GIVE IT ALL TO . . . ? . . . .

--A Research Thread--

. . .

.

7 “When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
10 May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today the food we need,[a]
12 and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
13 And don’t let us yield to temptation,[b]
but rescue us from the evil one.[c]

--New Living Translation

7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.]

8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

9Pray, therefore, like this:

Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed (kept holy) be Your name.
10Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven ([e]left, remitted, and let go of the debts, and have [f]given up resentment against) our debtors.
13And lead (bring) us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

14For if you forgive people their trespasses [their [g]reckless and willful sins, [h]leaving them, letting them go, and [i]giving up resentment], your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses.

--Amplified

Pray with Simplicity

5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat?

6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.

7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this:

Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what's best— as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You're in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You're ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.

14-15"In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can't get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God's part.

16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well.
--THE MESSAGE

Mark Kirby:

O Mother of Good Counsel,
Mother of Perpetual Help,
I turn with confidence to thy maternal Heart,
and I renew my total and irrevocable consecration to thee.

I am all thine, Most Holy Mary,
and all that I have is thine.
I give thee my past with its burdens.
I give thee this present moment with its anxieties and fears.
I give thee my future and all that it holds.

There is no part of my life that is not open to thee,
no place so secret, or so darkened by sin
that thy presence and thy influence
are not wholly and ardently desired there.

I want to be completely transparent with thee,
utterly simple, guileless, and childlike.
Thou knowest, O Mother,
all my preoccupations,
all my intentions,
and all those recommended to my prayer.
Take them, I beseech thee, to thy Immaculate Heart
and, as my Advocate, my all-powerful intercessor, and my Mediatrix,
present them to thy Son.
Seeing them presented by thee
and held in thy maternal Heart,
there is nothing that He will not do
to give to each intention the one response
worthy of the infinite mercy and love of His Sacred Heart.

Praying in this way, I can be at rest,
for thou art my Mother,
and all that I entrust to thee will be,
I am sure,
received, and considered, and cared for
with a Mother's love.
Amen.

Scriptures
Worth prayerfully pondering
regarding the above.

.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. - Matt 6:24

If any [man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. - Luke 14:26

And when he had called the people [unto him] with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. - Mark 8:34

Please consider asserting to the Body of Christ for our prayerful considerationhereon, and to the watching world, what your focus you choose in light of the above. To What, or to Whom do you give your all to?

I was trying to click “edit” one more time and got too close to “post,” instead!

Ahhh well, it was almost OK.

Ping to a lot of folks I’d be grateful to if they would respond.

Nothing wrong with asking out Blessed Mother to intercede for us.

And that would be “Father Mark Kirby” to you!

Give it all to Mary

|

300px-Our_Mother_of_Perpetual_Help.jpg

Friends, readers of Vultus Christi, and others often write me asking for intercessory prayer for a particular intention, for the resolution of a crisis, or for the healing of an affliction of soul or body. I take these requests seriously. They can, however, become overwhelming at times. I have, however, found a solution. I entrust them all to Our Blessed Lady. She is our Mother of Good Counsel, ever ready to guide us into the best way of interceding, the wisest way of intervening, the purest way of loving. She is also our Mother of Perpetual Help; that means that she is available everywhere and all the time. She is never far from us, never otherwise occupied. The other evening as I was praying for the many intentions recommended to me, this prayer rose in my heart. I' happy to share it with my readers.

Amen.

Thank you so much for this research thread!

To What, or to Whom do you give your all to?

It's not even a contest for me.

Then one of them, [which was] a lawyer, asked [him a question], tempting him, and saying, Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law?

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all [Greek word holos] thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment. And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. – Matthew 22:35-40

From the Torah:

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. - Deut 6:5

And again,

Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have [somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. – Revelation 2:1-5

Indeed, any thing or any one that we love equal to or more than God - if even for a moment - is an idol to us.

That would include our children, spouse, ideas, church, possessions, people and so on. It also includes self.

But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. - Matt 16:23-25

To God be the glory, not man, never man!

THANKS TONS for such excellent Scriptures and points.

I whole-heartedly identify with them.

God’s best to all who Love Him, as each of us seeks to walk in lock-step with Holy Spirit in walking those Scriptures out in our lives moment by moment.

Much appreciate your contribution to this thread.

