I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Learning of the restored Gospel of Christ has been the greatest blessing in my life.

I don’t want to leave the Church and see no reason to. I have found it to be a wonderful influence for good in my life, the life of my family and so many people I know.

Personally I dont read science fiction..

But just how do you think Jesus lost, dropped, misplaced or had stolen His Church of believers that she ever needed to be “restored” to Him ???

HOW did that happen ???

Were you ever “blessed” with that knowledge ???

Do I have time to make coffee ???

My guess is YES...

Normandy, can you tell us what exactly is this "restored Gospel?" It sounds like a wonderful blessing. What exactly is it?

You know the Boy Scouts can also "be a wonderful influence for good" in the lives of scoutmasters, family members, and many people we know.

But there's a difference between the Boy Scouts and the Lds Church. The Boy Scouts don't:
* pretend to offer you a way to become a god...
* tell Boy Scouts, "you're a god-in-embryo" like the Mormon church does...

* change their most deeply held policies according to the whim of man...like Mormonism has with...
* ...polygamy (No: Book of Mormon times -- if they existed; Yes: 1830s to 1910...tho "officially" cut back in 1890; to be re-instituted when the Mormon jesus returns; practiced NOW on Kolob; No: 1910-2010)
* ...blood atonement (Yes: 1850s and smattering examples beyond that; No: Not taken up by Brigham's successors)
* ...blacks as priesthood holders, (No: 1830s to 1978; Yes: 1978 to present)
* ...Adam is god, (Yes: early 1850s to late 1870s; No: 1880-present)
* ...you can't become a god (No, you can't - 1830s Book of Mormon Mormonism + Book of Mormon "times" -- if they existed; Yes, you can - 1840s D&C Mormonism & beyond)
* ...God was a wannabe god when he was a man (No, not the case for 1830s Book of Mormon Mormonism or Book of Mormon "times" -- if they existed; Yes, he was for 1844 Mormonism & beyond)
* ...Jesus to be worshiped (Yes, 1830s Book of Mormon Mormonism + Book of Mormon "times" -- if they existed -- from 6th century B.C. (2 Nephi) --> 231 A.D. (4 Nephi) ...based upon some who still take at least 4 BoM passages + other Bible passages seriously; No, apostle Bruce McConkie says "no" in early 1980s)
* ...Jesus to be prayed directly to (Yes, 1830s Book of Mormon based upon numerous references in 3 Nephi 19; No, at some point Lds leaders simply said "no")
* ...Baptism for the dead (No, no such thing in 1830s Book of Mormon Mormonism or Book of Mormon "times" -- if they existed; Yes, 1840s and beyond)

All you have to do to "discover 'truth'" in Mormonism is watch the "prophet" wave his wand...and if you don't like Mormon 'truth' today...don't worry...it'll change tomorrow.

What's the "restored gospel," Normandy?
Baptism for the dead? Nope wasn't practiced in the Book of Mormon, nor 1830s Mormonism
3 degrees of glory? Nope wasn't mentioned in the Book of Mormon.
God was once a man, or man can become a god? Nope, not mentioned in the Book of Mormon or Bible.

Besides, how could the gospel be "lost" when Joseph Smith claimed it was always "the same" and the New Testament prophesies it will endure forever?

Jump ahead to "Reason #231 of Why You Should Leave Mormonism" from the source of this thread's article:

231 Gospel Always the Same

TPJS, pg. 264; Now taking it for granted that the scriptures say what they mean, and mean what they say, we have sufficient grounds to go on and prove from the Bible that the gospel has always been the same, and the officers to officiate, the same; the ordinances to fulfill its requirements, the same, and the signs and fruits resulting from the promises, the same

1 Peter 1:25; But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

So, Normandy, based upon Smith's own comment and Peter's own comment, what was lost in need of "restoration?"

It is all about the Church for the LDS.

Guess what, Norm, religion doesn’t save you. Good works don’t get you to God, and trusting in a false Christ won’t get you either. There is no ‘restored gospel’ that is a lie from the pits of hell.

The best reason to leave the LDS church is it will not get you back to God. It cannot.

Lord; my prayer is to OPEN this mans eyes; BLIND him on the road, like Paul, if need be.

SHOW him what You are REALLY like and buckle his knees in fear and trembling.
