To Tithe Or Not To Tithe ( Vanity )

Okay, I'll be honest, I am not a great follower of Glenn Beck yet I am trying to understand what exactly his message is. I try to understand by listening to what others have to say and by watching his shows and rallys.
Today on his show, Glenn said, "If you don't believe in giving 10% tithe, why are you going to that church?" I about had to pick my jaw off the floor. I was not aware attending church was about a 10% tithe and if you didn't have the funds, why attend?
In my minds eye, this is NOT how to attract people to church or to the word of God. God is about Love, Compassion and Unity. In these economic times people are barely able to care for their families let alone give 10% of their income to churches that havn't exactly set a very "spiritual" example.
I am not sure I enjoy where Glenn Beck is taking us.

Believe it or not, many people give much more than 10% of their income, they also give the church 10% of their time. I will not sit here and judge anyone but I guarantee you there are not many people who give what they could. I think Glenn Beck is a good man and I wish people would stop bashing him just because he joined the Mormon faith. No, I am not a Mormon.

If Glenn Beck were to become a Muslim and hold a rally such as the one Saturday, for God and country, then I would say fine. Although the Muslim faith would disallow him to honor God. Therefore it would not be under discussion. It is interesting that he did include men of the cloth from all denominations.

What does that mean???? You're a lousy follower? Well, my friend, you need to either become a better follower or, better yet, stop following any mortal man at all. Then you won't have all the quandries you've expressed. I listen to Beck on occasion, when I can stomache him. Follow? Allow myself to get taken? No. I will give credit where credit is due, but that's it.

I made no such assertion, you twisted my words to suit your own agenda. My query was purely out of honesty and curiousity. I have received several intelligent and open responses, unlike yours. I suggest you reread my post and come up with something more concrete other than accusing me of bashing Glenn Beck. tsk tsk

I think most understand Beck does not fully understand the Mormon religion nor has he gone the full gammet. I am inclined to think he may well be a Christian and if so he will one day leave the Mormon organization. Further it isn’t Beck they are slamming as much as Mormonism, Which is not Christian. It is because Mormonism claims the mantel of Christianity which their belief system is dimaetrically opposed to. “Having an appearance” of Christianity only...which Christ warned us about.

Beck will come away in time..and interesting is being influenced greatly by Christians outside of Mormonism...which is a good thing. Time will tell, but when he starts promoting Mormonism as the piped piper of that counterfeit Christianity...his credablility on other issues will be damaged. He will loose his audiance...aside from those who are Mormon.

I didn’t accuse you of bashing Beck. I’m not even a fan (except to give him credit when he does something good). I expressed my curiousity that you were “following” or “being led” (your own words).
