaching the Mormon jesus as polygamist, a sired spirit child of a man who 'gained the attributes of godhood' and was appointed to be the god of the earth.

Stourme, read what John 1 has to say about the light of men ... that Light is not a polygamist, not the created son of a promoted-by-council-of-gods god among myriad gods.

Spiritual fruit is discerned by The Spirit, not paraded in prideful fashion. You can read what the fruit of the spirit is.

Mormon spiritual fruit is rotten, bringing spiritual death to those trapped in the cult. Outward behavior may be deemed goodness, but the heart is read in Truth by the Holy One.

A good Hindu is as good, outwardly, as any good Mormon. But reading outward behavior and assuming inward Life is a ruse. You should know that since you keep trying to get readers to see the outward behavior and avoid the spiritual rot at the heart of Mormon doctrines.

Remember the teaching of the fig tree, which had beautiful leafy prominence, a grand outward show, but within which Jesus found no fruit. Mormonism is all about the beautiful leafy show, but seeking within the leafy prominence reveals no spiritual fruit. [By the way, a study of figs as analogous to spiritual life is an interesting and difficult study in The Bible. Try it sometime.]

Norm, we contend with you because we love you. We have studied the religion to which you belong, because it claims to be 'rsstored christianity'. When stood up next to what the Bible teaches, Mormonism restores legalism, works, slavery. Can you be good enough to be worthy of Christ's atonement? Can you produce fruit of the Spirit without His Spirit wihtin you? ... Look carefully at the works Mormons hold up as proof of their Christianity. On the one hand there is obedience to the ten commandments ... and not one Momron can keep all of the law without failure. On the other hand there are neighborhood works, whether the community neighborhood or the household neighborhood. If your spousewere called to testify truthfully as to your approaching perfection in these works, you know as well as I you would be found wanting.

Decades ago, while my family was still young, my son under ten, a couple of great young men came to our door with the Book of Mormon and the canned flipchart presentation.

They did a good job of presenting their message, a message which claimed the Bible was excellent for Life, as far as it is translated correctly. STRIKE ONE, trying to generate doubt about the Bible is not a Christian behavior.

They did a good job of presenting the Book of Mormon as another testament of Jesus Christ, a testament which had remained hidden while the whole world sank into apostasy. STRIKE TWO, God promised the opposite of what the youngmen had been told to say!

These young men wanted to leave us with a copy of the Book of Mormon, and a 'business card' which would allow us to call them or someone else in the local LDS congregation if we had further questions, after we prayed to ask God if the Book of Mormon is true. STRIKE THREE, that is an appeal to a familiar spirit to give a sign, a sign over something that God had kept hidden for millenia while Christ's work sank into total apostasy?

One of the young men was from the family of Vemeers, from Canada, who invented the vermeer system of crop management, hay bailing, etc. These youngmen were completely sincere ... and completely wrong. We saw them on several occasions, because whenever they were in the neighborhood, they came by--at our sincere invitation--to get a drink of water (Pleasant Grove, Alabama is very hot and humid in the summer) or eat a piece of cake or pie my excellent baking wife would offer. They offered to help folks in the neighborhood who might use help with groceries or yard work. They were fine young men, exemplary youngmen. And they were pushing a religion that is absolutely false as proveable by the many contradictions to the Bible.

Only by sowing seeds of doubt could these youngmen gain an audience and perhaps a convert. When someone tells me they try to bring forth the fruit mentioned in Galatians, I immediately wonder if they realize that for these behaviors to be fruit of the Spirit, His Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus, The Spirit of God must be at work generating these behaviors else they are not fruit of The spirit they are just dead works, done for the pride in accomplishment.

Paul makes a very interesting notion plain when he taught that 'not by works of righteousness which we have done, but by the power of His Spirit has He saved us.' Paul was writing to Christians, people he would tell you were already saved, so they could do works of righteousness because God's Spirit was in them to generate Spirit fruits. What APul was also saying is, you are saved therefore you can do the works, you are not saved because you do the works to earn the salvation.

