Christ died for our sins. Did He himself have / inherit original sin?
Apparently there is no correlation between the ability to post a GIF and the ability to tell the truth. I knew an eye witness to the conversion, Fr. Robert Curtis, and know him to be a man of truth and God. The same cannot be said of you.
Well put. Alamo-girl, there is no simple one-worder. God is complex. We know what He is not. Mother of the Incarnate Word leaves room for the possibilities of Arius (i.e. that Christ was not God or not THE God but a “godling” or a “sub-god” or an angel or a demiurge) or Nestorius (that Christ was not wholly man and wholly God, hence God did not suffer for us) or Adoptionism (that Jesus was “possessed” by the Holy Spirit)
QUIX: "JESUS PERSISTENTLY REFERRED TO IT IS WRITTEN AS *HIS* CREATOR GOD's "Does Quix consider that Jesus had a creator god?
Why bother to ask? Why don't you just do as Dr. E does and just declare in no uncertain terms that Dr. Eckleburg believes Mary is "totally depraved". And then don't forget to add a link or reference to some nonexistent or dubious website as proof and then close with a gratuitous slander of something Catholic. Remember, when bashing the Church, truth is not important and most often not possible.
Was Mary totaly depraved?
Mary was human. Mary died and was subject to the curse. Mary thanked God for her Saviour. Mary, like us was subject to total depravity.
Total depravity is the fallen state of man as a result of original sin. The doctrine of total depravity asserts that people are by nature not inclined or even able to love God wholly with heart, mind, and strength, but rather all are inclined by nature to serve their own will and desires and to reject the rule of God. Even religion and philanthropy are wicked to God to the extent that these originate from a human imagination, passion, and will and are not done to the glory of God.
Total depravity does not mean, however, that people are as evil as possible. Rather, it means that even the good which a person may intend is faulty in its premise, false in its motive, and weak in its implementation; and there is no mere refinement of natural capacities that can correct this condition. Thus, even acts of generosity and altruism are in fact egoist acts in disguise. All good, consequently, is derived from God alone, and in no way through man.
My eyes! Careful with that mess - some of us fly by those type posts at warp speed. Suggest you repost the pertinent question in traditional format.
Apologies, but in any case, the post was not meant for you, it was meant for the guy who can only read in multi-colored fonts. The rest of you can pretty much ignore it as it is just repasting of colored-font-text from the Quixotic one.
[grin] One of the great ironies of Romanism is that with all their talk about the abstract free will of men and it's putative inherent goodness this is actually negated by the higher order demand that all humans must submit their will to an always changing list of definitions proclaimed by Rome. When those not under the authority of Rome use their free will to question those definitions they are tarred as opposing no matter what. The contemporary version of the Inquisition.
So apparently the good doctor wants to avoid the point that his argument and Bible texts work as well against him as for him.
"Scripture is the word of God; truth made known to men by the Holy Spirit. Scripture does not contradict itself. Men's beliefs and practices either align with Scripture or they contradict Scripture."
Invoking Scripture as if it applied uniquely to your position when it could equally support your opponent is either disingenuous or stupid.
"And welcome to Free Republic, newbie."
As if that has any value in defending your position.
I'm leaning toward disingenuous only because I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt for actually being bright enough to be a doctor. Feel free to prove me wrong.
Dr. E is neither bright nor a doctor.
your’re beautiful when you’re angry.
So when you find yourself in a tight spot, you giggle? Cute.
And you guys claim your religion isn't a religion of a book...HaHaHa...
So what are you saying; that your defense is in your book, somewhere, you just don't know exactly where???
