You must have missed all those scriptural references from the writers I excerpted...but thanks for providing a lesson on the thread topic ;-)
Is the article addressing you to address me?
I have observed repeatedly that attempting to read “the other guy’s” mind, and presuming to know his beliefs, his thought patterns, his practices better than he knows them, serves no good purpose.
- - - - - - -
That presumes 2 things. 1) That the ‘other guy’ is actually telling the truth about his teachings/practices/beleifs and 2) that the person involved does not know the other guys beliefs (or churches beliefs) better or has not been a member of that church.
For example, as a former Mormon, I am keenly aware of LDS beliefs/history/practices and I do know them better than most members (and did when I was LDS), furthermore I am aware (and was guilty of when I was LDS) of their practice of ‘lying for the Lord’ where omission obfuscation and outright lying is considered ok as long as it protects the Mormon church.
Finally, I am often attacked, without any proof, of taking things out of context, lying, etc. when I can (and do) back up my assertions while those who attack me do not.
There are some who will hate you, lie about you, and attack you just because you are telling them the truth, in a loving manner but because they do not like the MESSAGE, they attack the MESSENGER.
The Message of Christ crucified is offensive to many.
LOL!!!
Here is a perfect example of 'believers'.
Am I to agree/speak in humility that even though we disagree, we both love Jesus/or stand for the truth? I am a believer in a completely different Gospel,The Gospel of the Grace of God, not The Gospel of the Kingdom.
Spiritual battles aren’t for the weak of heart.

AMEN!!
Is the article addressing you to make comments in the thread that have nothing to do with the article?
On the other hand, when polemics are used as a club, they serve the purpose of doing violence, not charity.
16 Do not err, therefore, my dearest brethren. 17 Every best gift, and every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of alteration. 18 For of his own will hath he begotten us by the word of truth, that we might be some beginning of his creatures. 19 You know, my dearest brethren. And let every man be swift to hear, but slow to speak, and slow to anger. 20 For the anger of man worketh not the justice of God.
21 Wherefore casting away all uncleanness, and abundance of naughtiness, with meekness receive the ingrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if a man be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he shall be compared to a man beholding his own countenance in a glass. 24 For he beheld himself, and went his way, and presently forgot what manner of man he was. 25 But he that hath looked into the perfect law of liberty, and hath continued therein, not becoming a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work; this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 And if any man think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his own heart, this man's religion is vain. 27 Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.
--James 1: 16-27
Why did you call me “kid”? It’s the desire to throw unprovoked insults that is so offensive about religious zealots. I have been subjected to far worse than the comment you wish a link to, based on my belief that strict Roman Catholicism is not the only path to “heaven”.
A lack of Christian zeal is in many ways why we are in the state we have found ourselves in the 21st century.
Tolerance is all good and well, but when the faith itself is being slandered and attacked from outside, we are called to defend it.

Most of my friends didn’t know any Christians, IRL. Seriously, in Grad school I was an anomaly. And stereotypes are often rooted in some truth, but don’t underestimate the propaganda that is out there.
And I do know a few of those who claim to be Christians and don’t ‘walk the walk’ but I also question their relationship with God. There are far many more people who CLAIM to be Christians but are only nominal Christians at best. That is a problem in the Church today that bothers me.
AFA, how I come across, LOL. I have been called every name in the book by posters here on FR, and attacked for gently speaking the Gospel to the LDS. I have had LDS state I am arrogant and I have had LDS who don’t even consider me an ‘anti’. There is some perception differences on the other end even if my behavior is the same.
But, I do get your point.
You are very wise brother.. the only unity found is found in the gospel ... all other unity is false..
We should not worry how others perceive us We should seek only to please God
Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Why did you call me kid?