For while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, not after we were sinners turned about doing good works. We cannot do works of righteousness UNTIL there is righteousness in us. You cannot generate righteousness by your works. Mormonism teaches this upside down and backwards.

Remember what Jesuss aid of those who come to him pleading of the astonishing works they did in his name, but they had not His Spirit in them ...

You have a fascinating way of covering your eyes and ears so the truth will not get into that darkness you prefer. But, alas, you will not deter those who have been sent to warm you of destruction. Perhaps, if you ever read one of the posts asking you to think about the massive contradictions in Mormonism and the bordering on obscene description of the jesus of Mormonism, you will accidentally open your eyes and light will stream in, even for an instant.

For lurkers—because Norm has assured us he not only doesn’t read what is posted if it opposes his cult, he refuses to read a word of it lest he awaken to the heresies of Mormonism—for lurkers like soloson who claims Roman Catholicism, below are the characteristics of the Mormon jesus. See if these characteristics are the ones which fit the Jesus of the Bible, the Jesus you would trust as Svior of your immortal soul:

Mormons believe Jesus was married at the marriage feast in Cana where He changed water into wine

Mormons believe that the Momron jesus was married to more than one woman

The Mormon jesus was persecuted because he was a polygamist.

The Mormon jesus came into existence when his father in heaven created him along with his brothers and sisters, as a spirit being who was not yet a god.

Momrons believe Lucifer was one of the Mormon jesus’s brothers, before the Mormon jesus became a man and later a god.

The Mormon jesus is one individual god in a troika of gods which includes the Mormon jesus’s father—who was once a man and inhabits a body of flesh and bones and through goodness gained the attributes of godhood when he was selected by a council of gods to be the god of earth—and the never to receive a fleshly body holy spirit.

The Mormon jesus can save you, after all that you can do to be worthy of the grace of the Mormon godhead—which is, again, a troika of three gods working for a common purpose.

Mormons believe their jesus can save a person who rejected Him while in their body, by accepting a proxy baptism for them performed in a Mormon Temple by a Temple worthy Mormon.

The Mormon jesus gained the attributes of godhood through the life he lived in the flesh, which gained for that jesus exaltation.

___________________________________________________________

Every one of that list of the Mormon jesus characteristics is based upon the teachings from Mormon leaders who are attested as true by Mormons, for if they do not swear they attest to these teachers’ characterizations then they have no temple recommend!

When a Mormon (like Normandy or Resty or Saundra Duffy or Killer medic or Paragon Defender or Stourme or Delphi User or misses bush or lady lawyer) accuses me or any other ‘Flying Inman’ who opposes those heresies of lying about their religious beliefs, we post the actual quotes of the teachers who said these things about the jesus Mormons are trusting to save them after all that they can do. And when one of these comes to make a vague accusation because of this post, I will list the quotes as they have been listed throughout this thread and others for days now.

Undecided readers,

As an ex Mormon-basher, I invite everyone to read all of the multitude of Anti-Mormon attack threads and/or comments on this board and then do some research on your own from more than one side of the “issues”.

Is what all these Mormon attack squad people parrot day in and and day out on these boards true? Don’t take their word for it. Find out for yourself. Put forth some effort. You do want the truth right? Prove it.

Read both sides! Talk to both sides! Not just mine. Not just theirs. Make up your own mind.

Here’s a few links to get your started from a different viewpoint. The vast majority of the issues brought up can be found and addressed at http://www.fairlds.org/ I have found but here’s more.

Oh really? And which of the quotes from your founders and teachers posted in @755 would you like to refute. I know, I know, you cannot waste your time substantiating your specious claims, just try to sow doubt of the authenticity. Here's the money quptes again, just for you, PD. Have you read any of them?

And heeeeere's the proof quotes:

"Jesus was the bridegroom at the marriage of Cana of Galilee...We say it was Jesus Christ who was married, to be brought into relation whereby he could see his seed [children] before he was crucified (Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses, vol. 2, p. 82).

