7 When you pray, dont babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Dont be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, --New Living Translation 7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.] 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9Pray, therefore, like this: 15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. --Amplified Pray with Simplicity 5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? 6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. 7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: 16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well. |

Far more often than not, yup. :D

Not at all. We do not, however, worship it. In particular, I personally do not worship Paul, nor do I hang on his every word in the NT. I tend to think he was insane. However, God can do anything, use anybody.
And repeated it here....

Does anyone here think its possible to bully me into like St. Paul? Or to scare me into it? I dont like the man revealed by his writing. I do not think he was very tightly wrapped; I think he may have been insane. His level of sophistication does not impress me.
“...tend to think...”
“...may have been...”
Since there were over a thousand posts about MY OPINION OF ST. PAUL, do we have to drag it onto this thread and re-hash it again? I thought that was against the rules, anyway, to drag a particular statement someone makes, from thread to thread. It’s like stalking, or spamming.
Are you still outraged? My, my, I hope it doesn’t give you an acid stomach.
But, if you can’t handle people disagreeing with you, and if you are so thin-skinned that you think you must CRUSH people who disagree with you, feel free to try.
Considering the sheer goofiness of SOME of the responses reinforces my opinion of St. Paul.
Oh, and just in case THIS old canard comes to mind, MY OPINION IS NOT NECESSARILY THE OPINION OF SOME, ANY, OR ALL CATHOLICS.
I guess one man's presbyteros is another man's hiereus, eh? After all, what's in a word? /sarc
Peter tells us that Paul wrote some thing that are hard to understand which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other scriptures, to their own destruction (II Peter 3:15-16).
Followed immediately by:
2Pe 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
2Pe 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
(e-Sword:KJV)
Thx for your reply.

d00d. That was an EPIC rant. Epic, and true. Thanks.
Amen!
I wish folks would dwell on that a bit.
Thank you both for your encouragements!
Ahhhhh, yes . . .
The OUTRAGEOUSLY UNBIBLICAL, devilish, idolatrous, blasphemous
MEDIATRIX role
foisted upon the sheeple by various bureaucratic elite power mongering blokes.
What an insult to the authentic Biblical Mary.
INDEED! AMEN! AMEN!
= = =
And men are not instructed to “give their all to Mary.” God forbid.
RC apologists should flee any person or organization that encourages that kind of anti-Scriptural, anti-Christian thinking. It may feel all warm and cozy and familial, but sentimental idolatry often feels good to our fallen hearts.
Resist it. Christ alone is worthy of our “all.”
“For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.” — Hebrews 3:3
GOODNESS! What a short memory!
1. IIRC, You raised the issue in THIS thread DENYING that you’d said such things—DENYING SUCH IN THIS THREAD.
2. Talking about issues relevant to this thread is far from stalking a PERSON thread to thread.
3. Thinking before typing can be an advantageous blessing.
4. Blaming, obfuscating, irrational slipping and sliding around issues pointing fingers elsewhere is not usually a very faithful route to enlightenment.
Thanks.
Alas, it seems to have been over the heads, comprehension of a number of the rabid clique type folks . . .
or was it . . . over their . . . uhhh . . . will to believe truth?
I think it’s toooooo frightful for them to contemplate.
So they MUST rapidly scroll by to avoid disturbing thoughts when they try to sleep.
Absolutely TRUE.
If someone puts forth an unbiblical teaching and produces a *miracle* to verify it, it's not going to be from Christ. He would never contradict His word.
Hence, again, the absolute requirement that the Holy Word of God be made paramount - above ANY tradition of any kind. It is the rod to measure all things by.
good post.
Is there anyone on this thread who doesn’t know to whom you refer?
LOL! Careful, gnawing on others’ faults so persistently can cause dental problems. Whereas, gnawing on one’s own faults can lead to good health, sound teeth and happiness!
Do you do yard work? Growing flowers and food in the sunshine can be constructive for all sorts of ills, especially RA. Why, a person could feel terrific, full of the joy of life and gratitude to the Savior for His Love.
Apple sauce, scrambled eggs, soups, milk based smoothies, peanut butter sandwiches (creamy smooth, not crunchy) cottage cheese, jello, are all good for people with dental problems.
I hope you can dwell on something constructive, instead of getting hysterical over the Vatican agents again.
Jesus Christ, the Risen Son of God Almighty is my Lord and Savior.
Be careful how you treat others. Especially Samaritans. You may need help from one of them, someday.
