Art Vanick on Glenn Beck and Mormonism
Out of Mormonism ^
Posted on 10/04/2010 12:57:36 PM PDT by Amerisrael
Art Vanick, co-author of The Spalding Enigma, Who Really Wrote The Book of Mormon, makes an appearance on Out of Mormonism to address the Glenn Beck Restoring Honor Rally.
Andy, Art, and Roger discuss the ramifications of the rally from a biblical Christian perspective.
Do Christians understand that Mormonism is different than biblical Christianity?
[ These are two separate "Out of Mormonism" radio podcasts from Mesa, Arizona. Very interesting.]
While Mormonism may not pose the violent / stealth and political threat that Islam does, from a spiritual standpoint, it is just as dangerous.

Yeah, some came to my neighborhood yesterday and they were tossing molotov cocktails off their bikes burning down all of the non-mormon houses and churches. I doubt it!
But Thank GOD!! we've learned to leave PRINTING PRESSES alone!

I know that generally people say lds are conservative, however I can not think of a single well know elected lds who is conservative. Then HOW do they get elected?
By LIBERALs, who couldn't care less about their religion,
or by MORMONs, who couldn't care less about their politics?

When Mormons kill 3000 people at once let me know and I will start worrying. Matthew 10:28
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

If you peruse the Free Republic religion forums you will notice a pattern. We sure do!
You NEVER directly answer an easy (or a hard) question; but always say, "Look over there!"

B.
But if you had included a C that answer could be:
lds are not what they appear to be.
Then I would haven chosen C

So, how do you categorize an ex-mormon, happily married to a mormon for over 20 years who doesn't mind speaking out against mormonism? You know EXACTLY how; you Hateful, Bigotted APOSTATE!

The Articles of Faith
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
- We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
- We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
- We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
- We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
- We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
- We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
- We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
- We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
- We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
- We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
- We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of PaulWe believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

HYPOCRITES describe the Ruling Class of MORMONs that will not ALLOW the Flds folks to call themselves MORMON (Even though THEY are the ones who actually FOLLOW mormon 'scripture' found in D&C 132).

I mean, how dare you sir, suggest that the circular arguments posted here by the Anti-Mormons can be addressed through personal study and prayer! Here is a simple linear question that can SURELY be answered they way you've described:
What did Joseph Smith learn to be UNTRUE about PRESBYTERIANism?

from what I understand is that once you die and go to heaven youare given your own world to act as god over, yet there is still THE GOD who created the universe and is still GOD over you. But my information may be flawed.Mormons redefine most Christian/Biblical words. "Create" is one of those they redefine. When a Mormon says God "created" they don't mean out of nothing (Hebrews 11:3, Latin ex nihilo). They just mean "reorganize."
Comparably, if the Mormon god was to build your house out of wood...he wouldn't make the wood out of nothing. He would merely "reorganize" it from matter already eternal.
To: killermedic
why would you offer such an obvious answer? I mean, how dare you sir, suggest that the circular arguments posted here by the Anti-Mormons can be addressed through personal study and prayer! The nerve of you, Man!!!/sarc with ridiculous british accent implied.
you left out "What Cheek!"

No but the LDS God, His Son Jesus Christ, and The Holy Ghost as The Godhead certainly fit the description... The two PERSONAGES in JS' vision PERFECTLY fit the description of BIBLICAL Angels of Light; but MORMONs are convinced they were the Father (with a physical body) and the SON (with a physical body).

I suppose in your zeal to irritate those you classify as bigots, aren't you yourself demonstrating bigotry because you can't accept the fact that a person could be married to a mormon, yet question the doctrine?[szonian]
I'm not quite sure yet whether you're a liar, a hypocrite or a bigot. [panaxanax]
Well, I'm sure your little mind will come up with something that satisfies your puerile need to justify the fact your argument has no merit. [szonian]
Szonian, based on past posts, panaxanax himself has said either he is no longer an active Mormon (and the church might even consider him ex-Mormon). Panax, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this -- that you're not either a jack Mormon or ex-Mormon. He has Lds family and comes here, LeGrande style, and defends his family.
Either way, here Panaxanax is calling you names of either a Hypocrite, etc....and the irony is that he, like you, no longer fellowships in the Church!
He, like you Szonian, is "anti" enough about something of MormonISM that he doesn't highlight it in his life. Yes, he tries to defend Mormons themselves, but note that he rarely, if ever, defends their very beliefs by arguing their belief system!
More irony. Here in his life he joins us in being against the "ism" of MormonISM...and yet he calls you hypocritical. How hilarious!

Mormons believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.Among other things...