"There was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and on a careful reading of that transaction, it will be discovered that non less a person that Jesus Christ was married on that occasion. If he was never married, his intimacy with Mary and Martha an the other Mary also whom Jesus loved, must have been highly unbecoming and improper to say the best of it." (Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, p. 259).

"In the Church councils, it was spoken of: "Joseph F. Smith_ He spoke upon the marriage in Cana of Galilee. He thought Jesus was the bridegroom and Mary and Martha the brides."(Journal of Wilford Woodruff, July 22, 1883).

"The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age. A belief in doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers. We might almost think they were Mormons (Jedediah Grant, Journal of Discourses, vol. 1, p. 346).

"One thing is certain, that there were several holy women that great loved Jesus, such as Mary and Martha her sister, and Mary Magdalene; and Jesus greatly loved them and associated with the much; and when he arose from the dead, instead of first showing himself to his chosen witnesses, the Apostles, He appeared first to these women, or at least to one of them--namely, Mary Magdalene. Now, it would be very natural for a husband in the resurrection to appear first to his own dear wives, and afterwards show himself to his other friends. If all the acts of Jesus were written, we no doubt should learn that these beloved women were his wives." (Orson Pratt, The Seer, p. 159)

And just for you, PD, here's more on the heretical teachings at the heart of Mormonism. It might do you good to read a few and see if these represent what you too believe:

In the very beginning the Bible shows there is a plurality of Gods beyond the power of refutation. It is a great subject I am dwelling on. The word Eloheim ought to be in the plural all the way through--Gods. The heads of the Gods appointed ONE God for us... (Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 372)

Whatever "time frame" or eternity is chosen, only ONE GOD was chosen by a plurality of gods, according to Joseph Smith.

The convolutions/confusions are rife in Mormonism. Despite the above teaching, LDS leader, Bruce McConkie, taught that lds worship 3 gods: "Three separate personages-Father, Son and holy Ghost- comprise the Godhead…these three are the only Gods we worship."(Mormon Doctrine 1966 ed. P.576-577).

I will go back to the beginning, before the world was, to show what kind of a being God is. What sort of a being was God in the beginning? Open your ears and hear, all ye ends of the earth; for I am going to prove it to you by the Bible, and to tell you the designs of God in relation to the human race, and why he interferes with the affairs of man. God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted Man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens. That is the great secret. (Joseph Smith, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p. 3, 1844)

Whatever is taken by Smith as the ’beginning’, the Alpha point, Smith says god was a man. That he "was once as we are now."

“I learned a testimony concerning Abraham, and he reasoned concerning the Gods of heaven. '...Intelligences exist one above another, so that there is no end to them.' If Abraham reasoned thus--If Jesus Christ was the Son of God, and John discovered that God the Father of Jesus Christ had a Father, you may suppose that He had a Father also. Where was there ever a son without a father? And where was there ever a father without first being a son? Whenever did a tree or anything spring into existence without a progenitor? And everything comes in this way. Paul says that which is earthly is in the likeness of that which is heavenly. Hence if Jesus had a Father, can we not believe that He had a Father also? I despise the idea of being scared to death at such a doctrine, for the Bible is full of it. I want you to pay particular attention to what I am saying. Jesus said that the Father wrought precisely in the same way as His Father had done before Him. As the Father had done before? He laid down His life, and took it up the same as His Father had done before. (Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 373)

What's being said here? … The teaching of infinite regression of gods! Smith is claiming that Jesus had a grandpa and great-grandpa! THAT is polytheism.

Finally, Smith says Heavenly Father laid down his life as a redeemer on another world. Brigham Young added that “every earth has its redeemer, and every earth has its tempter”. (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 14, p. 71, 1870)

Dear Mormons who may be reading this thread,

If you peruse the Free Republic religion forums you will notice a pattern. There’s a group of Christians who spend a great deal of time posting from Official Mormon Sources - both the Book of Mormon as well as Mormon Prophets and Church materials.

