7 When you pray, dont babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Dont be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, --New Living Translation 7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.] 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9Pray, therefore, like this: 15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. --Amplified Pray with Simplicity 5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? 6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. 7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: 16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well. |

Has anyone here, of the protestants, ever been open about what church they attend? Very very few; for instance, the loudest proddie around has not mentioned what church belief s/he follows. We know a few have, but they hide it as though it were a sinful secret.
Are they ashamed of their churches? Do they not want us to know what they believe? Is it a gotcha game, where they can demand we justify our beliefs, falsify them, misinterpret them, and ridicule them, but we don’t get to know theirs, because they’re afraid (WITH GOOD REASON!) that they will have do defend their own churches?
Fascinating. Why are Catholics always up against the wall with a blindfold and a cigarette, while they have target practice?
That can go two ways....
This is a political/religion forum, after all. And as we've learned from these many many threads, Rome is all politics, all the time.
See now: the quick jump to Supreme Court justices shows how moving to the political still colors the Reformed world Catholic!
My point exactly! Forward or back, side to side, religion or politics - All the Reformed seem to see, behind every bush and tree...are Catholics!
I normally assume that NOT EVERYONE will wrap their minds around the breadth of my pontifications.
WAGGLEBEE: Nobody has ever suggested otherwise.
lol. Well, there are suggestions and then there are suggestions.
The RCC tells us Mary was born sinless, and lived sinless and died sinless and was assumed into heaven bodily because of her sinless nature.
All of which contradicts Scripture and deifies the creature and confers on her the status belonging to the Creator alone.
Repent.
Confession and denial is as an action as a statement. Do you dispute what our Lord said in Matthew 25:31-46? (By the way, those verses are from Matthew 10, not 5.)
INDEED.
THX.
Sinful secret? Everybody is open about their church. Who isn’t?
LOL.
The Catholic Church has NEVER suggested that the Blessed Virgin Mary did not need a Savior, NEVER.
I don’t see Catholics wanting to risk compromising their screen names by naming the particular Roman Catholic Church they attend.
Besides, the denomination is irrelevant if it preaches the Gospel as presented in the Bible.
For many Protestant churches, the differences are not much more than differences in music style, not differences in actual theology about who Christ is and that salvation is through faith alone in Him alone.
I’ve had Baptists warn me about the dangers of Pentecostalism, and yet theology about the gifts of the Spirit aside, there’s no other differences in what they believe.
"Rome has not essentially changed. Rome declared that what it said at the time of the Reformation was infallible and could not change. Declared it to be irreformible truth. Rome has not changed and precious truths of God's word are still worth upholding even at the cost of unity even at the cost of being considered "troublemakers" in the religious world. We need to guard the antithesis against the destructive error of Rome." -- Dr. Greg L. Bahnsen, THE REFORMATION, October 28, 1990. "The Reformation is dying daily in our day when the Ecumenical Movement, and other forces like unto it, wish to soften the antithesis with Rome, today. I want to assure you that it's not my pugnacious debating nature that makes me say we must exalt that antithesis and guard it. It's my love for the Lord Jesus Christ and the purity of His word.
lol. The RCC talks out of both sides of its mouth. Continually. And there will always be those who only see one lip moving.
In all fairness, Dr. E is very open about being a member of the OPC and RNMom is a member of the PCA.
How can you concentrate on the passion of Christ and say the prayer thoughtfully ? Or do you just say the Hail Mary as a repetitive grayer when you contemplate the passion of Christ? Or do you sorta contemplate the Passion while you concentrate on the hail Mary’s?
A billion or more people understand what the Church teaches, it’s not the Church’s fault if you don’t.
THERE’S A LOT of Roman Catholics et al hereon who seem to be boundary workers between the normal RC population and the rabid clique groups.
Sometimes they sound like rabid clique folks
and much of the time they sound rational and reasonably grounded in reality and Scripture.
There are SOME card carrying members around alright.
In fact, I can't think of anyone who hasn't told us of their church membership. It's not something we hide.
Well, not much in that long list got denied.
Its a Catch 22 for them.
If they admit to it, then it proves our point.
If they deny it, then they are at odds with the Church which has condoned it.
= = =
I guess so.
Interesting.
But isn't that the beauty of Christianity, the desire to be in a right relationship with our LORD and Savior without a central authority saying you have to. If you're referencing the councils called by Constantine and later I would disagree. I'm assuming you're referencing the Jerusalem Council.
Mormonism is growing at an incredible rate, rate of growth does not necessarily equal truth.
They have to they're bleeding members just as fast. They really aren't growing. When people realize they aren't Christian the luster disappears and they leave. The initial draw isn't their faith, it's the decent lives they live.
