Me: Looks like I made a mistake.
You: An adult would admit a mistake.
Forgive me for believing your admittance of a mistake was primarilly a "yah but" list of excuses and deflecting the guilt to me.

Old Reggie: Note to self: In the trash bucket.
Thanks for confirming your Unitarian beliefs Old_Reggie. Of course, you would base this on sola scriptura that there is no Trinity. And yet, the rest of the Sola scriptura crowd also use this maxim to state that there IS a Trinity (as do us in orthodoxy but we don't say Sola Scriptura).
If Sola Scriptura works, how come you, Old_Reggie can say there is no Trinity and the rest of the SS crowd can say that there is?
Old Reggie: Please define Sola Scriptura.
Do you define sola scriptura as that only those doctrines are to be admitted or confessed that are found directly within or indirectly by using valid logical deduction or valid deductive reasoning from scripture
Do you attest to the idea of the Trinity or no?
, it's a simple answer -- yes or no. And you can expound on it if you so wish of course, it's your prerogative.

D-fendr: Is asking if you believe in the triune God off limits also?
Do you believe Jesus is divine?
Old Reggie: What you learn in my posting is all I wish for you to learn.
I consider this prying and bagering.
This is hardly like we're asking him his name -- which is his personal business. On the contrary we are asked to disprove all the statements made by every loony on the web -- "Catholics say booga-boo when they go out on Halloween and do not say ooga-oogga?" And then told what we believe in and when we ask someone else why they believe in something, it's called badgering?
This is the other tactic followed by the usual suspects here (along with shoot-and-run and colored fonts and tell-a-lie-and-repeat-it-over-and-over-again)

Then you get “where’s the Scripture for that”; meanwhile they are more led by church doctrine that Scripture. You know - that church doctrine - that no one knows but them. ;)

INDEED. And if a Proddy has the audacity to demonstrate knowledge of THAT little corner of RC beliefs and practices . . . they’ll quickly cobble together a way to claim THAT’S not true and the slippery eel slips out of one’s discussion fingers yet again.
WHAT A SYSTEM. If some of them had any insight AND maintained their death grips on such hogwash, they’d never show their faces in public for embarrassment.
Jihadi’s seem to totally lack insight into the contradictions of their beliefs and practices, too. Incredible.

There are Catholics and there are thin skinned Catholics. Is that a new denomination?

NO. I don’t think so. It’s a cardinal doctrine of the main thing. It’s just usually hidden under white hankys until it jumps out to bite Proddys.

Tsk, Tsk...You're about the only Catholic on FR that mentions Jesus, and not all that often...As close as most of you can get to it is saying the word 'Christ'...
And close to your argument, Most Sola Scriptura folks on the Fr Religion Forum rarely mention Jesus but mention the Bible in almost every post. Clearly they are only deceiving us when they say that Jesus is more important to them than Scripture. How gullible do they think I am!
That's a completely inaccurate statement...But regardless, the scriptures are the words of God...So who, believing that, would not want to spend as much time in the scriptures as possible??? How can you separate Jesus from the scriptures???

I find it incredibly ironic and hypocritical of them to scoff at sola scriptura and claim that the written word isn't enough and then appeal to only one or two verses taken out of context and poorly interpreted on which to build entire major doctrines. INDEED. . . . Skyscrapers of theology on slivers of toothpicks for foundations.
They seem to love making incredulity a popular habit.

I appreciate the comments on eschatology. I think I understand your perspective better now.
Yes, I think a LOG of Scriptures either are or might be BOTH/AND. I still can’t remotely see Mary in the Revelation stuff by a trillion miles.
I also think the business about being challenged on Mary etc. leaves y’all talking about Mary more only travels a certain limited distance.
Just take 6 months of the listings of threads in the Religion Forum. Count the number of thread titles referring to Mary in some form vs all the other RC thread titles.
THAT SHOULD SHOCK any insightful religionist of any flavor.
Our Proddy Vulcan Mind Meld stays chronically broken. We have no power to force RC’s to post thread titles we’d favor. Actually, it seems like they delight in posting thread titles to bait and outrage us, instead. So whatever thread titles mention Mary are y’all’s ‘free choice.’ We don’t accept the blame at all.
Still we get threads about such stuff as . . . the fantasized magnificence of
—Mary’s latest HEAVENLY OFFICE AND FUNCTION;
—the latest polishing job on Mary’s halo;
—the latest amplification in Mary’s capacity to save all mankind, all ET’s, all critters, all distant planets and multi-verses;
—the latest polishing job on Mary’s perfections;
—the latest polishing job on Mary’s birth; Mary’s parents’ brith . . . ad nauseum back to Adam;
—the latest rationalization for Mary’s bossing hubby Holy Spirit around and taking over his job of drawing folks to Christ;
—etc. etc. etc.
And STILL y’all want us to believe that YOUR FOCUS IS REALLY Jesus!
We’re not that gullible.
We’re not even that dumb.
We’re certainly not that stupid.

no I do not believe Mary gave her consent...rather she yielded her will to Gods. She said...Be it unto me as YOU will...that is not consent..of yes or no..That's what we mean by consent.
It often comes down to a disagreement about the nature of the will's relationship to the good -- to God. Augustine says of God that He is the one whom to serve is to be free ("Whose service is perfect freedom" - in the old Episcopalian wording.)
I think Calvin gets this, but I think the notion of freedom of will has decayed since his day.

No, we understand quite clearly the Catholic church claim of spiritual authority over believers everywhere and that’s why we resist it.
The Catholic church is the only organization that claims to be the only church that Jesus created and that everyone who believes is a member of it by default whether they know it or not.
That is not so. All believers everywhere comprise the church, which is His body, which does not equate to the RCC, no matter how much they claim it and misinterpret Bible verses and the words of Jesus to say so.
And the Catholic church today looks nothing like the church as found in the book of Acts.
WELL PUT.