You will also notice that many of these Christians are former Mormons who have left Mormonism and come to know the real Jesus Christ and His Gospel of Grace.

They have a passion to reach other Mormons to share what they learned about Salvation by grace and apart from human works.

Of course, they are attacked regularly by a very small group of Mormons who have zeal, but no knowledge beyond what the Mormon Church has told them. They also continually have a difficult time identifying any:

… Facts
… Evidence
… Logical support - that any reasonable person could understand that would validate their Mormon claims.

Consistently, this small group of Mormon posters are forced to face that their faith is based on little more than feelings that cannot be verified.

People deserve more than feelings.

The best they have been able to do is construct ad hominem attacks against Christians, which is always a sign that they have no facts, evidence of logical arguments. You have certainly witnessed this here many times as you read these threads, so I am not telling you anything you haven’t seen with your own eyes.

After reading both sides on this thread and others, you may very well be wondering about what you were taught when you joined the LDS church.

You also may be wondering how to resolve the lack of facts, evidence and illogical nature of Mormon claims. Many have approached those of us who are Christians asking where to find out more and some, even, to ask how to leave the Church and learn more about Christ’s Gospel of Grace.

Here are a few links to get you started in your quest to know the Biblical Christ.

What Mormon Missionaries WON’T Tell You

[Stourme examines]

Well let's just have a look see at this list you have here.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that they believe your Church is wrong, your Christian creeds are abomination to God, and you pastor or Priest is a hireling of Satan.

Wrong. When I was a missionary my favorite lesson was on the Great Apostasy of the early christian church. Far as I know it's still taught.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that there is salvation only in their church - all others are wrong.

Wrong. Salvation is through Jesus Christ. The Church is the vehicle Christ uses to prepare His people. We let the those being taught make their own conclusions.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that those who have been through their temples are wearing secret underwear to protect themselves from “evil”. This “evil” includes non - Mormons like you.

Really wrong. Our garments are a sign of our faith. Catholic priests wear a collar. Other christians wear crosses and fish. Other ministers were robes, uniforms, and hats. Why is it some how devious for me to wear a symbol of my faith? To say they protect us against "non - Mormons" is ... an error.(To put it kindly)...

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU about their secret temple rites at all. If they did, you would spot them as non Christians immediately.

Wrong. Sacred to us. Not secret. The missionaries do discuss the temple. Or they will do like I did and say "Oh Cool! Temples are a true sign of Christianity!"

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that they think “familiar spirits” are good, and that their Book of Mormon has a “familiar spirit”. Leviticus 19:31 says familiar spirits defile one, and are to be avoided at all costs.

Wrong. Is the Holy Ghost not a spirit. If the Holy Ghost is not familiar to you, then I suggest a change is in order. All Christians know of angels. All Christians know of the Holy Ghost. To say all familiar spirits are evil is...well...unchristian. The missionaries teach about the Holy Ghost.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that women receive salvation only through their Mormon husbands, and must remain pregnant for all eternity.

Laughably Wrong. The missionaries will tell you that salvation is through Jesus Christ which completely true. "and must remain pregnant for all eternity." This is not Mormon doctrine. It's not in the doctrine and covenants of the Church. I can only guess the source of this is an anti-Mormon website that made it up.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that they intend to be gods themselves some day, and are helping to earn their exaltation to godhood by talking to you.

Wrong. Yes they will. And Jesus requires that we follow His commandments, which includes spreading His gospel. Romans 8 -"..joint-heirs with Christ". That means equal to and not less than the reward Christ got.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that they intend to have many wives in heaven, carrying on multiple sex relations throughout eternity, until they have enough children to populate their own earth, so they can be “heavenly father” over their own planet!

True. The missionaries won't tell you this because we don't believe this. God has never revealed how He creates His children. We do not know. So to claim the we believe that we have sex in heaven is patently false.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that you were once a spirit - child of their heavenly father, and one of his numerous wives before you were born on earth.