No, Dear Sister,

It would NOT be Father . . .

to me.

I seek to obey the Scripture whole-heartedly in avoiding calling anyone FATHER except for my

HEAVENLY FATHER.

I fiercely disagree.

1. There is NO Biblical support for it.
2. There is plenty of Biblical proscription against such.

However, the focus of this thread is to see where different "Christians" assign their focus--what and/or whom they give their "ALL" to.

It appears that some "Christians" have several baskets that they pretend each of which contains 100% of their "ALL" that they then distribute to several foci.

Interesting mathematics, that.

Did my "Catholic Caucus" post disturb you because of the content or because you were left out from commenting in disparaging fashion?

Give it all to Mary [Catholic Caucus]
"Even thou God has set His seal of approval on the Holy Rosary by many miracles, and in spite of the Papal Bulls that have been written approving it, there are only too many people who are against the Holy Rosary [Fr. Mark's Marian prayer would fit into this category as well] today ... It is easy to see that they have absorbed the poison of hell and that they are inspired by the devil ..." --St. Louis De Montfort, The Secret of the Rosary.

No.

I think it’s quite nice that each group has a sheltered caucus designation they can be at home with one another on.

It grieved me because it was so hostile to Biblical Truth.

I gather you are asserting that your focus is as described in the prayer posted by Mark Kirby. So registered.

Thanks for your contribution to this research thread.

No one.

I don’t think she’s remotely involved in such.

I can’t think of a single Scripture

NOR

a single report from a Heavenly visit

which would affirm that she is.

I can think of several that describe a very different role for her in Heaven—namely that of helping to teach aborted babies, now children, the ways of God.

The hell-spawned caricature of the pseudo-Mary-goddess-personage farce may fit the Jr God image so carefully cultivated.

The Authentic Mary of Scripture has no interest in playing Jr God/goddess. The role of teaching children fits the authentic Mary quite well, imho.

Playing Jr God would certainly be the opposite of any kind of HEAVENLY REST for the authentic Mary.

Perhaps Roman Catholics et al do not believe that the Authentic Mary deserves her Heavenly REST?

You "gathered" incorrectly (and if you are going to quote a Catholic priest, you should refer to them properly). Today at Mass, here's a link to the Biblical readings I participated in Link. After receiving the True Body of Christ, I walked home reciting the Rosary, which was not "hostile to Biblical Truth." How could Jesus' mother be hostile towards her Son or His Word? I don't know how Mary is going to help "tip the scales" in your favor ("Eighth Rose, Marvels of the Rosary," St. Louis De Montfort, The Secret of the Rosary), when your "noggin'" is filled with so much venom towards her Love, and, it follows, her Son.
“Always keep close to Our Heavenly Mother, because She is the sea that must be crossed, in order to reach the shores of eternal splendor, in the Kingdom of Dawn" --St. Padre Pio.

" . . . when your "noggin'" is filled with so much venom towards her Love . . ."

1. That assertion comes across as:

(A) heart/ motive/ mind-reading.
(B) an inaccurate arrogant, harsh, fleshy judgment with no warranted basis in fact.
2. I am not sure I have venom even toward satan.
3. I certainly have NONE toward the authentic Mary nor toward any aspect of the authentic Mary. 4. Imputing venom where there is none does not tend to come out of a vacuum. I wonder what the source of it is.

LORD GOD . . . MAY YOUR TRUTH REIGN.
.
MAY YOUR SON, JESUS THE CHRIST REIGN SURPEME OVER ALL; IN ALL HEARTS SEEKING YOU AND ALL HEARTS SEEKING AUTHENTIC GOOD.
.
MAY ALL deceptions from the enemy, all deceptions from the pit, all 'good' that is the enemy of the best be cast down as chaff and worse.
.
MAY ALL carnal rationalizations and self-righteous attachments be taken to THE CROSS OF JESUS, crucified there and buried in Your Precious Blood, Lord, Jesus.
.
MAY ALL UNBIBLICAL FANTASIES be cast down to the pit from whence they came, Lord Jesus.
.
MAY ALL hoaxes, charades, everything that vaunts itself against JESUS THE CHRIST AND HIS EXCLUSIVE SUPREMACY AND RULE OVER ALL BE CAST DOWN.
.
IN JESUS' PRECIOUS NAME, AMEN.