Half truth. One of the first things the missionaries teach is that we are/were a spirit child of our heavenly father.  One of the most beautiful truths revealed by God to man. The wives thing... well that's not listed in the Doctrines and Covenants of the Church. So no, the missionaries won't speculate and tell you things that aren't official doctrine.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that the mormon virgin Mary really wasn’t a virgin at all but had sex relations with their heavenly father to produce the Mormon version of Jesus Christ

Ugly Wrong. The missionaries won't tell you this because this is not official Church doctrine. God has never revealed the actual process by which Mary became pregnant. All we know is the word "begotten" is used. The word "begat" is used to describe a parent child relationship. As in Gen 4:18 Irad begat Mehujael

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that they believe the mormon jesus had at least three wives and children while he was on this earth.

True. The missionaries won't tell you this. Because we don't believe this. I've never even heard it before.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that the “heavenly father” they ask you to pray to with them, is really an exalted man that lives on a planet near the star base Kolob, and is not the Heavenly Father of the Bible at all.

Half truth. He very much is the Heavenly Father of the Bible. I doubt God lives on a "star base" as you put it. God is real and He does live in a place. I'm sure it has a name for those that are there. It maybe Kolob. It may be something else.

John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

So... Jesus is only doing what He has seen His Father do first.... Lets see...Jesus was born of a virgin, grew up, taught in the temple, administered to the sick, suffered for the sins of the world, died on a cross, and resurrected.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that the mormon jesus was really Lucifer’s brother in the spirit world, and it was only due to a “heavenly council” vote that Jesus became our redeemer instead of Satan!!

Wrong. The missionaries teach the truth of what happened in the pre-earth life. It was not a vote. Jesus was chosen from the beginning. Lucifer tried to interject himself and was turned down. This lead to the war in heaven.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that there are over one hundred divisions in Mormonism. They conveniently “forget” this while criticizing the many denominations within the body of Christ

Logical Fallacy. We don't teach the irrelevant. We do teach that all other doctrines are an abomination in the sight of God. This includes any apostate groups from our own Church.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that all their so- called scriptures such as the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, Doctrine and Covenants, and even their official “Mormon Doctrine” statements contradict each other on MAJOR doctrinal points. The King James Bible is likewise contradicted.

Logical Fallacy. We don't teach it because we don't believe it. Why would our missionaries teach anti-Mormon propaganda? There are no contradictions. Only the opinions of those outside our Church that view our scripture through their own limited prism in order to claim contradictions.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that the reason the Book of Mormon has no maps is because there is not one scrap of archaeological evidence to support it!

Wrong and Logical Fallacy. Cause and effect. You are woefully uninformed on the matter. This is just ... well... bad logic. First we are not sign seekers. We have faith instead. Archaeological evidence, I'll let the experts speak. Archaeological evidence is just not something Mormons really care about. There is no evidence for instance that there were ever Israelites in Egypt. But we have faith that the story of Moses is true.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that the state of Utah, which is predominately Mormon, has a higher than the national average of wife-beating, child abuse, and teenage suicide.

Bizarre. Just...Bizarre... and wrong. And we won't tell you about the price of rice in China either. I didn't know "wife-beating" was a tracked statistic in the 21st century. Wife-beating. /rolleyes. But the truth is Utah ranks 44th in the nation for violent crime. 45th if the District of Columbia were counted as a state. Salt Lake City is only about 40% LDS or less. I have no idea why would anyone expect LDS missionaries to talk about national crime statistics... bizarre.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that their prophet Joseph Smith was heavily involved in the occult when he founded Mormonism.

Wrong. This is has been spread around by anti-Mormons based on the tales by 19th century anti-Mormons. But strangely absent from the personal journals of people that actually knew the man.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that that they encourage visitations from dead relatives from the “spirit world”, a practice forbidden in the Bible. (Deuteronomy 18:10-12.)

Wrong. What a strange description this is. We do encourage communication with our Father in Heaven. It's called prayer. And yes we do believe in Angels. And we do believe God has the power to send Angels to minister to us.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that there are many accounts of Joseph Smith’s first vision besides the one they present to you, and all are different

True. We don't bother with the irrelevant. We will give the over view that Joseph Smith actually did see God.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that their secret temple oaths are based on the Scottish Rite Masons.

True. We won't tell you that because it's not true nor is that what we believe. We really don't care if anti-Mormons scour the earth looking for something they can point a finger at and draw their conclusions. Check out the points above to see their accuracy so far.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that before 1978 they considered the Negro race inferior, and even one drop of Negro blood prevented a person from entering their priesthood.

True. Of course the anti-Mormons won't tell you that God has always discriminated on who received the priesthood. In olden days it was reserved for the Levites. And Jesus only ordained those of Hebrew decent. He never taught or included the Gentiles. But in His own due time and for His reasons He later included the gentiles. It fits the pattern of what He did in the latter-days. He included the blacks when He was ready. It fits the pattern of God as shown in the Bible.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that they expect Christ to return to their temple in Missouri, but they haven’t built the temple He’s supposed to return to, because they don’t own the property. (It is owned by the “Temple Lot Mormons” who have plans of their own, and won’t let the Salt Lake City group buy it).

Strange. We also won't tell you when your car is going to break down next. If God wants us to build a temple there...we'll get the land. Period. Same thing happened at the Denver temple. The five anti-Mormons that had sworn to lead the vote against the Church being granted a building permit, mysteriously forgot to show up on the day of the hearing. The Church got the permit. No unhallowed hand will stop this work.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that they consider the Bible to be untrustworthy and full of errors.

Wrong. We don't believe the Bible is untrustworthy. We believe it is the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. Which makes perfect sense as seeing how modern "christianity" can't seem to find a version they like.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that Jesus’ death on the cross only partially saves the believer.

Half truth. Because if we believed that it was only His death that saved us...well we'd be just as wrong as those that do. Thank goodness we have a living prophet that teaches correct doctrine. It was Jesus' resurrection that saved us from death. It was Jesus suffering the pains of all sin that allows us to be forgiven for our sins. It's the Grace of Christ at our judgment that saves us. His death doesn't save us.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that that according to Anton Lavey’s Satanic Bible, the demon god of the living dead is called “Mormo”. Is it just a coincidence that the Mormons are so concerned with the dead?

Maybe True. I don't know. Because I don't make it point of reading from Anton Lavey's Satanic Bible. I guess if I ever have a question about what's in the Satanic Bible, I'll go ask an anti-Mormon.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that on their Salt Lake City temple they prominently display an upside-down star which is a Satanic symbol known as the goat’s head. Why?

Wrong. There are also symbols of the moon and sun as well. These are reminders of the kingdoms of God as described in 1 Cor 15:41.

1 Cor 15:41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.

The stars of heaven have no right side up. I don't know anything about Satanic stuff, but if I ever have a question...well I know where to come.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that they believe the Archangel Michael came down to earth with several of his celestial wives, and became Adam in the garden of Eden.

Really wrong. Several wives??? Michael did become Adam, but Adam had Eve. And Adam wasn't married until God married him to Eve.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that that they believe the angel Gabriel came down to earth and became Noah in the days of the flood.

True. Why do you say we won't tell you? If you ask I'll be happy to tell you. gah...everything's a conspiracy.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that their prophet Joseph Smith prophesied falsely many times. For example, he foretold the second coming of Christ for 1891. The Bible teaches that one false prophecy puts the prophet under death sentence. (Deuteronomy 18:20-22).

Wrong.  He never falsely prophesied anything. It's not up to us to judge the things of God.

Mark 13:26 - 30

26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.

Or do you say Jesus prophesied falsely? Nah. God's view is not our view.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that their prophet Joseph Smith did not die as a martyr as they claim, but was killed during a gun battle in which he himself killed two men and wounded a third.

Wrong. Such a petty argument. He's a martyr to us. I don't care what a bunch of anti-Mormons think.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU about the Mountain Meadows Massacre in which they brutally murdered an innocent wagon train of settlers, of over one hundred men, women, and most of the children, traveling through Utah.

Weird. Why would we? It's irrelevant. Tragic event that happened 150 years ago. We also won't bother telling you about the Haun's Mill Massacre. I'm curious, do evangelical anti-Mormon types talk about how many protestants were members of the Ku Klux Klan? Or how many were slave owners? How about the 30,000 anabaptist killed by the Lutherans? 1700 yrs of blood on it's hands and modern "christianity" wants to focus on an event that happened 150 yrs ago that involved Mormons... nice.

I follow Joseph Smith's council

And now, if there are faults they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God, that ye may be found spotless at the judgment–seat of Christ. -Joseph Smith Jr.

MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that Joseph Smith taught that there were inhabitants on the moon, and Brigham Young taught there were inhabitants on the sun as well!

Wrong. This is not church doctrine. It's not taught in the Church and never has been. It's the musings of 19th century men who were daring to dream in an age before there were even airplanes.

WHY WON’T MORMONS TELL YOU THESE THINGS?

GASP! I WON'T TELL YOU ABOUT MICROBIOLOGY EITHER!!! I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!! AAAAH!!!

The Missionaries are well trained to keep most of these facts from their potential converts.

CONSPIRACY!! Wow... in reality as a missionary... I was never trained or taught to keep anything from anyone. I was...however...taught to love the people I was teaching like Christ would love them.

As I've shown above, most of the stuff that gets spread around by anti-Mormon websites are nothing but subjective, half truths, falsehoods, and scare tactics meant to shock the reader. Is that really what Christ wants of His people?

Thanks for providing the evidence that you don't read the materials posted quoting your founders and teachers ... or were you just lying for the lord to protect your religion from exposure? I wonder if you actually know what your religion really is all about, since you don't know what your religion teaches about the Momron jesus:

Tennessee Nana -- MORMONS WON’T TELL YOU that they believe the mormon jesus had at least three wives and children while he was on this earth.
Stourme -- True. The missionaries won't tell you this. Because we don't believe this. I've never even heard it before.

If all the acts of Jesus were written, we no doubt should learn that these beloved women were his wives." (Orson Pratt, The Seer, p.159)

For those who Trust in Jesus as their Savior, below are the characteristics of the Mormon jesus. See if these characteristics are the ones which fit the Jesus of the Bible, the Jesus you would trust as Savior:

Mormons believe Jesus was married at the marriage feast in Cana where He changed water into wine.

Mormons believe that the Mormon jesus was married to more than one woman.

The Mormon jesus was persecuted because he was a polygamist.

The Mormon jesus came into existence when his father in heaven created him along with his brothers and sisters, as a spirit being who was not yet a god.

Mormons believe Lucifer was one of the Mormon jesus's brothers, before the Mormon jesus became a man and later a god.

The Mormon jesus has become one individual god in a troika of gods which includes the Mormon jesus's father--who was once a man and inhabits a body of flesh and bones and through goodness gained the attributes of godhood when he was selected by a council of gods to be the god of earth--and the ‘never to receive a fleshly body’ holy spirit.

The Mormon jesus can save you, after all that you can do to be worthy of the grace of the Mormon godhead--which is, again, a troika of three gods working for a common purpose.

Every one of that list of the Mormon jesus characteristics is based upon the teachings from Mormon leaders who are attested as true by Mormons, for if they do not swear they attest to these teachers' characterizations then they have no temple recommend!

When a Mormon accuses someone who opposes those heresies regarding Jesus of lying about their religious beliefs, we post the actual quotes of the teachers who said these things about the jesus Mormons are trusting to save them after all that they can do.

[Stourme chuckles]

The Journal of Discourses is not Church doctrine. Nor is it taught as doctrine.

The Journal of Discourses is a collection of writing, sayings, and personal speculation. But it is not doctrine.

It's cool reading though. It's interesting from a historical perspective ...

So what I said:

True. The missionaries won't tell you this. Because we don't believe this. I've never even heard it before.

Is absolutely true.
